Hello, I am Marcel. My friends call me Mace. #SpaceMace I am a passionate space nerd with a mission: I am determined to help create the first settlements on Moon and Mars by creating smart robots that explore the unknown in collaboration with humans. A crucial step to realize this is to learn about habitable places outside Earth. We need to find a safe harbour for us humans on other celestial bodies. By the way, did you know that there are caves and lava-tubes on the moon that are big enough to build habitats inside? We should explore those places in clever ways, to find us a place to built the next human settlement. Let’s bring light in the dark and explore beyond the unknown! Stepping into the footsteps of Buzz Aldrin I have been offered to attend the International Space University’s Space Studies Program 2017 (ISU SSP17). The second man who walked on the Moon, Buzz Aldrin, refers to ISU as “being the top of space education”. Aldrin is the Chancellor of ISU now – a true inspiration for exploration! Top education comes at a price: The program’s tuition fees are 18.000 Euros. A determined nerd I have ever sought to build a career in the space industry, as a kid I wanted to become an astronaut to experience the tranquillity on the moon. As a teenager, I won the first place in a competition at my school and was honoured to take part in a NASA summer school in Houston, Texas. Today, I am an engineer who recently graduated with an MSc in Photonics and Computer Vision. My passion is combining optics, robotics and scientific software engineering to create tailored space exploration and sensing solutions. ISU spaces up my curriculum further ISU allows me to expand my knowledge with lectures given by renowned space experts. Insights on technical, economical and legal aspects, which are usually reserved for people with many years of experience in the space industry, will support me with fulfilling my dream and mission. Support a hard working dreamer Thanks to the support of the European Space Agency, I was already able to secure two thirds of the tuition fees. But to really take the next step in my space journey, I need your help! Please, support me on my journey towards ISU, the Moon and Mars. I’m going to be grateful for any help big or small. To pay back for your generous support I’m going to publish regular insights about the social and scientific aspects of my journey and will share the impact of my scientific adventures that will follow this program. If you would like me to give a talk at your institute let me know – I am keen to share my adventures! Keep calm and support a space nerd

harry potter characters: luna lovegood - ginny weasley - neville longbottom
things about Hufflepuffs #520
Hufflepuffs, more than any other house, find horror movies really freaky and unsettling. Making it a group activity, in the daytime, with lots of snacks and a pile of snuggly blankets can make it tolerable.
Never make fun of someone’s passion because that’s the thing that saves them from the world.
