🎭 Final Day: Free Space

The Last Curtain Call

For the final day of Corazon Week, I decided to step away from my sketchbook and celebrate in a different way.. Through cosplay.

There were several reasons behind this decision, but above all, I wanted to pay tribute to Corazon beyond illustration. Cosplay has always been another artistic medium for me, and it felt like the most fitting way to bring this collection to its conclusion.

📸 The inspiration for this look comes from the timeless photographs of Marlene Dietrich and the elegance of 1920s fashion. I've always admired the refined tailoring, dramatic silhouettes, and quiet sophistication of that era, and for a long time I had imagined how those aesthetics could be reinterpreted through Rosinante.

Rather than recreating an outfit from the series, I wanted to imagine him as though he had stepped out of a vintage studio portrait from the early twentieth century, elegant, cinematic, and timeless.

😂 I have to admit... it didn't turn out exactly as I had imagined. At one point I looked at the photos and thought, "Why do I look like Lady Gaga?" But that's part of the creative process, isn't it? Sometimes our ideas surprise us, and learning to laugh along the way is part of the journey.

🎂 Today is also my birthday, which makes this final post even more special. Sharing this day with one of my favorite One Piece characters has always meant a great deal to me, and celebrating it by dedicating this tribute to Rosinante feels like the perfect way to close this year's Corazon Week.

🌹 Looking back at these six days, I realize that this challenge became much more than a drawing event. It became an opportunity to revisit the artists who have inspired me, to explore new techniques, to step outside my comfort zone, and above all, to celebrate a character whose kindness continues to resonate with so many of us.

✨ Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who joined me on this journey. Every kind word, every comment, and every bit of support has meant more than I can say.

❤️ Day 5 Corazon Week 2026

NATURE

Vanitas Cordis

Today's illustration is the penultimate piece of this year's Corazon Week, and without a doubt, it took me the furthest outside my comfort zone.

Portraits have always been my favorite subject to paint, so creating an entire still life felt like stepping into unfamiliar territory. It was also my very first time studying and painting an anatomically accurate human skull. As a Mexican, the skulls I usually create are inspired by calaveras de azúcar:full of color, life, and celebration... so approaching one through the lens of classical painting was both challenging and incredibly rewarding.

🎨 This piece is inspired by the Vanitas still lifes of the Dutch Baroque. These symbolic compositions combine elements of nature with reminders of mortality: skulls, extinguished candles, flowers, fruit, and other everyday objects become quiet reflections on the fleeting nature of life, the passage of time, and the certainty of death. For the prompt "Nature," I wanted to embrace the idea of nature morte (still life), allowing each object to carry its own meaning. The extinguished candle symbolizes a life that has come to an end. The skull reminds us that death is the one fate shared by all. The flowers speak of beauty that inevitably fades with time, while the Devil Fruit quietly represents the extraordinary life and legacy Corazon left behind.

I won't hide it... this illustration made me emotional :( As I arranged every object, I kept thinking about Rosinante's final moments and the hope he chose to leave behind. In many ways, this piece became less of a still life and more of a quiet farewell.

Ironically, this illustration also brought back the artistic block I thought I had already overcome. There were many moments when I felt stuck, unsure of every brushstroke, and I only managed to finish it today. Even so, I chose to keep going, one step at a time.

Painting the flowers was especially challenging, and I still have so much to learn when it comes to botanical studies. Although I can already see things I would love to improve in the future, I decided to embrace this piece as part of my growth rather than chasing perfection.

❤️ Day 4 Corazon Week 2026

Clumsy Day (Unfortunate Clumsiness)

A Moment's Folly 🔥

I think this piece might be my favorite illustration I have created so far.. not only from this challenge, but from my entire artistic journey.

When I finally finished it, I honestly cried. After spending so much time studying, experimenting, and overcoming challenges, seeing the final image come together was an incredibly emotional moment for me.

For today's prompt, "Clumsy Day," I wanted to portray one of Rosinante's most recognizable traits: his endless and unfortunate clumsiness.

Rather than simply illustrating an accident, I wanted to create a scene that felt true to his character. Corazon is someone who can turn even the simplest action into a complete disaster, so I imagined him trying to light his cigarette… only for his own clumsiness to betray him once again. A small moment becomes a chaotic but very "Rosinante" situation.❤️🥺

🎨 This illustration was inspired by El Greco's Boy Blowing on an Ember, a painting that has always fascinated me because of the way it transforms such a simple subject into a dramatic study of light and shadow. The small flame illuminating the child's face creates a mysterious and almost theatrical atmosphere, showing how something as fragile as a spark can become the center of an entire composition.

I wanted to reinterpret that same idea through Corazon: replacing the quiet curiosity of El Greco's child with his characteristic accident-prone nature. The flame becomes both a source of light and a reminder of the chaos that follows him everywhere.

🌹 This piece was also one of my greatest technical challenges. The hands, the nails, and especially the lighting were incredibly difficult to achieve. Creating the interaction between the warm glow of the flame and the surrounding darkness pushed me to study and experiment more than ever before. Even now, I still cannot believe how it turned out, but I am incredibly happy with the result.

I also feel that this illustration shows my inspiration for Rosinante's facial features more clearly. For his appearance, I was inspired by Anton Rogachev, whose features helped me capture the gentle, melancholic, and kind expression I wanted for him.

✨ This artwork reminded me that sometimes the most unexpected challenges can lead us to create something truly meaningful.

❤️ Day 3 Corazon Week 2026 ❤️

AU! (WHAT IF)

Le Chevalier du Cœur⚜️

Today's prompt, "What If," was probably one of the most challenging (and rewarding) pieces of this week's collection.

Last year, I imagined Rosinante as a Celestial Dragon, so I wanted to explore a similar idea without simply repeating it. This time, I asked myself a different question: What if Rosinante had remained in Mary Geoise and eventually become one of the Holy Knights?

The Holy Knights represent the highest military authority serving the Celestial Dragons, entrusted with protecting the Holy Land and enforcing its laws. Reimagining Rosinante within such a role fascinated me because it presents a striking contrast to the person we know a man whose kindness ultimately led him to reject the very world he was born into.

⚜️ For the visual direction, I drew inspiration from the magnificent military portraits of the Napoleonic era, particularly the works of Jacques-Louis David, Antoine-Jean Gros, and François Gérard. Their portraits are known for their luxurious uniforms, dramatic capes, rich fabrics, and dignified compositions, transforming military figures into almost monumental symbols of authority.

Rather than depicting Rosinante in battle, I wanted this piece to feel like an official state portrait, as though it belonged in the halls of Mary Geoise itself.

🎨 This illustration also became a personal technical challenge. Before starting it, I had been struggling with a bit of artistic block, so I decided to use this piece as an opportunity to push myself again.

One of my main goals was to faithfully recreate three different materials in a classical oil painting style while working digitally: velvet, satin, and leather. Each fabric reflects light in a completely different way, so I found myself revisiting studies of historical portraiture to better understand their textures, folds, and subtle color transitions. It was a demanding process, but also an incredibly rewarding one.

In many ways, this illustration helped me reconnect with the joy of studying, experimenting, and painting again. By the time I finished it, I felt that creative block slowly beginning to fade.

I hope you enjoy this alternate interpretation of Rosinante as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life. Sometimes, imagining the paths a character never took can reveal just as much about who they truly are.

❤️ Day 2 Corazon Week 2026❤️

FAMILIAR MEMORIES

The Gentle Fool 🎪

For today's prompt, Familiar Memories, I drew inspiration from one of my favorite paintings by Norman Rockwell, The Clown.

Rockwell had an extraordinary ability to transform simple moments into deeply moving stories. In this painting, a clown gently wipes away a young boy's tears behind the curtain, revealing that beneath the painted smile lies quiet compassion. It is not a scene about performance, but about comfort, the kind offered when no one else is watching.

From the very first time I saw this artwork, it immediately reminded me of Law and Corazon.

Corazon also hid behind the role of a fool. He laughed, stumbled, and pretended to be someone ridiculous, yet beneath that disguise was an endlessly kind soul. Like Rockwell's clown, his greatest act was not making others laugh, but easing the pain of a child who had forgotten what kindness felt like.

That is why this painting has always felt so deeply connected to them. It beautifully reflects the warmth, tenderness, and unconditional love that shaped Law's memories of Corazon, moments that quietly became a home.

🌹 I hope this illustration conveys the same gentle comfort that has always drawn me to Rockwell's work and the reason I chose it as the heart of today's piece.

❤️ Day 1 Corazon Week 2026 ❤️

DRESS UP

La Faena del Silencio 🇪🇸

❤️ Corazon Week 2026 has finally begun, and I couldn't be happier! To start this year's challenge, I decided to revisit one of my very first digital illustrations. This concept was born from a little headcanon of mine: I have always imagined the Donquixote Family as having Hispanic roots. Although I don't support bullfighting as a tradition, I have always been fascinated by the elegance and craftsmanship of the traje de luces. That curiosity led me to wonder how Rosinante would look wearing one.

Compared to my original version, I made several changes in composition, lighting, and costume design, hoping to better capture the atmosphere I had envisioned years ago.

🎨 The piece is heavily inspired by Spanish bullfighting portraiture, particularly the paintings of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, where matadors were often portrayed with both dignity and quiet solemnity. I wanted to borrow that visual language while reimagining Corazon through it.

🖼️ For those discovering my work for the first time, a brief introduction: I am an art historian and curator, so classical painting is at the heart of my artistic practice. Nearly every illustration I create begins with the study of historical artworks, allowing me to reinterpret their visual narratives through contemporary characters.

💻 Before sharing the rest of this week's illustrations, I also wanted to mention that this challenge came with quite a few technical difficulties. My drawing application repeatedly corrupted files and even deleted entire layers, so I often had to export unfinished pieces and continue working from flattened images. Because of that, these works may not be as polished as I originally intended, but I poured my heart into each one nonetheless.

CORAZON DONQUIXOTE X DOCTOR SIMI

These past few days in Mexico, a video went viral saying that if you got a Dr. Simi tattoo and showed it at the pharmacy, they would give you 800 pesos!! (And honestly, I’m a huge Dr. Simi fan 💖)

The truth is, I’m way too scared to actually get a tattoo 😭 but it got me thinking… if I did get one, what would it look like?! And that’s how “Simi Corazón” was born haha! I combined two of my favorite characters together ✨

I really hope you like it! And if anyone actually wants to get this tattooed, go for it!!

🍋🧡Miss Valentine Cosplay 🍋🧡

I can’t even begin to describe how much of an emotional rollercoaster this cosplay was. I struggled a lot while making it first, because it’s my first time cosplaying a female character from One Piece (which honestly made me a bit nervous), and second, because I kept feeling like it just wasn’t coming together.

But thanks to the amazing photos by @rcameraman , I ended up falling in love with how it turned out... I absolutely adore the 60s aesthetic..def one of my favs

♥️ Happy Valentine’s Day from Rosinante Corazón Donquixote ❤️

I honestly can’t explain how excited and happy I am with how this photoshoot turned out ✨

I found the inspiration almost by accident a vintage couture red dress covered in red hearts and I immediately fell in love. I knew I wanted to recreate something like that with Rosi. The dramatic silhouette, the romantic red, the soft vintage glamour… it just felt right.

Everything about this shoot carries that classic Valentine energy I adore. The heart-shaped backdrop, the curls, the theatrical pose... it feels like stepping into an old love letter sealed in crimson wax.

I’m completely in love with how it all came together. Truly everything about it.

And the Queen of Hearts card for Rosi? I drew that one myself 💗✨

❄️ Corazón Donquixote for Winter ❄️

I normally do not upload my cosplay here.. So here we go!! Another version of Rosinante? Absolutely..you all know how deeply I adore him. This cosplay genuinely came out of nowhere. One day, while I was wearing my fluffy coat and that furry little hat of mine, I suddenly imagined Rosi dressed exactly like that… and I simply had to bring it to life.

I knew from the beginning that I didn’t want his eye mark to be blue this time; the silver shade felt so striking, especially paired with the darker lips. It gave him a colder, wintery elegance that I ended up loving far more than I expected.

Perhaps I was daydreaming a little too much when the idea came to me… but tell me, can you picture Corazón stepping out into the snow in this outfit? ❄️💙

“Panchito Romero Miguel Junípero Francisco Quintero González III” 🐓✨

Over the past few days, I’ve been dealing with a rather strong artistic block, so I decided to take a step back and return to something very close to my heart ❤️✨: redrawing some of my own digital artworks from when I first started drawing.

My all-time favourite film has always been The Three Caballeros by Disney 🎶🎨. In fact, the film has just turned 81 years old, as it was first released in Mexico on 21st December 1944 🇲🇽🎬. Because of that, this redraw felt like it came at exactly the right moment. So here it is: my updated redraw of my humanised Panchito design.

My version of Panchito is mainly inspired by Joaquín Garay, the original voice actor of Panchito, as well as two incredible icons of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema 🎞️🌟: Pedro Infante and our beloved Gallo de Oro, Jorge Negrete.

As a Mexican artist 🇲🇽❤️, I really enjoy giving historical meaning to my designs. Because of that, Panchito wears this particular style of moustache, which was very popular in Mexico during the 1940s 🕰️. As for his red hair, that comes from one of my personal headcanons: I imagine Panchito as being Tapatío, (from Jalisco) more specifically from Los Altos de Jalisco 🌄.

People from that region are often known for being güeros, sometimes even red-haired, with warm, sun-kissed skin and freckles ☀️🤠. Since Panchito is a gallo colorado (red rooster) , I knew from the very beginning that I wanted him to be red-haired it just felt right ❤️🔥.
