Feral Audio Turns Website Into Morbid Self-Memorial Online Store
Major Podcast Network Feral Audio Wraps Production Following Abuse Allegations, Original Founders Turn Website Into Morbid Online Store “DEATH TO FERAL”
Los Angeles, CA, February 5th, 2018: The original Founders of the now defunct major podcast network FeralAudio.com have turned their website into a morbid online store following the wake of abuse allegations against its Founder Dustin Marshall. Podcast Producer Dustin Marshall and Web Designer Stig Greve, the artist behind much of Feral’s iconic podcast artwork such as the cover of My Favorite Murder, Natch Beaut and Dumb People Town ran the website itself and are to split profits from sales 50/50. All that remains of a once colorful and flourishing podcast network’s home page that housed 60+ podcasts is a self-inflated autobiography and links to morbid merchandise of an altered version of the network’s original logo, described by Marshall as “a Happy Buddha Cat everyone thought was an owl”.
The website now depicts the logo deteriorating into an actual cat’s skull and the following sneering epitaph: “feral audio was the greatest podcast network that will ever exist. it lived on the internet. founded may fourteenth two-thousand and twelve by dustin marshall & stig greve on zero dollars, destroyed by dustin marshall january first two-thousand eighteen on zero dollars. it went from indie podcast collective to one of the biggest podcast networks in the world. it was a whole thing, you had to be there.
after housing and creating the best podcasts for over half a decade with complete independence, all that remains are these super dramatic shirts, hoodies, stickers, tank tops, long sleeves, baseball tees, kids apparel, a baby onesie with an actual cat skull on it, wall art, notebooks, mugs, and pillows. help fund our next great thing while mourning the greatest podcast network ever.”
“The business of podcasting backed me into a corner. I became my worst self. Pure avoidance.” stated Marshall, who openly admits to becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol during Feral’s peak and an abuser of his then partner. “As dramatically as Feral Audio began, I ended it.” Marshall’s flair for the dramatic, dark online persona and transparency about his mental health made him a divisive figure in the landscape of podcasting.
“Feral was 100% me trying to do podcast Touch ’n Go Records… and now it’s a Hot Topic? It was so beautiful, colorful, flawed and twee!” “On its own [sic] became a place where like, comedians got vulnerable. Then our biggest show was about laughing at murder. It’s not what I’m about personally but, not gonna lie, producing the darkest podcast of all time makes me proud. Now we get street, indie and goth cred.” As much fun as Dustin and Stig are having mocking themselves (Dustin also claims in 6 years he’s never seen Stig’s face or heard his voice and they purely communicate through email), Feral Audio still ended and exists in an ugly situation that Marshall is not taking lightly or willing to discuss any further. Even mentioning the controversy surrounding him made his voice drop an octave lower and in a heartbeat it became obvious he takes his work very seriously. He wishes to continue working with Stig on a new project focusing on improving mental health services and maintaining his own sobriety.

P.S. This week, I also appeared on Dan Harmon’s great live show/podcast Harmontown. The appearance is giving Obsessed a nice bump in numbers so now would be a GREAT time to leave us a rating or review on iTunes! Spikes in ratings and reviews mean as much to iTunes’ algorithms as listens do!
