Now, terror roams free. It is unknown how, but Fenrir is unbound. He is hungry now, but no flesh will satisfy his need. For it is revenge that he craves.

Once upon a time

Second son of Loki and the giant Angrboda, Fenrir grew as a wolf, creating the fear by his size, strength and wild personality. See as monster, the Gods finally decided to control the beast, to contain him. So they challenged the wolf to play a game with them. They asked him to show his strength, for this they bounded him with a chain called Leyding and asked him to break it, something he did, easily. They tried a second time, with another magical chain called Dromi. The result became the same, Fenrir was still free.

Then the Gods hired the Dwarves to forge an indestructible chain out of gold melted with six impossible things (the roots of a mountain, the beard of a woman, the footfall of a cat, the breath of a fish, the nerves of a bear, the spittle of a bird), and they challenged the wolf, again, with this enchanted chain called Gleipnir. But this time, Fenrir followed his instincts and only agreed to let them put the bonds around him only if there was a god willing to put his hand in the his mouth as a gesture of trust. Tyr a courageous god accepted the deal and put his right hand in the wolf’s mouth. A hand he lost when Fenrir understood that this chain was too strong for him, taking a small revenge. Trapped and furious, Fenrir only saw his two sons, Hati and Skoll defend him from this unfair fate. But Odin, grandfather of the wolf didn’t listen and bespelled them when they tried to free their father. Also gagged with a sword, Fenrir was now destined to lie bound to a rock until the Ragnarok, when he will break his bonds and fall upon the gods.

Chained, Fenrir stayed centuries in this condition, waiting for the Ragnarok and slavering at the idea of taking his revenge. It’s only in 2015 (in Midgard at least), that his father Loki came to visit him with the best christmas present. It was a deal, a deal for freedom and for revenge. Hesitant but not stupid, Fenrir agreed and let his father put him as a new chess piece of his little game. The two following month seemed longer for the wolf than the last centuries, because Fenrir was maybe free but his father and sister Hel asked him the stay calm and to wait for his revenge. Furious, Fenrir obeyed or at least he tried, angry against this new chains his family was putting on him. He maybe just killed and ate one or two poor bastards when nobody was watching.

Key to success

Fenrir was residing at Loki’s castle during the invasion. When he got word of the chaos that was happening around the world, Fenrir couldn’t help himself and went to join the fray, causing just as much destruction as the aliens. With everything in tatters, Fenrir is enjoying the state of the world, using it to his advantage to have free reign to come and go as he please and to do as he wants.

Updates 

☽ Fenrir left Midgard for the other realms, looking for his sons Hati and Skoll, hoping they could be free since Odin died.

☽ He didn't find them, every lead went to a dead end, pissing off the wolf.

☽ He still has the ring his father gave him, allowing him to have three human forms, he became better at it.

☽ He recently came back to Midgard after hearing about his father's condition from Hela who not "subtly" asked him to keep an eye on Loki, since he was the only one who could easily travel to Midgard.

☽ Freedom and human habits are still weird to apprehend, but the wolf did some light progress since his last time on Earth.

☽ He obviously didn't sign the SHPA act.

Fenrir, migardian ... she was not a mythology buff like others at the institute, it was more Hank's thing. She did meet -unwillingly - the OIympians, but that wolf did not strike her as Greek. Something more primal, maybe celtic or norse. She lowered her defenses just a tiny bit. Maybe this was just a misunderstanding of some sort. "It is nice to meet you Fenrir." she spoke. "I did not mean to attract your attention. There are as many places you can go to get away from humans... - midgardians to find some peace of mind."

Maybe they would finally be able to speak, maybe. But for now, Fenrir still preferred to keep his wolf shape, just in case. "Oh really?" He asked, not really convinced by this fact. Midgardian's forests were small, even in the North, much smaller than the ones in Vanaheim. "Where?"

He’d thought being away for as long as he had would render the space unfamiliar to him, yet Josh found himself wandering through the trees just like he’d done after being brought to the school; there was a slight comfort in their sameness.

S ran ahead of him, tail wagging, nose high, sniffing everything and anything. Josh briefly wondered if the dog remembered the space as well but then he took off after catching a scent and Josh frowned, following at a more sedate pace. He felt the creature before he saw them, recalling how he touched, healed and harmed Fenrir before the enormous wolf came into view. He nodded respectfully and sat next to S, hands folded calmly in his lap, “Hello Fenrir.” He said quietly, looking up at him, “I was just thinking the forest hasn’t changed very much, and now here you are, looking exactly the same.”

If the wolf could smile, he would. Fenrir looked a bit around them, at this forest before looking back at the mutant. "Are you so sure?" He teased. "Would you bet your arm on it?" He was cheating a bit, he knew, yet he felt no shame about it.

Fenrir knew most of the woods of the east coast, visiting them quite often, checking what he decided was his territory. Crossing Midgardians was a part of this routine, sometimes the wolf was ignoring them, and sometimes he was just simply eating them.

Wandering in his wolf shape, the wolf stopped his pace when a familiar smell hit him. It didn't take long for a dog to show up, making the old wolf growl in reaction. He knew him but waited for the dog to calm down and lay down to act more friendly, teaching him some manners in front of the father of all wolves. Not stupid, Sunny seemed to understand the lesson and obeyed, his wagging tail hitting the ground. Pleased, Fenrir sat down in return, his attention moving to another known smell incoming. It has been a while. "Hi Joshua." Peacefully greeted the wolf when the mutant finally showed up.

That's all he needed. He bowed in reverance to the lord of wolves. "Thank you , my lord. " he spoke. Without much more fuss he gave a nod as farewell and turn to leave, his footstep vanishing with him into the etherial plane. He had much information to report to Lady Sif, she would be pleased and himself was relieved that their goal seemed more in reach than it was before.

Good manners, going straight to the point, no useless chit-chat. This ghost was rubbing the wolf up the right way. Fenrir was pleased, he watched him leave without a word, pretty sure they would meet again, sooner or later.

"My name is Jean. " After a second, she let go of him. She felt the phoenix stir, as if having a foe was making it want to fight, however she remained calm, and just looked at him. She took the fact that he was shrinking as a good sign and was willing to handle this as adults ...unless the wolf wanted an another income, then she would just make him crumble. "What is yours ?"

This name didn't ring a bell, the wolf had no clue of the woman's reputation. Freed, Fenrir shook himself by instincts, yet he didn't try to move, tense but not a fool to try something. "I'm Fenrir." He replied, skipping the titles he had, Midgardians never cared about the Asgardians' etiquette, so why should he bother. "I do not know you, lady. My apologies for mistaking you for a simple Midgardian."

"I have. They are your sons." he replied , knowing that both were to chase Sol and Mani for punishment for attacking Asgard. "They are not in chase of the sun and the moon anymore." he informed the wolf-lord. " But that you already knew, otherwise you would have found them already. " he spoke. "I know where they are, the answer however may not please you." he warned. " Karnilla has taken upon them to tame them to her cause, thus they are her fierce guardians, there, where the Norn Queen resides and where maybe our goals align, if only to get there."

Fenrir started with a nod, he wasn't expecting much, used to dead ends. So when the ghost shared his information, the wolf couldn't help it but stared with disbelief. He processed the information and felt his anger rise, making it really hard to keep his current form. "Oh did she?" It was a rethorical question, said with a hollow voice. Witches, always witches. "You have my thank Ghost." He slowly articulated, managing his desire for destruction by hardly clenching his fists. He took a deep breath and shared his part of knowledges, always being a god of his word. "The tree has no fruit to offer, you will have to create one of your own to welcome your deads. However it has space, branches strong enough to woven your new realm to it."

"You did? Did he seem," she paused, mulling over her words - 'well' was not a term she could use, given what she knew of his situation. "In good health?" Sigyn hummed softly, considering. "I must admit it's difficult to imagine him living in one of those small Midgardian homes, but it does make sense if he truly doesn't remember himself." She didn't bother to hide the slight grin on her lips as she shook her head, lifting a hand to gently pet Fenrir's arm. "You cannot hunt down anyone that simply does not accept my invitation, pup. Not this time, at least."

Fenrir started thinking about her question, not so sure what was supposed to be normal or not. "He looked tired and weak, just like a midgardian." He honestly replied with no apparent sympathy. "Well he for sure didn't recognize my oldest face." It was actually one of the reasons why Fenrir was less and less using it those past weeks. "No promises m-" Nope, no way he was using this word, never. "-Milady." He replied, totally bluffing. "So. Names. Tell me."

Sigyn couldn't help but roll her eyes, a playfully amused smile on her lips as she shrugged? "Oh you most certainly could go and do that, though I don't imagine that would set a joyous tone for the day. I could extend him a proper invitation though, if I knew where to find him," she mused. "Truly I hadn't thought to do too much this season - I will invite people for a feast, of course, but I believe many have their hands far too full."

Oh, it would be fun, but maybe only for him. "I tracked him down a few times." Because it was a part of what he agreed to do for Hela. "He's living in one of those small vertical houses of...Halreld" He also played the mailman for him, but this had to stay hidden. "Well if they dare to decline, at least it will give me an occupation." He casually replied.

Lornarr patiently listened to what the wolf-prince had to say. He found some comfort in knowing the cycle was broken. For a long time, it always rested heavy on everyone's head. He had a part of empathy for the wolf himself, as he was not a doomed beast either anymore. He did not say as much out loud. It was not his place nor had he enough familiarity with the other being to do so. The second part of the answer let the feeling set in that this task was a difficult one, yet not impossible according to Fenrir. "I thank thee, for your information, my Lord. " he stated when Fenrir was done. " I understand more , requires a bargain, what would it cost me for you to say how to have a Valhalla ? "

Fenrir meant to be literal, it wasn't only about finding a new branch of the tree to fix everything. But hey, if his words could give him something in return, he wasn't going to clarify anything of what he just said. "Have you heard of Sköll and Hati?"

"I'm afraid not, but with luck my mood will lighten at least a little soon." She didn't have much hope given the circumstances, but the presence of her stepson did at least slightly ease her spirits. "I'm simply wondering if there will ever be a day that we could truly have the whole of our family together, and Yule has a way of making that wish sit heavy on my heart. Still, you and I are here, and perhaps we can invite a few others to join us for a feast for Yule."

Fenrir was used to this absent family, his last good Yule was probably dating from his young days as a pup. He was there because he knew it was somehow important for her, even if he didn't share the same interest in the celebration and that kind of reunion. "It may, one day." He offered, many Yule were to come, she had her chances. "Don't you have anyone in mind? Or I could go, kidnap your amnesiac husband, and bring him here for the party." Please say yes.

"Are you going to behave if I put you down or continue to yell and insult me ?" she asked, she lowered him a bit. Men, all the same. Always the same reaction as soon as a woman gave them a bit of their medecine. She did lower him so his feet would touch the ground. She sensed so much rage, that she actively put out a calming wave for that wolf-man to get closer to a more reasonable conversation.

Insult her? When did he do such a thing? Staring still aggressively but not barking anymore, Fenrir did his best to manage his anger. Back on the ground, he didn't try to move, overflowed by the wave of calm, he wasn't stupid to believe it was from his own self-control. His rage triggered in a good way, the wolf returned to an almost reasonable size. His instincts were yelling at him, he had to be careful, the lady was strong, stronger than his uncle or father. It made him keep his wolf shape, the strongest one he had, the fastest one. He didn't smell any magic, was she like the golden boy he knew? "What is your name lady?"

Running away then? Fenrir sighed, a bit disappointed to see how long gone was the warrior he knew. He laid down, looked at the exit, and then back at the pitiful man, still silent.

Loki looked a bit stunned. "I'm not sure - " he started. Mail was his job, and if he lost the mail, he didn't know what they would do. He needed the job to be able to live in his appartment. He looked at the papers, mostly only advertisement , and 2 real letters on which the address was now unreadable. He hesitated, but really just wanted to go home, that was true. Maybe a bit too naive at this instant, he gave the pile of mushy papers to the stranger. "Thank you I suppose ?"

Great, now he had mail, 70% of it will end up in the nearest bin, for the rest he might, just maybe, deal with the not-so-mushy advertisements and for sure leave the letters to Sigyn. "Call it my good deed of the decade." It was mostly because his father looked miserable and because of family honors, he couldn't allow it, but no need to say it out loud. "Now go, before I change my mind."

Catch a cold, that sounded like a weird concept, one the wolf didn't want to see. Looking at the scarf, then at the mail. "You can keep the scarf." He first stated before pointing at the papers. "That's what stop you from going home?" He asked, thinking about eating it before remembering how those people were touchy about superficial things. "Give it to me, I'll take care of it." He offered with a forced smile.

Lornarr took no further step, yet sat down on a bigger log. His sword resting on his side. "You and your brother have a unique connection to the tree...and you , my prince, as a being connected to the cycle itself and to cause Ragnarok, I assume you have a unique understanding of it. " he explained. "I have two questions for you. Do you feel the cycle is broken ? And do you sense from the tree still a branch that can be restored for the dead ? Or was the work of that warlock permanent?"

It was a conversation that would need a better intellect than what his wolf form could offer to him. So after a sigh, Fenrir left his wolf self to better listen and focus on the questions. "Your assumptions are true, ghost. And to answer your questions, yes. The cycle is broken. It is since your dear Odin decided to turn his son into a pathetic human." He mocked, it was why they could have this conversation, why he was still free. "As for your second question..." Fenrir seemed to think about it, it wasn't really about what he could feel and interpret, but more about what he would agree to share. "Valhalla is gone, this branch will not be restored." He started and sighed before offering more. "Yet it might. But you will need more than a simple branch to offer a place for your dead."

"I'd say it's the part where you learn you can't run." she replied , since there was a more advanced mind in that wolf form, she used it to blind him , then lift him to avoid him to engage any chase. She gave him his sight back, but let him float above the ground.

By the fire of Muspellheim, the wolf didn't expect her tricks. "WITCH!" He yelled at her when he started floating above the ground, struggling in the air like a confused dog thrown into the ocean. He hated it, it felt humiliating and triggered his anger. "RELEASE ME!" He ordered and started to stabilize when he got his sight back. "You!" He chattered his teeth, hating the known fact that against a witch, death threats would only turn him into a fool. "Put. Me. Down." He articulated despite his rage.
