“So you’re all some kinda bunch of exhibitionists or somethin’, huh? That’s kinky!”

How could he possibly turn this down? He reclines and crosses one leg over another beneath the table, smirking coyly. “Hm… sounds fascinating.” He pushes his drink aside. He would let not another drop touch his lips until he’s penalized and thereby obligated to do so.
Not that he intends on it.
“Sounds like I’ll be starting, then.”
A quid pro quo format with a consequence that makes getting the answers easier. It’s the perfect game for a man like Yan Qing. He’s all too familiar with the alcohol (immunity to it aside; he won’t be mentioning that), and even more so with high-stakes trials. Experience sees him become a snake before his acquaintance— one that ensnares and strangles indolently. He flashes his own tongue that should very well be forked before laughing. A mental note of the ink on the other’s tongue: a peculiar symbol. He won’t ask about it too soon, however, as that subtle glow behind black slits catches his eye far quicker. Eyebrows raise with enlightenment as to the particulars of a fitting way to begin their game. Yan Qing isn’t known for playing easy… or fair.
He straightens out in his chair and lays an arm along the length of the table; as close to the man as he could be without touching him. Concentrating, he would choose every word carefully: “My first question… won’t you show me what’s under your mask?” Beneath the table, he’s already busying himself with foiling the opponent. Shifting, he makes certain to brush a foot gently against the man’s leg. The tiniest of actions prove distracting, and with effort Yan Qing might get by with sealed lips.
A dangerous game, but a classic. Not the first time he’s played, but those times were usually at the guild, surrounded by broken wood and empty pints, with a guildmate or his teammates at the receiving end of his invasive questions. He doesn’t usually end up here, with a stranger on the other side, and not a single thing known to swipe off the table.
“Heh, wouldn’t be nice of the host t’ start off anyway!” He’s got no complaints-- he wants to see what this guy cooks up first. Besides, what’s the bad part? He drinks or he learns something interesting about his nightly companion. Either seem pretty damn good in his book.
Bickslow sniggers at the mimicking, glass merely being tilted back and forth inches above the scarred wood. But he is paying attention, quite raptly-- there’s not a lot he wants to miss here. He wants the arm that stretches out near him, taking the moment to examine before flickering his gaze back to those eyes, only blinking once at the question. Then twice, fingers lightly loosening their grip as something slides across his leg, concealed by the table. Alright, it distracts him for a moment. He’ll give’em that. Not like he isn’t a walking distraction anyway, but....
“Goin’ for the gold already? Geez, talk about not pullin’ any punches!” The glass doesn’t move, neither away nor closer, but his toothy grin falls into line, as if he’s deep in thought (not that it’s easy to tell, what with only have a visage to go off), before it splits his features again.
“I could.” It’s an answer, isn’t it? “But don’t ya think it’s something ya gotta earn? For instance....” He moves in the lightest, leaning forward with chin in hand and extending his leg just a bit further than what it was. His turn. “Why do ya wanna see it? Maybe I’m hidin’ it ‘cause I’m some freaky monster!”
“Yo, that one was pretty good!”
Eavesdropping is bad. Of course it is. But when someone’s talking out loud like that, it’s absolutely fine. Especially when their form of humour manages to draw a grin across his face (not that that’s a feat, of course). He’s out to grab the younger man’s attention, shoulders shaking with a laugh.
Puns...a classic.
“Ya seem pretty good at that, got any more?”
‘More! More!’ The five wooden totems floating around his head twirl in place, mimicking as usual.
@swordedaffair
Imagine, you’re walking down the sidewalk. Everything is going fine and dandy, and there’s finally not anything on fire. Besides the occasional rubble, your life is great.
Then you turn your head and a flying piece of wood nearly rams into your skull, going past at warpspeed.
Whether it’s a close call or not, somebody is laughing,
“Sorry ‘bout that! My babies are pretty excited t’be back!”
‘ back! back! ’ The wooden dolls hovering over his head chime in eerie, echoing tandem, probably the furthest thing from being not creepy. Classy.

“Oh? If that’s what it takes, let’s get you as much as you can handle.” His interest is piqued, but it becomes perplexing for him to discern what’s so alluring about the man, his games aside. “You can’t blame me for being curious.” Yan Qing, a skillfully mischievous soul, won’t settle for being left in the dark. The words roll off his tongue smooth as the rum sliding down his throat, which leaves a pleasant heat in its wake.
He hums contentedly at the carelessly truthful reply. “Honesty does get you everywhere, after all. But of course, that’s the answer I expected. … Still, can’t help wondering about you.” If they’re to judge by appearances, Yan Qing is significantly more ‘open’ and ‘flamboyant’ than his acquaintance. He leans back, as if intending to show off the floral, full body tattoo he originally wore for a similar purpose as gaining a mate’s attention. Bright colors on a pale canvas.
Hair dark as coal spilling over his shoulder as leans back in.
Plush lips placed gently to his glass time and again.
Everything makes him all the more appealing. Of this, he’s certain.
Another cackle escapes, fingers tightly gripping the glass and tilting it back to swig half the drink in one go. He’s good with liquor-- or so he’d think. He’s fond of the burn, not to mention the atmosphere and company just seems to make it sink in better. “Hah! If yer that eager, make sure to keep your word, then!” A thumb wipes at the corner of his mouth, followed by the lolling of a tattooed tongue. He wouldn’t be the first to say such things-- that tended to be the norm with his company.
“Don’t say? Glad I could impress.” Confidant? Not bad. He likes somebody who can throw the banter back and forth. Not to mention the very obvious way he shows off the designs on his chest, shielded eyes taking the moment to grasp the given opportunity. He’s used to the sight considering the people he knows, but this is a different situation, and this is a very different man. One who seems to enjoy dangling the string a little too close.
Not that he minds. It’s a hell of a nice sight.
“Me, eh...Wouldn’t blame ya, I’m pretty damn interesting!” By the way he snickers, it’s an obvious joke, rim of his glass lifted to skim the front of his lips. “If you wanna know that badly, how ‘bout a game?” There’s a glint of red between metal grates and a challenge, evidenced by the fact he doesn’t move to drink...not yet.
“You ask a question, I ask a question. Don’t wanna answer, then ya take a drink. Whaddaya think, baby?”

Bars and like establishments are among his favorite places to be. His inability to feel the effects of the spirits never put a damper on his enjoyment of the atmosphere. Shameless merriment, loosened lips, and heightened vulnerability serve as valuable assets to a man like Yan Qing: all of which can be found in this sort of venue. He has many and more potential options and outcomes, like mice in mazes. But in his case, the majority of his routes bear cheese at the end. Its why he can contentedly sit alone, in wait. Why he can smile so genuinely and malevolently in the same moment. And why he can welcome the first stranger to approach him with a mirrored, upbeat demeanor. “You’re right about that!” He admits cheerfully.
“No fun to be had in a solo dance— help yourself to a seat.” He leans in, fully attentive to the newcomer. However, he wouldn’t see anyone as prey… not tonight. Its just as natural for Yan Qing to use his charms and appeal for pure self-indulgence. He would feign nothing, he decided, but assure that he enjoys himself all at once. Resting one arm along the table and raising the glass to his lips with the other, he starts yet another trial in the maze.
“Interesting mask you hide behind, my friend. What have those eyes of yours seen? Oh, and more importantly… what do they see now?”
So the guy’s in a good mood! That’s a plus. A bit harder to work with people in a bitter mood, but he’d have tried regardless. His smile never diminishes as he hooks a chair with his foot to pull it out, plopping down without hesitation and causing the table to gently rattle. A night well spent is underway, in his eyes.
“Don’t mind if I do, baby!” A bit of rum spills out and leaves amber droplets on the table inches from his hand, but he doesn’t seem too concerned. Rather, he mimics the other’s action, only instead opting to fiddle with his glass instead while his hand presses into his cheek. He’s thirsty, sure, but might as well get some other stuff outta the way first. Like the question directed at him, which earns a laugh as he taps the mask with one painted nail.
“Hihi, you curious? Could say I’ve seen a lot, but it’s gonna take a little more booze to get what outta me.” The carefree tone in his voice is near constant, but he does catch that hint the other’s throwing him, and he’s not one to turn down a challenge.
“As for right now? Well, if ya want honesty....” Bickslow gives his glass a swish, letting the moment hang before he throws the bone back. “They’re not seein’ anything hard on the eyes, that’s for sure!”
alright that old ad is a little obsolete due to the event dropping/a lot of family popping in and dragging me away from writing, so let’s get another one down. this ad is still uncapped, so hit that like if u want a guy who doesn’t know his tongue is supposed to stay in his mouth

There’s only so much a guy can do when the norm isn’t an option. There’s no normal guild hall to return to, or pages on the job board to pull down and tuck away, or even a familiar back to follow. It’s a little boring-- but the recent events turned that on it’s head, that’s for sure. After everything, a little unwinding is perfect, right? A reward for himself for a job well done.
But...it’s not the same. Well, not without an Ever to pester or a Freed to berate him. Drinking alone is never as good as drinking with company, which is why he decides to take it on himself to be generous. The selected victim gets an eyeballing from behind metal as he weaves his way around tables, but soon enough he slams two glasses on the wooden table, grinning widely at the other male.
“YO! Looked a little lonely. Drinkin’ alone ain’t any way to spend the night.” He slides one glass in his direction, leaning over a bit more to get a look at his face. As always, he comes on a little strong. “Whaddaya say, one on me?”

How and when he’d ended up in Sector five after being transported out of the woods is beyond him, but he’s not complaining about being brought back to the city. Aside from the strange black creatures that walked the streets ( they caused him little trouble due to his abilities being back in full throttle ) there wasn’t much to be seen. That is, until something flies smack into his face, knocking his hat from off of his head. “Eh? Who…” A hand rubs his forehead and he looks for the culprit, which floats above him. It seems to be a doll of sorts, it’s like nothing he’s ever seen.
Quick as ever, Avenger reaches up and grabs hold of it and holds tight. It wiggles and squirms in an attempt to get away, but there is no hope for it. “And what exactly could you be…” Edmond is bored and seeing as there’s no possible way he’d be able to figure out what this thing is, he opts for the easiest option. With enough force, he crushes it into pieces and the sound of a scream escapes it. How interesting, he thinks to himself only to look up and see not too far from him, a man who looks angry.
“Ah, was it yours?”
He won’t lie, he’s finding the cement beneath his feet to be far more comforting than sand and stones. After a long time of wandering underwater with no weapons in sight, his hands were grateful for the rest. Or at least they would have been, had he not been beset upon by ghosts. Monsters? Something like that. Either way, he’s never been so glad for the magic that thrums through his veins and through his dolls, both newly returned and ready for action.
Mowing them down is relatively easy, but Bickslow doesn’t intend to let his guard down: not when his cloak is sporting a missing chunk from some unwanted contact. He’d rather his face not be on the receiving end of those nasty claws. A flash of green signals the end of another one of the screeching things, a groan slipping from his lips as he turns to try and spot any others who want to crash his party. He’s joined by one, two, three, four--
Wait. Four?
He’s already turning, but not before an inhuman scream hits the air, shielded eyes locking onto the wood and dust that falls to the ground. Then they slink upwards, locking onto the face of the unbothered culprit, aggravation taking hold.
“Oi, you jerk! Whaddaya think you’re doin’ to my babies?!”
‘Jerk! Jerk!’ The four remaining sing, hovering carefully around his head as his teeth grit. Getting new vessels was no problem, but he had just gotten them back-- wasn’t taking them away in the first place enough? Now he’s just being bullied!
“Now he needs a new body already! Geez, can’t you give a guy a break? I’m not gonna go easy on ya for that!”

“Hello!”
A simple greeting. Not unusual in the slightest, most all conversations between strangers start with the same thing. Hello. And yet, right now, it couldn’t be less bizarre.
The girl herself sported the most ridiculous of hats, so big it was a wonder how it fit on her head, crowning a grin that stretched from ear to ear. However, perhaps it was the creature saddled between her thighs that floated so nonchalantly.
One might label it a kind of whale, but its body was so long and thin scientists would argue for centuries it was an eel.
Nevertheless there she floated upon it, gloved hand outstretched to the masked man below.
“You look dreadfully tired… Care for a ride?”
@figureeyes
Now, he’s seen a lot of weird stuff. It’s kind of a given, considering where he comes from. You’d think that at this point in his life, after dragons and Tenrou Island, not much else could surprise him. He’d like to think of himself as unshakeable.
Apparently not.
It’s not just the hat (although it is pretty outrageous). It’s the fact she seems to have saddled that--what did you even call that thing?-- creature so easily, and the second fact it doesn’t seem to be bothered at being ridden by a small, petite-looking woman.
“I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff, baby, but you’re kinda takin’ the cake. Hah!” The confusion turns to a face-splitting grin as he gladly reaches out to take the offered hand, not about to pass up some goodwill. “Watchin’ everything pass by from above doesn’t seem half bad. Hope ya know how to steer properly!”

He could understand that frown very well, after all he went in with the same hopes. There were a few more avenues left, some possibly yielding disappointment again… or the exit from this glorified fish tank. To the question whether he wouldn’t fall behind,, he only chuckled to wave the concern off.
“IF I COULDN’T I WOULDN’T HAVE MADE IT OUT ALIVE OF THAT TUNNEL I WARNED YOU OF! YOU SHOULDN’T JUDGE PEOPLE HERE BY THEIR APPEARANCE, I AM ACTUALLY QUITE AGILE.”
Though they had taken his weapons, most of his skills and the fact existed that their aquatic environment hampered him a lot, he retained at least his base-stats as servant. Unless they were talking ‘breaking the sonic barrier’, falling behind too far was a non-issue.
“I’VE EXPLORED THIS ONE AND THE TWO TUNNELS TO THE LEFT. THAT LEAVES THE ONES TO OUR RIGHT. HAVE YOU BEEN TO THESE ALREADY?”
Feet tap the sandy ground beneath, which seems to stir it slightly in the odd atmosphere. A bit swirls around his greaves whilst Bickslow’s arms cross, shielded eyes turning from his compatriot to the web of tunnels in the distance.
“Heh, I’ll take yer word for it. Wouldn’t be the first scary ol’ timer I’ve met.” Although, the other was a bit...smaller.
Well, regardless, any help was good, especially if he wasn’t stuck doing all the work. A mage’s hands could only do so much, especially if their magic wasn’t of the physical variety. He misses the chiming, echoing voices swirling around him already.
“Been to the one next to this, but not the furthest.” There’s only the slightest creak of metal as he jerks his head in the proper direction, smile widening. “Hey, y’never know, maybe we’ll strike gold, baby!”

► Their sudden loss of consciousness paired with waking elsewhere was a feeling that reminded Erza of how they were brought to Hive City. The city was definitely a locale within the world of the scientists though she hadn’t explored it herself. Regia. An underwater city. It was beautiful in its own way, but it was a world abandoned. It was crumbling. Beasts had been making it their layer. Safety wasn’t assured. Not that it was assured anywhere in the Hive.
The fish-like monsters that occupied the underwater paradise were numerous but fragile enough to be dispatched by the fist of both herself and her companion. She felt a little bad for Bickslow however, as not all mages were as accustomed to physical combat as she was. But even Erza was beginning to feel fatigued from fighting without a weapon.
“This is one of the city’s outer districts which means there should be a terminal we can use to get back to the inner city. I’m not sure where that is, but the center of this district seems to be the best place to look.” She paused for a moment as she turned to face Bickslow. “But that’s a ways away and we’re fairly fatigued. I think we should look for something to use as weapons before we proceed.”
He supposes he should feel relieved she’s spent a longer time traversing the place then he has, meaning she knows a hell of a lot more than him. Still...
“Just one? Just how big is this place? Whatta pain.” Bickslow rolls his shoulders with a grumble, flexing his hands once he’s finished. Seems this was just one big warning to maybe work on his physical abilities a bit more...just brute strength wouldn’t do it all the time, as this was clearly teaching him. Feeling useless felt less than desirable.
One glance at himself and then her, he knows she’s right. Even the great Titania wasn’t invincible, and seeing as how they were both clearly magic-less (albeit with Bickslow having the greater disadvantage), this didn’t look too great. If they got swarmed bare-handed, it’d be a problem.
“Just follow the crumbling water road, then. Wish it was gonna be as easy as it sounds.”
“Gotta be something ‘round here, if nobody’s picked through it yet.” The crumbling structures around them garner a long look, as if he’s searching for something within their walls. Shielded eyes move from one, to the other, before finally settling on one to their right. “Doesn’t look like there’s anything in that one, but better be careful, anyway. Rather not become anybody’s light snack while we’re trying to catch our breathes, right?”
He slips her a patented toothy grin for that one.

“EXCUSE ME! YES, YOU MY GOOD SIR! I’VE ALREADY BEEN THIS WAY. THAT TUNNEL IS BARRICADED.”
That was not a lie, the patrols had effectively cut out this underwater route back to the hive. Moriarty’s gaze shifted warily around and focused on the aforementioned tunnel, on the outlook for any random monsters or npcs. None followed him this far. Besides apparent and superficial concern towards this masked stranger, he had something else in mind. He was also quick to bring that up.
“I WAS ABOUT TO EXPLORE ANOTHER ONE. IT WOULD BE SAFER TO TRAVEL TOGETHER TOO, DON’T YOU THINK?”
His own security of course. Perhaps that man would make for a good bodyguard until they were out of here.
@figureeyes
Enough exploring of this life-sized watery prison had taught him that, unfortunately, this place hates him. The multiple tubes branching into the sea had seemed like a blessing until closer glances proved them to be deathtraps, and he was beginning to get really tired of having to punch things.
A scrutinous examination of yet another tunnel yielded somebody’s attention, and while the glance to the stranger is cautious, his words proceed to draw a very disappointed frown.
“Tch. Another one? Gimme a break already....” Bickslow steps back, hoping to avoid gaining the attention of whatever’s lurking there, and turns to face the other fully. Wasn’t expecting to see somebody that old-lookin’ down here, but can’t judge a book by it’s cover, right?
“Sounds like a plan t’me, whatever gets us outta here faster. Sure you can keep up, old man?”

► It wasn’t Erza’s first stay in Hive City, so the usual loops one might go through upon arriving such as learning the lay of the land were more or less thrown out the window. What she had opted to do instead was begin to clean up the old guild building that had been erected in the city several years earlier. It had gone unused since she’d last left, it seemed, and was in a severe need of fixing up before it could be reopened.
It needed to stand again. As a symbol of hope. And as a beacon to those of her world that might come to Hive City.
But she wasn’t expecting one to arrive at the guild’s front gate so soon. Let alone accompanied by the rattling of several tambourines.
“Bickslow… Just what is it you think you’re doing?” Even the mighty Erza had zero idea how to interpret what she was looking at. And listening too.
While disorienting, if he said this was a completely foreign scenario, he’d probably be wrong. Different enough that it was a pain, but not so outrageous as to not believe it-- that was it, right? Still, the interior of the guild hall would be far more welcome than whatever this was.
Speaking of, a while of skulking around and asking the few people who piqued his interest (who weren’t chased away by his...exuberance) finally bore fruit in the form of a familiar name. One which he didn’t hesitate in trekking across this godforsaken city to find, planting himself firmly in front of the building in question with a tongue-lolling grin on his face.
“Yo, Erza!” A couple steps forward as he takes a moment to admire her hard work, all 5 floating tambourines rattling in their excitement. “What do you mean ‘what am I doing‘? I came lookin’ for you, obviously! Ain’t that right, babies?”
Despite their current forms, they still give off their eery repetitions, floating closer to the woman in question while Bickslow crosses his arms.
“Y’know, you’re lookin’ pretty comfy there. Don’t tell me you’ve been at this all by your lonesome?”

Arguably, this could have gone better.
His knuckles are really beginning to ache here, for your information. Physical combat was never his forte despite how he might look, and as entertaining as it was seeing life from under the surface in the dreamlike scenery, he was beginning to really get tired of fish.
And fish-people, on that note.
“Ugh...my poor babies. First they get uncool containers, now they get taken away?!” He’s not afraid to grumble to himself as he bats at a bubble floating in the air, eyes sliding this way and that behind the metal shielding his eyes. He doesn’t lag behind his companion much-- he’s not stupid enough to put them at an even bigger disadvantage.
“Hey, ya know where we’re even going? You ask me, this bubble is too damn big....”
