One Sunday Night, we had Water Ice.
"Mango."
Lifting a spoonful of golden crushed ice to my mouth, I took a bite. It was refreshingly cold and I loved the way the ice felt against my teeth. It was almost painful. I hid the sting of cold water ice with a gracious smile, and my eyes met with yours.
"Mango is disgusting," you nudged me with your elbow and smiled, too. And the sting of your skin against mine was more refreshing and just as painful.
I have been in pure agony over the thought of you for months, and somehow I was twisting a conversation about water ice into something passionate and romantic. Oh, my imagination is cruel. I tried to stay grounded, though it's so easy to lose my composure around you.
I watched you select cherry water ice, and burned with envy over the ice that would soon leave your lips stained blood red.Â
I reached for the gold tube of lipstick resting on the middle of the vanity, and admired the reflection of my soft pink nails in the mirror. My hands have never looked so dainty and fragile. All my life I've been told how pretty I am, but I never felt very pretty or feminine.
I pressed the lipstick to my bottom lip, and dragged the tube from side to side. My naturally blood red lips began to soften to a neutral peach. Pressing my lips together I studied my face in the mirror. I hardly recognized myself.Â
Finished chapter one of my very first fiction! It's a good feeling.
"It was the beginning of December, and winter was showing up in subtle ways. Frost haunted the windshields of cars in the morning, trees were bare except a few leaves who refused to fall, and Christmas music proudly played on the radio."
You're a gifted writer:)
You're an inspiration. Thank you.
The memory of him hits me
like an unexpected chill of wind
seeping in through a closed door.
Shivers up my spine
through my heart, lungs,
and out of my lips.
Catch you with my teeth
and swallow you again.Â
Imagine a character very like you but give him or her a dramatic external alteration. You might make the character the opposite sex, for example, or make them significantly older or younger. You choose. Now write a brief character sketch in which you reveal the character's appearance, their feelings about it, and their current circumstances. Use a third-person narrator (‘he’ or ‘she’).
Myslef, as a male.
He is handsome enough to stand out in a crowd of people, but strangely, he does not. He has perfected the art of invisibleness. His brown hair falls around his dark blue eyes like soft fresh snow, that he nervously runs his fingers through when the slightest taste of discomfort comes his way. He has found the least threatening spot in a room full of strangers and waits there quietly for the 4 o'clock train. He loves to drown out the sounds of the world around him with music through his white tangled ear buds, but in the hurry of the morning, he has forgotten them. In the absence of his musical companion, he taps a familiar beat with his teeth, rhythmically alternating between the right and left side of his mouth. With his hands buried into the depths of his pockets, he studies the people around the station while carefully resisting eye contact with the ones who notice him.Â
I found this wonderful course online through a google search. This is what I will be attempting to complete on my blog here. If you are interested in fictional writing, look this over.
Insert first post.
Hey there, I'm e.s. I've always felt the drive to write. I love that there is so much opportunity to create something that is so unique to the writer. This my attempt to write fiction. Here we go.Â
