Shall we take a few seconds of this day to appreciate how great Ares is? Absolutely.
Listen, Ares is not about swallowing your tears. Ares is all about feeling. Feel your anger, feel your sadness, feel your happiness. One of the things he’s trying to teach me is that I have to deal with my pain, I have to learn and grow from it. I cannot ignore what is hurting, because I will never grow stronger if I do. And whenever I’m ahsamed for crying, he’s there to remind me that I have to feel, and if that means crying until I don’t have more tears, then so it is. Do not be ashamed of crying, it doesn’t make you weak. Feel what you have to feel, because that is how you grow.
Ares is 100% just a supportive dad who will throw hands with your negative emotions
“Ares caught sight of Halirrhothius, a son of Poseidon, pursuing his daughter, Alcippe. Pursuit turned to annoyance and subsequently harassment as Halirrhothius displayed the fierce lust for young women he inherited from his father. When harassment turned to rape, however, Ares didn’t hesitate for a moment to brutally murder Poseidon’s son.
Poseidon, disinterested in the plight of Alcippe, was furious at Ares and called a meeting of the gods the likes of which there had never been before. Rather than meet on Mount Olympus, Poseidon convened the immortals into a court of law (the first of its kind) in the city he had lost to Athena. It was on a low hill in Athens, then, that Poseidon made his case against the God of War, calling him by all the abominable names known to man and god. The gods listened and awaited Ares’s response to the accusations of his cold-blooded murder of a fellow immortal’s son. Ares’s defense was simple: Halirrhothius suffered the fate of a rapist.”

Praise Ares
I praise the deathless one who drives crushing cowardice out of my chest with a mere flick of his golden fingers. Hail to the Olympian who understands my rioting heart, and helps me live with it.
I call to you, blessed son of almighty Zeus, he who pleases the loving goddess Aphrodite with her shining tresses, father of Fear, Revenge, Dread, and Harmony among others.
May my words please you on this day, and may my future deeds prove myself worthy of the blessings you bestow upon me.

I want to start working with deities but I don’t know how to find my deity. Do you have any tips?
(I’m responding to this assuming that you’re interested in Hellenic polytheism, because that’s what I’m well-versed in!)
Hey! So first, don’t feel any pressure to “find your deity”. There is no rule that a deity has to approach you, or give you any earth-shattering signs in order to worship them. Many people choose to worship more broadly, including whatever deities they feel would be able to assist them with their current life situations. You can structure your worship in any way that feels right to you!
Many people who come from monotheistic religions like to start by focusing on a specific deity. If this is what you’re interested in, I recommend starting with research. Learn about any Hellenic deities that interest you. If you find yourself getting especially excited about any specific one, go deeper into your research about them. Keep an eye out for signs associated with them, but don’t hyper-focus on this. Not everyone will receive signs, and as a newbie you may not even be able to recognize them yet.
Follow wherever your heart leads you. If you find that you’re interested in a certain deity, try worshipping them! Below I’ll leave ideas, some of which will require casting a circle (for protection), and others that won’t.
Without casting a circle you can:
• Pray the old-fashioned way. Just talk out loud or in your head to your deity. Tell them about your day, and give them thanks for all they do for you.
• Write them a letter. Tell them you’re interested in worshipping them, and tell them your feelings about it. Tell them about your day, your struggles, your gratitude, etc.
• Do a devotional activity. (Ex: if you’re worshipping a deity who rules over music, you can sing or play an instrument for them).
• Leave an offering. Build an altar if you want to (it’s not a requirement). Set out some food, coins, art, etc. and tell your deity that you left it for them.
• Build an altar. Collect objects that represent your deity. (Note: you don’t have to have an altar, worship is not at all about “stuff”. If you are unable to make an altar that is 100% okay and your practice is still valid)
With casting a circle you can:
• Reach out to your deity using divination. Tarot, pendulum, candle flame, etc. Tell them you want to start worshipping them, and ask what they think! Ask them if they have any messages for you, and read tarot/oracle cards to receive the message.
• Meditate to communicate with them (this practice is more advanced). Meditate within your circle, and “reach out” mentally to your deity. See if you receive any intuitive messages or visions. (This is really hard to do so don’t beat yourself up if it doesn’t work)
I hope this helps! Feel free to ask me any more questions you have 🖤

turn off your adblocker and do not skip ads. between each time watch 3-5 other videos (mix it up) before restarting. this will ensure you aren’t marked as spam by youtube. mute the tab if you need to focus elsewhere but don’t mute the video itself. and let. it. play.
youtube will donate to blm for you.
please, please reblog. for people who don’t have money to spare, this is incredibly important information to have.
What Can I Do If I Can’t Attend a Protest?
(What you can do as a white ally to make a difference)
In the wake of the murder of George Floyd and countless other POC people by police, we need to demand change. Voicing your concern on social media is not enough.
Here are some things you can do to be an activist from your house:
1.) I have written an email template that you can copy and paste. It is meant to be sent to the police departments in your area, demanding the use of body-worn cameras, and the employment of evidence-based Police de-escalation training (inspired by this article, which you should read). This is a measure meant to add accountability to officers, and protect your POC comrades. (written by @thewitchjournal)
Email Template: https://cl1p.net/policechange
2.) Another email template that you can send to your local police department, voicing your concern about police brutality. (written by @anotherloudblonde)
Email Template: https://docs.google.com/document/d/133xuiqKwAIoRa0cbVgPiQLwuqUyCFFjKNjcFUo0XIF0/edit
3.) Visit https://www.justiceforbigfloyd.com and do the following steps:
Sign the petition, which gets directly emailed to the Minneapolis County Attorney Michael Freeman.
Call the number. It will walk you through what to do, and then connect you to the local city officials in Minneapolis. As long as you press the * key, it will continue to connect you to the next official.
If you don’t know what to say, read this script:
“We demand that the officers involved in the murder of George Floyd be arrested because firing them is not enough.”
It will only take a few minutes. Call every day, multiple times a day. Fill their mailboxes. Let your voice be heard.
Please. I urge you to follow these steps and reblog this post. We demand change. We will continue to say their names.
An important message:
Hey everyone. As someone going through the process to become a priestess of Apollo, there is something important I need to say about priest/priestesshood.
If someone claims to be a priest/priestess, and they use their title to manipulate or threaten you, run the other direction.
There is no reason someone should be using their title to manipulate you into doing what they want. Get as far away from them as possible. The gods will not punish you for choosing not to do their bidding.
Anyone can say they are a priest(ess). Not everyone can earn this title. It must be given to you by your deity, after a long road of challenges and hard work. You cannot just claim you are a priest(ess) for no reason.
If someone uses their title to threaten others, I would assume that they are not who they say they are. No true priest(ess) would use their title for leverage, or to demand a following.
(This DOES NOT mean you should ever accuse someone of lying just because they use the title. The best policy is to assume that someone using the title is truthful, unless you see them do something like what I mentioned above.)
Stay safe everyone. The gods will never threaten to harm you if you don’t do what someone says. Be wary of people who say otherwise.
