I love the PHM shipping scene because it all makes sense to me. The fandom passes Grace around like a joint and I'm always like "yeah that checks out." Ship him with the woman, the man, the rock, markiplier, no one. I'm here for it! I love Grace as a hopeless romantic and I love him as completely disinterested arograce. And I love like every single character, there is not one of them I dislike, so practically all the content appeals to me. I am at a buffet and I'll eat all of it

taller, higher center of gravity

also pretty fucking muscular (no it was not just the ship, NMES devices MAINTAIN muscle they don't build it)

prone to explosive anger

fucking scrappy, doesn't fight fair (the chase scene)

FAST (how fucking far he got in the chase scene. which makes sense because he does cardio literally every day)

not to mention if you believe in coltlandgentry propaganda do you seriously think court wouldn't make damn sure his baby brothers could protect themselves. do you think colt wouldn't teach his notoriously clumsy twin how to take the least amount of damage from a fall or a hit.

like... let him get the upper hand. let him win, even. typical fanfic scene with simon attacking grace when he first wakes up on the ship, but grace locks in and triggers muscle memory he maybe didn't even know he had, gets simon pinned or in some kind of secure hold. "ohhh-kay. hey there. sorry, that's my bad for startling you. my name's grace..."

ALSO: simon is trained to kill, not to fight and let the other live!

sure, he might have gotten in prison fights or scraps over resources in eden, but those likely all had to be separated in fear of it getting deadly. all his butcher experience is explicitly lethal.

when he’s fighting with grace, who’s actually just trying to help, he doesn’t know how to gauge how much force to use in order to just win a fight vs. outright murdering him. he wouldn’t have the upper hand in this situation unless he wants to face the consequences of losing grace.

(also, simon freaking out immediately after recovery scenes often don’t include that he would def be off his game after Literally Just Having Woken Up after everything he went through. it would take him a hot minute to recover enough to actually be able to fight someone unless your canon is that his mutations make him recover faster.)

Simon being from an alternate universe that Grace did exist in. But in his universe Grace had all his memories in space and sabotaged the mission and he’s become a scapegoat for all the problems with the stars. Simon has this hatred toward the historical coward Ryland Grace who sacrificed earth for his own selfishness.

When he meets Grace in space he tries to attack him not out of fear but out of vengeance because it’s his fault Simon had to go in the sub, It’s his fault the stars died, and it’s his fault Simon’s no longer fully human.
