These are SO beautiful, the drawing style is so clear to show the unique characteristics of each species!! I live in California and adore watching buckeyes flitting across my lawn, and the swallowtails are just gorgeous head-turners flying through my mulberry trees -- they can move fast! Haven't seen as many buckeyes as I used to, hmmm, wonder why.

That’s fascinating and important to know about sea daffodils, that’s why we really should leave nature just as we found it instead of taking “mementos” when we’re out hiking or swimming … one never knows when we may be endangering a species in decline. I really hope that more is done to protect the sea daffodil, now you’ve piqued my curiosity about them! Some of my favorite species live in vernal pools in California where 90% have been lost in development over the past hundred years, so it’s vital to support conservation efforts to keep these and so many other natural habitats safe.

Jayce's immense love visible in that look ... and then he hugs Viktor. Just the sensational overload for Viktor at this point, because Jayce doesn't even know that touching Herald Viktor means that Vik can see all his memories. Viktor is experiencing the overwhelming tactile sensation of touch and love from Jayce while simultaneously seeing the end of his reality at his own hand. That's a mind fuck right there. No wonder the Herald mask exploded and the real Viktor swam to the surface and just had a breakdown ....

Oh shit ... this just breaks my heart 💔 He's so exhausted, defeated, and forlorn in the first image, but it's the second one that rips me up. Him leaning against the metal structure, face downcast as his teeth grit with almost visceral pain at the thought of what he has done. Hair just falling in front of his eyes, he doesn't even care where he's going. He has to push on, of course, but right now, his heart is completely empty.
HUUUUUGGSSSSSSSSSS JAYCE TALIS WITH MY ENTIRE BEING
I feel like one aspect of Viktor that often gets overlooked is his relationship with movement. Especially in post-canon explorations, where his leg and spine pain have vastly improved, Jayce is almost always framed as the “athletic” one, while Viktor is imagined as the one who would rather lounge and read. And as always: you’re free to picture them however you like. This is just me sharing my perspective on what canon might suggest.
From my very first watch of the show, what stood out to me was how elegant Viktor’s movements are. The animators did a wonderful job of making everything he does feel deliberate - partly, I think, because his disability forces him to move with care, but also because that thoughtfulness is simply part of who he is.
The first glimpse we get of what Viktor would be like if he were fully able-bodied is his run at the docks. That scene made me cry the first time I saw it, and it still does. You can see him pouring his whole heart into every step — this is Viktor being free, if only for a fleeting moment.
The other, and most telling, example is during the council room fight, when Viktor moves through one of his dolls. It’s less a fight and more like a choreographed dance. And because it’s literally his mind guiding the doll, we see his own natural sense of grace, creativity, and — dare I say — sensuality, when unrestrained.
That’s why I think: if there is a post-finale Viktor who lives with less pain, then once he makes it past all the gestures vaguely trauma, he would absolutely revel in his freedom to move. Maybe he goes for runs, maybe for swims, or maybe he just dances around the kitchen in their cottage. It’s hard to picture fully, because we only ever got glimpses of a Viktor without pain — but I’m convinced that within him lives someone who genuinely loves to move.
This analysis is so beautiful. Viktor's deliberateness of movement not only stems from a lifetime of navigating a disability, but it reminds me of a certain personality system (vultology) where a mind's cognitive architecture is found to be expressed in minute physical motions in the face and body. Mind and body are intimately connected; Viktor's thoughtfulness in habit and body reflects a fairly introverted and analytical mode of being that observes and then perfects whatever act he sets himself to do. Whether moving in a deliberate and elegant way akin to a dance to seeking the highest attainment of that perfection and freedom from suffering in the Glorious Evolution, Viktor's sense of idealism in both the micro and macro levels is a deep part of who he is.
Forgive the personality nerd in me coming out, but I really think he's a Ji-lead in the cognitive type personality system, as reflected in some quotes from articles linked further below:
This individual's movements are described as "exacting," "calculating," and there is "momentum halting" as seen in the second GIF above in the OP post where Viktor pauses in thought before grasping his crutch, his fingers caught in mid-splay. That's a very classic Ji-vultology signal of the body (which I possess myself, also being a Ji-lead).
Ji-leads are described thusly:
"There is an obsession in the person's mind to be and live right by one's ideals, to be true in word and deed, and to never yield."
They long to "embody whatever would be the most perfect and beautiful manifestation of themselves according to a ideal they envision in terms of ethical values, character and aesthetic."
"Many a Ji type will be stubbornly idealistic and feel 'no compromise is a good compromise' and will fight for their utopian vision of people, society and the world at large."
"The Ji function can produce rather abundant feelings of guilt, low self-worth and inadequacy. When the mind is preoccupied with such high visions and aspirations, it is often the case that the state of oneself pales in comparison."
"It will manifest an acute attention to detail in their crafts, and be picky about shapes, colors, textures and forms. When working on an art-piece, the participation of Ji may lead to a more precise final product, or to no product at all as they may be incapable of settling on a direction or accepting the appearance of what they've produced."
While not every Ji-lead will display the "mythic narrative" of this process as a Ji archetype in society, Viktor appears to hit these markers, too, with these quotes exemplifying commune Viktor's two-sides-of-the-same-coin final realization and Mage Viktor's epiphany that perfection can never be realized:
"The world is never perfect; one is never perfect. Always things will fall short of the ideal, and always one will not be fully and intimately understood by others. The Ji function understands this more than any other, and thus feels a deep sorrow towards this ever-pressing state of affairs."
The last quote below reflects Viktor acting as the moral compass in S1 and even Heimerdinger's observation of him as high up in his "steel oasis" i.e. like the tower of a castle. Even Viktor's rejection of Jayce in S2 on moral grounds and his passivity, i.e. waiting for others to reach out to him, are evidence of his Ji-lead personality that takes an exacting, deliberate relationship with the world:
"Archetypally, the compass type is represented as a princess locked away in her high tower or castle. The tower, in this case, represents their Ji's private, utopian ideology which oversees the world, aiming to rise above it but which also segregates them from others both conceptually and physically. There is an exacting element to Ji's archetypal nature which places the burden of reaching-out on others. In coveting her own energies and remaining aloof to the world, the princess is in a reactive position; awaiting for an outside force, situation or suitor to win over her favor. In a practical sense this manifests as Ji types being picky about love and romance, often vetoing prospective partners based on some perceived incompatibility either in ideology or temperament. The second role of the prince or princess is to be the calibrator and safeguard to the tyranny of the King (Je). The princess, in her principled understanding, is able to see when the King's actions are out of alignment with the primary reason for his governance. The King without the counterbalance from the Princess would "rule for the sake of rule", but this proclivity is counteracted when both Ji and Je are properly aligned in ideology, motive and action."
