Jurassic Park • director Steven Spielberg
Based on the novel by Michael Crichton, Jurassic Park is the tale of modern science, a rich man with big dreams, and the scientists that come into contact with that reality. When scientists uncover a way to clone dinosaurs, John Hammond builds the ultimate attraction - a theme park that brings these creatures to the public. However, when a group of scientists is invited to a test run of the park, things go impossibly wrong - and with dinosaurs ending up on the rampage and all of the humans running for their lives.
I do not remember my first theatrical film experience, but the first film that I clearly remember, that stayed with me in a way no other film did, was Jurassic Park. I remember sitting in the dark, being filled with awe as the first dinosaurs appeared - looking like they could literally step off the screen, my whole body feeling the power of the T-rex’s steps, and being frightened as hell as the raptors hunted Ellie & Muldoon. It gave me nightmare and thrilled me beyond belief at the same time.
Jurassic Park actually made me wonder if dinosaurs existed now. Despite the terror, it made me wish the actual Jurassic Park was a place I could go and walk among these creatures. And I realize now, THIS is the movie that made me realize the true and absolute power of the cinema.
With this film, Spielberg showed me that cinema could be escapist, thought provoking and an absolute finely crafted art piece that could stay with the audience long, long after the credits rolled and they walked out of the theater. That, my friends, is a gift I can never repay - I can only hope to pay it forward with films of my own.
Iconic.

Terminator 2 (1991; James Cameron)
Looked dead didn't I? Well, I wasn't. But it wasn't from a lack of tryin' I can tell you that. Actually Bill's last bullet put me in a coma. A coma I was to lie in for four years. When I woke up I went on what the movie advertisements refer to as a 'roaring rampage of revenge.' I roared. And I rampaged. And I got bloody satisfaction. I've killed a hell of a lot of people to get to this point. But I have only one more. The last one. The one I'm driving to right now. The only one left. And when I arrive at my destination...
I am gonna kill Bill.
