P-Valley (2020-) Season 2, episode 5
P-Valley, from day one, has given Black queer representation in just about every spectrum! From gay, to lesbian, to bisexual! There's non-binary representation! And in this latest episode (S2E4), they gave us two very intimate and beautiful moments/scenes from two Black femme women and two Black masculine men. I gotta emphasize that these two Black masculine men are tatted up and burly...representation from Black gay men on tv this way is very unexplored.
What was so beautiful about it was each scene showed us how much we need to be there for each other. In sisterhood and brotherhood. As Black women with other Black women and Black men with other Black men. And the tenderness and softness that was expressed through words and contact (touch) was done so, so well.
As a society valuing convenience over experience is why everything sucks today. Blockbuster was an EXPERIENCE. the movie theater was an EXPERIENCE. Music stores were an EXPERIENCE. Arcades were an EXPERIENCE. I don’t want to sit in my house forever!!!!! I don’t want everything streamed to my electronics!!!!! I want to sit in front of the big silver screen for 2 hours with a coke freeze and come out with my life changed!!!! I want to live and I don’t care the cost!!!!!!
RWBY going from being a ketchup drawing on a napkin in an IHOP and a small project Monty was working on alongside RvB, to an internationally known webseries that grew big enough to get an animated spinoff from one of the biggest names in the Japanese anime industry is something that's just so fucking cool
I never used to understand what “making connections” looked like but it turns out it’s standing at a party and saying “I’ve been thinking about getting into the film industry” and someone saying “Oh, Sarah works in the film industry” and Sarah yelling from accross the room “Did someone say my name?!?!?!”
You casually mention that you’ve been thinking about such and such and your professor overhears and is like “oh I know someone who works there. Do you want me to email them for you?” And you go “Sure.”
It’s the six layers of separation thing. Everyone is only so many layers away from everyone else. So if you stand in the correct rooms and say the correct things out loud once in a while eventually someone will say “Oh, I know a guy.”
And then eventually you turn into the guy that someone knows. I think. It’s hard to tell.
i am losing it over this panel
That’s the whole anime right there
