New blog as of November 1st

Dear followers, When I started this music blog a little over a year ago, I had no idea how important it would become for me. It just doesn't feel appropriate anymore to run it as a secondary blog - but, as you may know, Tumblr doesn't allow to simply change secondary blogs into primary ones and vice versa. Therefore, I decided to start a new one here. It's basically the same, so if you decide to follow it (which would be much appreciated), you won't have to get used to anything new ;) Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience caused!

Comett - My Reality Is Your Fiction

It was this great animated video for Once Upon A Time / The City of Lights that first made me aware of the French indie-pop duo Comett. Almost three years later, the debut album My Reality Is Your Fiction has been released via a successful crowd funding campaign. It's a collection of 12 melodic electro-pop songs, lyrically revolving around the character of Cosmo and his (lost) love.

Alexandre, one half and founder of Comett, kindly took the time to answer some questions: Congratulations on the release of your debut album – I feel tempted to add „finally“ because it took quite a while. What caused this delay? First of all, we both work in a company to pay our rent. Then, one of us got married and the other became a father. 3, we don’t live in the same city, and we do everything by ourselves (recording, production etc…). 4) we are never satisfied. That’s why it took a while to release this album. My Reality Is Your Fiction is a concept album – can you sum up the story in a few sentences? Hard, because you have many stories : Cosmo who tries to save his love (world) from a villain (Ladio). But is this city real? Or is it a fantasy of a wounded mind? Anyway, the story talks about love, modern world/ city, friendship, dream/nightmare, madness. Did you set out to make a concept album from the very beginning, or was it something that developed over time? Almost. The first lyrics weren’t very interesting. Thus, I decided to write a story and to base my lyrics on this story. What is the origin of your collaboration with Ozano who created the artwork for your album? Ozano and I used to work together. He was next to my office. One day I noticed his work and I decided to talk to him about my project. He was ok and we started to work together. Did you in turn get inspired by the artwork, or was the story/music finished when Ozano got involved? Actually, the whole world was in my mind, but we discussed many possibilities and he designed the 4 characters you see in the video clip (Cosmo, Halley, Ladio and Stella). Then, he designed the entire city as you can see on our website or inside the CD

Can we expect more videos to be released? Unfortunately no. But if we have enough money and Les Lapins de l’Espace have time to make it, why not. Anyway, for the next album, it will maybe not be the same universe, and maybe not a concept album. What other plans do you have? Playing live, and make a new record. Merci beaucoup, Alexandre!
