one final Thought from me before i attempt to call it a wrap on the qhughes saga of 2025-26: vancouver as a city and as a fanbase cares a lot about the canucks. we care when they’re good, when they’re bad, and when they’re floundering in-between — some people express this more antagonistically or divisively than others, but they’re there and they care nonetheless.

when it feels like your former captain didn’t care in return? that’s what sucks. players can want to live in a different city or play for a better team, and that’s their prerogative. but when you hear, after the fact, that he wasn’t with the team when they found out about the trade (even though he knew it was coming)? when you hear him say he doesn’t really know many guys on the current team, even though he was the captain of 16/20 of its players? when you revisit the stories of him not really being present at charitable events, or remember how the “captain’s” skates in preseason were happening but he hadn’t even returned to the city yet?

anyways. sure would suck to have a hockey card binder with pages full of his cards that you not only collected but actively sought out and paid for 😹

You can say a lot about Vancouver and its fanbase but as someone who is a Vancouver native, this place breathes hockey and the Canucks. It’s a completely different city when the Canucks are in the playoffs vs not but the one thing that never changes is the devotion this city has to its team. It’s a hockey town in every way. So for such a beloved CAPTAIN of all people to disregard that after both the management and the city gave him their everything (especially considering how other players like Brock, Petey, and even Miller who want to play for this city, have been treated by management and the fans) it’s just so jarring and hurtful for him to disregard that devotion.

As another Vancouver native, you may have heard me say Fuck JT for the past few years. I would like to change what I said and turn it into fuck Quinn. I had a lot of hope for our community with him leading it but clearly he is not ready, willing or mature enough to be a leader or a valuable member of a team beyond his skills. I get he is a generational talent, but I don’t care much about your ability if you are turning out to be a shit human on the other side. Just my two cents.
