We are mortal and we are temporary and we should use our lives to care for one another.
and yet we dance ...
“Jesus said to them in reply, ‘Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.’”
Matthew 11:4-5
Jesus literally lists his inclusion of the poor in his teaching and ministry as one of the acts bearing witness to his identity as the Messiah, right alongside the miraculous healings of the sick and resurrection of the dead. There’s no way to truly be his body on earth and exclude the poor and marginalized.
“Christians have the duty to proclaim the Gospel without excluding anyone. Instead of seeming to impose new obligations, they should appear as people who wish to share their joy, who point to a horizon of beauty and who invite others to a delicious banquet. It is not by proselytizing that the Church grows, but ‘by attraction.’”
Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium
