Reasoning: Happy! Though this is a great example of a female rat in heat! The scratching, the extreme hyperness, jumpiness, and shaking of the head/ears are all the sign that she's in heat! This isn't a problem, of course, just an observation. Sometimes, if you grab a female rat in heat, she may 'seize up' and get tense. While it looks very disturbing, it's just her tensing because her body thinks it's about to get mated. No action is required, just stay calm and remind yourself it's just ratty biology :)

Ana was a very energetic girl and this is actually how she was on a normal day. Weird, right? We've had does since 2013 and never saw anyone behave like this before or since. When Ana was in heat, she was even jumpier than what you see in the video. One time she was meant to mate with a buck, she kept running in circles, kicking him and trying to mount him herself!

But as I said, this was her normal behavior. It was so peculiar we had to film it because we knew nobody would believe us if we said Ana was like this. We miss her and her silly antics dearly :']

Sleep well, our sweet child!

Brigitte was such a gentle soul, sensitive, and soft all around. She loved to nap, eat, and groom Dad E's beard. There's a Brigi-shaped hole in our hearts right now, and it will take time to heal it...
