#2 : “Stranger Things” (tribute)

We decided to do a Stranger Things tribute as half of us has finished watching the series and thoroughly enjoyed the soundtrack and sound design.

In this particular piece, I debut my E-Bow plus and play the melody akin to a string quartet by playing harmonies via looping on Guitar Rig. We all agreed that this was our best performance for this piece. We ended the piece with dialogue from Will in the series.

I was also thankful to hear feedback later in the evening from our new juniors that they felt inspired by this piece after we performed it.

“STRANGER THINGS”

Ensemble #1 - 19/08/16

Inspired by the “1980′s” sci-fi sitcom, Stranger Things. We set out to create a piece that embodied the action filled series. My Role:

I added a haunting vocal line, “I’m trying to reach you”, to represent the character’s Will longing to reconnect with the real world. The vocals were also effected through my Roland VT3 to add the radio effect. It was then run through ableton, to give the vocals space and dimension. I also took over Guna’s role and added a radio effect. Towards the end I added a sample of Will singing, just to add to the story. I also helped with the dynamic contour of the piece by conducting. Purpose of the sub-question is to answer your main question.

It cannot just be a personal journey (Practice Based Paper).

In 'I Got You', the ethereal R&B single with singer Ffion, Shaykh returns to his producer moniker shaykhandbake, drifting away from the soul and gospel-infused buoyancy of Shaky Wrists, his project with fellow producer Chris Grosse (who was responsible for her debut single 'With U').

Known for her chill vibes & melancholic vocals , Ffion documents her life in forms of songs, in hopes people may find a way to relate to them.

The fresh faced songstress dropped her debut single, entitled 'with u', the romantic, full-bodied R&B cut is a superb introductory showcase for her evocative vocals. Ffion is currently under the NOISE Mentorship program & has hopes of playing her music overseas. The British vocalist may be a newcomer to the scene in Singapore, but with plans to release an EP before the end of 2016, it’s clear there is more to be expected from her.
