She clicks her tongue. It’s only fitting that her words are thrown back at her. But it’s true, going alone would prove to be hazardous and has been so in the past in her prior attempts. This is the closest she’s come to actually finding out just what’s going on in this part of the sector and she’s not going to let it pass her by. For that reason, she concedes that Ryuko’s assistance is much needed and shrugs her shoulders in defeat. “I guess I did say something like that.”
“I’ll look out for you, but the moment you start to slow me down then I’m going to leave you behind.” That’s not a threat, it’s a half-hearted promise for what might come to pass. It’s said to give Ryuko the motivation to be serious if anything. Pocketing the invitation, Rin starts walking. “Come on, don’t wanna be late for whatever it is that they planned to meet up for.” With nothing but the dim street lights and bright neon signs from various establishments to guide them, they make their way. And after a few twists and turns and ducking and dodging out of alleyways, they finally come to a solitary corner of an area with nothing but what seems to be an abandoned warehouse. Rin stays in the safety of the dark, Ryuko right behind her.
There, at the entrance stands two men guarding it. And up walked a few members who are promptly let inside. “We don’t have disguises, so I’m going to have to talk us through the door. You can just…stand there and look menacing. That shouldn’t be too hard for you.”
She can’t resist the urge to roll her eyes at Rin’s warning. Of course she has no way of knowing who she’s dealing with -- they’ve only just met, after all -- but Ryuko finds it amusing all the same. There isn’t much of a point in arguing, though she has plenty of evidence that would verify her own capabilities. It seems that her new ‘friend’ is a natural-born leader, so the young delinquent is content to follow with a sigh, allowing herself to be swept up in the chaos of their mission. For all of her past opposition to authority, she doesn’t mind being given orders; whether or not she follows them is simply a matter of her own discretion.
Admittedly, these slums are different from the ones she knows. There’s signage and establishments of some repute among the wreckage -- a stark contrast to the ramshackle wooden huts that lined the depths of Honnoji. She takes in what she can through the obfuscating dark, following one step behind Rin to ensure their safety.
“Sure, I can do menacing.” Few expressions come more naturally to her than a chilling glare. She cracks her knuckles as they prepare their grand entrance, clearly anticipating a less-than-peaceful endeavor. “I know you didn’t ask,” she murmurs, “but I’m armed. If they’re packing heat, get behind me -- and don’t act like you’re too good to back down from a fight. My blade’s bulletproof, so unless you wanna eat lead, you’re gonna have to trust me.”
