I opened tumblr again after a few years of completely forgetting its existence and i‘m feeling all nostalgic seeing the images and thoughts i put up here.
Even though it is incredibly hard not delete all the cringey shit i wrote, and instead keep that up like a weird page in a diary i can hopefully look back at in a few more years and smile about.
With every other social media turning into tiktok maybe it‘s time to give this one here another chance.
Hi! I stumbled upon your blog and i have a question. You seem like a really nice person and you’re successfully improving your health. I‘m trying to lose weight since years and it is always the same pattern of eating well for a week, binging on sugar until i gain it all back and then try to eat well again. Do you have any ideas or tips on how to break that circle? I feel like i am addicted to sugar.

I was totally addicted to sugar when I started, I knew I couldn’t cut it out completely. The most important thing I kept in mind was calories in calories out while I weaned myself off. Okay so you really really crave ice cream? Have a pre-portioned klondike bar or dessert within caloric limit (you want a sustainable deficit, don’t starve yourself!) and tell yourself how proud you are of the good decision you just made.
Still overeating? Before you eat: HALTT. Are you really hungry, or could it be that you’re anxious, lonely, thirsty, or tired.
More specifics on how I did it:
Replace ice cream with fruit smoothies (frozen fruit + milk) They’re both sweet and cold BUT smoothies are lower in caloric density so I feel like I’m binging on sweets but it’s always under 500 calories.
Don’t be afraid of fruit!! Yes it has sugar in it but they’re not refined sugars - they are natural and your body loves them. Eat fruit! Drink fruit infused water! Make smoothies! Fruit is full of vitamins and minerals your body loves!!
Move a little! Even if it’s changing the sheets, taking out the trash, or walking one loop around the building you live in. Hell, it could be walking to the bathroom for any kind of hygiene. Just move a tiny bit, you burn 3x as many calories when you walk as opposed to sitting still!
Most importantly: start over every morning. What you did yesterday doesn’t matter, what you do tomorrow doesn’t matter, every time you are faced with a decision try and make the healthy choice. Never ever hold a grudge against yourself, just start fresh in the morning.

There are so many little things i dont say because they seem to small to make a fuss about.
And then over time they assemble and i am annoyed and grumpy and every tiny thing seems big and blown out of proportion on that pile of little things. Ugh.
