Have some HOT don’t starve fanart
Holy shit guys my first ever Hoxton safe and I get a legendary from it. For once after years of opening various forms of safes/crates/boxes in games I get something good.
p.s. Sorry for not posting anything in like forever I’ll maybe start posting shit again soon, maybe more payday comics maybe some other cancer who knows.
tfw you do the monthly side job and We do it live achievement then they make it easier by changing it to require suits instead of heavy armour
:(
So I’m playing as Sokol and I start a lobby and the model seems to have glitched and made me Dallas with Sokol’s stylish hair
So I broke fwb, it’s loud but the objective says to disable metal detectors so I can’t place the drill but I can’t disable the metal detectors cause it’s loud. I’m just stuck here at the front of the bank unable to do anything forever.
This is what happened to me when I tried to get the skill shot achievement.
So angry.
That feel when you do overdrill on dw and you lag out at the end and the host has that bug that makes a game unjoinable after a while so you can’t reconnect :(
I dunno if any of you guys know that feel but I certainly do. This happened to me and it made me sadder than the sad empty husk I am usually.
Hopefully this will end a lot of the confusion about these microtransactions and weapon skins in payday 2. In the end I payed like $2.50 for a skin that gives a measely +4 Accuracy. Compare that to an entire mod pack that you could get for $4.99 and it’s a wonder why people think this is game breaking.
the principal of the matter was Almir said the we should be ashamed for thinking micro transactions would happen. Not to mention as someone who almost to a fault strives to be at the best ability I can at the damn thing the fact that I won’t be the best unless I buy A CHANCE to get a shittily colored gun is bullshit. 4 accuracy goes a long fucking way when you get down too it.
Not to mention the update has killed three very successful mods and also my 9mm glock does more damage than a 20 gauge shotgun and my matever revolver hurts almost as much as a fucking 50 cal sniper rifle.
The mods will be back Overkill just had to change the way lua stuff in the game worked seeing as the game now has tradeable items and it would be a massive problem if someone was to mod the game to give themselves said items and then sell them for real money which would have been possible with the way the lua based files worked previously. So yes mods aren’t dead they just need to be coded in a different way.

I re blogged this twice to get the point across. Hily shit someone else gets it! They dont break the game!!
I wish there was more sensible people like you. All these people losing their shit is really taking the fun away from crimefest this year. I really do feel sorry for Overkill right now getting bashed by all these people over nothing

To me it’s game breaking more in a aesthetic/spiritual way than in the gameplay. PayDay used to be kind of serious with some goofy part (especially with the masks, or some situations per example), but it was well measured. I feel like they are all trying to put too much random shit stamped as “fun” in order to make PayDay the next Team Fortress 2.
That feeling already started slowly before, I was a bit disappointed with the idea behind DLCs like the Completely Overkill Pack or Western Pack (but fortunately, they made it so that bringing a minigun in a bank heist, per example, actually feel like bringing a minigun in a bank, heavy, low on ammo and kind of inappropriate. Until now). The Alesso heist was ridiculously irrelevant (like if you go loud, there is a fucking war but the gig is still going??) but there weren’t that feeling like the whole game was going bad. The silly weapon skin is the last straw.
I mean, I know the whole game serie is not fully realistic (you can’t just flee the fucking FBI with an old 70′s van), but there still were the same feeling you have when you see a good action movie. It’s not realist but at the very least it was plausible. Having this shit on the crimefest is like watching a bland sequel where your action movie is turn on a cheesy comedy where your actors don’t know what to do because they did not sign up for that script.
Eh personally I never really felt Payday 2 was a serious game but if you wanna play the game seriously you can nobody is forcing anyone to use goofy weapons like bows or flamethrowers you can do just fine (usually better) without them. It’s not like it’s something that you need to be able to play the game the option is just there for people that want it (and trust me there are people that want it). The same goes for the weapon skins nobody is forcing anyone to use it (in fact there is an option that comes up when you first go into crime.net after the update that allows you to turn off weapon skins if that’s not your style).
In the end you have the option to play with or without weapon skins depending on your style but all these people ranting about how much they hate weapon skins follows the toddler mentality of “I don’t like something therefore nobody is allowed it”. People are free to play the game how they want and getting upset by overkill adding something that they don’t want and aren’t forced to use even when there are other people that are happy to have it is silly and childish.
You kind of missed my point, I’m not saying that odd weapons are bad (so far the only weapons on which I was a bit reluctant were the golden AK and the random melee weapons from Alesso), nor some weapon skin that I can desactivate, it’s just the whole thing that looks bad. The safe stuff (even if this don’t have to fit the lore, it ruins the game feeling to me), the characters overusing their gimmicks, the new masks that looks more like a TF2 asset than actually masks…
Of course I don’t think that PayDay is a simulator in any ways, nor that it have a heavy storyline (just some background plot that was about to get bigger). But you can’t deny that there still is a huge difference between the original PayDay and a show-off shooting game such as Team Fortress 2 in terms of spirit. I liked the mask personalization per example, as well as the other masks in the DLCs as long as it didn’t make me feel like in a MMORPG which running out of ideas (it didn’t yet). But microtransactions are the first step to a “lolrandom” item shitstorm. This didn’t matter in Counter-Strike because litterally no one give a shit about this game’s lore, it didn’t matter in Team Fortress 2 because they were able to explain it without putting the lore in disarray (not that hard with Team Fortress tho, they even improved it). But it matter in PayDay 2 because it just don’t fit. And don’t tell me the lore don’t matter in this game, we’ve been having a web serie and a whole main thread with the Dentist and the Hoxton Breakout as well as short films along the game. I just need a better introduction than just Vlad going like a bling-bling gangsta that repeatedly says “sputnik” as a running joke. It also don’t fit the means of payment because PayDay 2 is filled with DLCs (most of which are now useless because of the recent “rebalance” by the way), I’ve studied on how to fund a video game and this just sound like a marketing guy who is thinking “this thing work on other games, I want this in MY game” and nothing else.
The saddest part, and the part that made me feel really bad about this update, is that decisions like this also are reasons why most of the funding devs left Overkill, leaving it to people that may care less about the game’s spirit.
I don’t think the addition of microtransactions is going to lead to just completely crazy items, I believe what is going to happen is when the workshop is introduced overkill will pick out the best community skins and add them into future crates giving the community creators a cut of the proceeds similar to the valve model. I don’t think for example it’s gonna lead to say giant fish melee weapon or wacky laser guns.
As for fitting the lore well look at it this way all it is pretty much is Vlad has made a deal with a larger crime organisation and those people are willing to hydro dip weapons (hydro dipping weapons is a thing that happens in real life too and if you google it there are designs that are way crazier than the skins that have been added).
As for the drilling safes thing it’s just the best balance they could make blending realism with still being able to work in form of a videogame. No matter how you go about it with the whole microtransaction thing following the crate model you gotta have a box and something to open which is why they chose safes and drills so it’s still related to the payday universe but y’know still follows the formula.
As for saying it doesn’t fit the means of payment because payday 2 is filled with DLC I’d also disagree with that when it comes down to it whether it’s payed DLC or digital items brought in an in game store both are the same thing, in game content that you pay money for. If overkill took one of their weapon packs and put it in an in game store rather than have it as DLC on the store page on steam how would it be different from games like TF2 where there is a store you can buy content you can only get through the store while also having other items only obtainable through microtransactions?
As for the point you made about weapons being made useless since the balance update personally I found more weapons were buffed than nerfed and none of the weapons I personally used were changed all that much

Thank you Overkill. Just thank you.
Also don’t mind all the haters atm I love payday but I gotta admit the community is a bunch of babies that complain about anything that is different and/or not free. Remember the community was furious when they added Wick (and continue to be for every new character), get angry over every single paid weapon pack or heist but nobody seems to care about all the free heists and weapon mods overkill give us. I like the microtransactions it means overkill can afford to keep making and releasing big content updates for free and if the upcoming workshop follows a similar model to how valve do it which I assume it will then it’ll be a way to give back to modders and community members as they will most likely get a cut of the proceeds if their skins get into the game.
?????
Crimefest was advertised to have free content for everyone and now we’re getting microtransactions that literally contradict everything Overkill has said in the past about microtransactions.
We’re complaining for a good reason for once, jesus christ. They make more then enough money on the loads of DLC, and if they wanted more money, maybe work on another paid DLC heist or something we actually want.
This microtransaction model that Overkill is doing is actually pay to win, except it’s for a game you have to pay to play. Those ugly skins give you benefits that other players couldn’t have without forking over money. This is somewhat comparable to the slight power creep with DLCs, but at least the DLC weapons were interesting or different. These are just awful reskins.
While what you said (about modding and community members) may be true, it’s simply not justification for the people who AREN’T modders or community specialists.
If you want to continue to support Overkill through this crap, then please, at least think long term about this. This isn’t a good idea to support this awful marketing.
Alrighty let me address a couple of things yes Overkill has said in the past that they weren’t going to add microtransactions but well things change and the gaming market is changing and for whatever reason they decided to change their opinion and follow the trend. As for crimefest being advertised to have free content well technically the safes are free and technically you can trade for the drills (Yes I agree it’s kinda sly but technically it’s free).
Now saying the skins make it pay to win is a bit of a stretch, from what I can gather so far in my experience very few of the skins actually have any stats and those that do the boost isn’t really that major and usual also has a downgrade to go with the upgrade similar to current weapon mods. None of the skins at least that I have seen make any weapon overpowered but let’s say for arguments sake that there is a skin out there with a stat that makes it overpowered why is that really a problem? I mean Payday 2 isn’t a pvp game it’s a coop game if someone has a better weapon than you it doesn’t do anything but help you out.
When you stop to think about it it’s really no different than current weapon mods (Think of it as the 80′s calling mod for Jacket’s piece but for more weapons) only instead of paying like $5 for a mod pack you can instead pay like 60c to get it off of the market or trade some cards or something for one.
Thank you Overkill. Just thank you.

Look I know a lot of people are gonna be pissed about this but personally I’m really fucking amped for this whole weapon skin thing. Fuck yeah Vlad theres a reason why you were always my favourite character. Bring on the rest of Crimefest baby
Captain Winters is scary and his band of merry shielded men are tough and mean.
Wow it’s been a while hasn’t it? Sorry for the lack of the posting I’ve been busy being lame. Bet you were expecting a cool new payday comic about this new enemy guy, nope you get this anime trash instead. I’ll probs do one about the new payday guy though or I won’t whatevs I’ll do what I want cause i am a strong independent black woman that needs no man.
