songbirdastrid:
almost instantly, the butterflies had calmed down and she was all-smiles – as per usual. “ ugh – let’s just say that i am SO glad i don’t have to leave my house for 3 days. ” she rolled her eyes, letting out a hard sigh.
she was grateful of cadence. she didn’t tell her often enough, the girl thought. looking at her best friend, astrid couldn’t help but smile. these feelings … they were normal, right? that was a constant worry in the back of astrid’s mind. of course, whenever the anxiety of her feelings would arise, she always knew how to calm herself down; looking at old photos.
“ how was yours, cad? ” asked astrid. “ any better? ”
astrid made her feel calmer, more at ease, but at the same time a bit anxious, like there was something in the pit of her stomach, teasing her. no one else had ever made her feel like that, and it had been happening since the girls were about thirteen.
astrid was her escape from everything. they didn’t judge each other, and they knew they could tell each other anything. sometimes cadence even had to remind herself that Astrid was real, because she was almost too good to be true.
“a shitshow, as per usual,” cady responded. “dad slept on the couch again. he was gone before mom and I woke up. we didn’t fight this morning, though.”
