Are you busy with stuff going on IRL?

yeah sorta

I make stuff for this blog on a when-I-feel-like-it basis and it’s always been that way, and when stuff happens in real life and I don’t feel like putting hours into making stuff. I just stop. (This is something I elaborated on in my last post b4 dropping off the face of the earth.)

*cough* I made something.

It’s not great but it’s something, which is more than I can say for anything I’ve done for the blog in the past few months. I could’ve spent more time tuning it to make it look better but...

Speaking of that, making anything in sfm is kind of a painful process, one I just haven’t felt like doing for a while. (I only recently discovered it was broken because of this.) Sorry! I have less free time then before, coupled with a lack of desire to make anything, which makes making something not very desirable. So, uh, if you haven’t caught on, this blog has no schedule, I just fulfill requests whenever it feels right (Which means yes, keep sending requests, I’ll sort through them later. Just don’t expect a timely response to your request...or maybe even a response at all. Sorry!!)

Turns out that my computer thought that I had a second monitor when I didn’t and all the extra sfm windows were just opening on the non-existent second monitor.

Huh.

Anyway fixed the problem!

So

SFM is broken still, and I have no idea how to fix it. Reinstalling didn’t work.

To clarify, the issue I’m having is depressingly simple. The “Load Map” and “Model Viewer” windows DO NOT OPEN. Or they do, but they’re invisible. So I cannot use these windows at all basically.

If anybody following me has encountered an issue like this before I’d love to hear how you fixed it, otherwise I’ll just have to look around more. But google really isn’t helping.

So, sorry! Can’t make anything else until I sort this out.

How long until we see more art again?

I’m really sorry I haven’t been posting stuff! I have no real excuses, I just haven’t felt like making anything in a while, which is unfair to my followers. Making something for the blog is pretty time consuming however, a small set of pictures usually taking a few hours at a time depending. But also I’ve had that much time and haven’t used any of it here so that’s just me putting it off.

SFM is also being really buggy rn and I might have to reinstall but that admittedly won’t actually take very long. So I have to do that too.

It’s been months so expect something soon. Nothing big though.

I know you don't post as much as you once did, and that's chill. But I just wanted to go on record as saying, the stuff you have posted is fricken brilliant and when an update does happen. It's always a joy to see!

I’d say I’ve been busy but that’s kind of a poor excuse, it’s just hard get motivated to launch sfm sometimes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(Sidenote, you will probably need to use a fair amount of photoshopping on the final result, because scaling anything past the intended maximum causes some glaring, ugly issues. And you’ll need to use clever camera angles and poses, again to hide the issues that come up with that kind of scaling.)

I cropped out the rest of your message (your request) to say this: It’s definitely not a lack of ideas...I have a pretty full inbox at this point. It is kind of a shortage of time though. I prefer to get pictures done all at once, start to finish in one session, so when I can’t do that, it’s harder for me to want to work on them at all. And in the case of complex multi picture renders, it takes hours. (And I don’t just pose, either. I do small tweaks in Photoshop [color, blur, smooth, etc] to make it look better, which adds time).

But I’ve been procrastinating pretty hard too. Wow, a month?

I’ll probably do something soon-ish just to make up for that.

do you upload higher res screenshots anywhere?

The images are at their max resolution on Tumblr atm. That’s as high res as it gets unfortunately.

It’s possible to render at a higher resolution in source filmmaker, but I actually render everything as image sequences for about 4 frames (so technically rendering a movie with the engine), and maybe there’s a bug on my end or that’s just how it is, but 1280 x 720 is the highest (I’ve been able to make it) render at without fail.

The reason I render as image sequences (as opposed to Posters) is because if I don’t, things just don’t render right. Boob size and stuff actually takes a few frames to increase to normal size when rendering for…whatever reason, so the final result would have gross in-betweens if I just rendered them as posters normally.

If anyone has any insight on how to fix the problem I can go back and re-render a few of them but this is a problem that I’ve basically had since the very start.
