heâd thought the cape would be less obtrusive â but no, leo still finds himself catching it on nigh anything he passes, when he least expects. still, itâs far too late to remove it without losing face, he feels, and so he will suffer silently. zero has surely noticed by now, but for once has had the good grace, if such exists within him, not to remark upon it.
it still surprises him, that he managed to ask his retainer to accompany him here. heâs not even entirely certain why he wished to attend, only that it had seemed like a good idea at the time, and only if the other had decided to accompany him instead of laughing it off or otherwise refusing. thereâs a nagging thought that perhaps he only accepted out of duty rather than any willingness or want to attend, but just for this moment leo will try to forget.
in the midst of his ill-timed reflection and self-doubt, he is interrupted as zero speaks up for perhaps just the second time this evening. it catches him off guard â surely he must have misheardâŠ
<<Parties are never fun. I donât know why I â >> he shakes his head and refocuses his gaze upon the other. he hasnât misheard.
<<A dance. With me. Is that what you said?>> he stops for a moment, words on the tip of his tongue and an overabundance of emotion fluttering about his head. should he feel strangely about this? somehow it seems like an extension of what he had wanted, from deep within: more time with him, to figure everything out. the first thing that comes out of his mouth this time isnât quite what he had hoped it to be. <<Do you even know how to dance, Zero?>>
Itâs a rather cute look, Zero thinks. Leo was never really a hard person to embarrass, especially since all one had to do was point out whether his clothes were on backwards or not, but it still made the outlawâs lips curl in an amused smile. He chuckled lightheartedly at his words - not expecting him to ask him that, but he canât say heâs too surprised either. Though he doesnât indulge much in the activity nowadays, he did know how to dance.
âA dance. With you. My, Lord Leo. Iâm rather worried that you
might be losing your hearing. Do remember to take care of your
   body.â
Gently, he took Leoâs hand in his after his teasing, giving his lord a bow with the amused smile still on his face. His hand was soft, warm. He couldnât help but give it a gentle squeeze, wanting to feel more of it. Dark blue eyes look right up at him, twinkling in the light of the ballroom. He pulled him from his seat, leading him to the dance floor. It was filled with people, so they could blend in easily if they needed to, which he figured he might want to if heâs so embarrassed right now.
âAnd here I thought you knew everything about me. I suppose
I canât fault you too much. You hired me to kill, not to dance. To
answer your question, I do know how to dance. And Iâm more
than willing to show you how I can move...â
