Cat Bios
Finnegan (Finn) is a rescued black shorthair tom born 11/10/2014, adopted 2/12/2015
11 years old
his black pelt has had flecks of white hairs through it his whole life
we're guessing he may have some Bombay or similar genes based on various similarities
indoor cat for his own safety but is sometimes allowed outside with a harness
very loving and well-behaved, though he's getting a bit of a cranky old man temperament; somewhat clingy and insistent on routine
suffered some minor head injuries when he was very young so he’s somewhat doofy and not exactly competent as a cat, he can be a little slow to process new things
still quite intelligent - knows lots of words and several commands (even a few more abstract concepts, surprisingly); knows how to open doors with lever handles but forgets that he knows, so usually he just shoves doors open with his head (he learned this when he was young and cannot be stopped)
small squeaky voice but generally doesn’t talk much unless he's yelling at Jazz; he's mad that Jazz is too big to boss around, they're more likely to tussle than cuddle but they're slowly improving
Jahzeel (Jazz) is a brown rosetted Bengal tom born 8/6/2020, adopted 11/13/2020
5 years old but just a big baby
youngest of a litter of four – he inherited his father’s traits of a round head, loud voice, and generally goofy temperament; he inherited his light coat and dark round spots from his mother
indoor cat who sometimes “goes for walks” on a leash, but actually has no idea what to do outside
very laid-back and floppy, likes to slide or fall off things on purpose; seems to struggle somewhat with spatial awareness (specifically object permanence and knowing how big he is / where all his limbs are)
loves Finn and gets very upset when they're separated; they're still more likely to tussle than cuddle, though they're slowly improving
a very loud talker
for some reason he suckles on his belly fur when he’s happy and sleepy (not enough to pull it out)
trying to teach him to use talking buttons, but he won't use them the normal way
Munchkin is a stray, probably part Maine Coon, probably born sometime between 2019-2020
probably 5-6 years old
vet said it seems like his growth was stunted, so he's small with a big head and paws; he was on his own for at least 5 years that we can figure out
very good at hunting unwanted critters out of the gardens
sweet temperament, slowly getting used to being indoors, very fluffy, quite a talker though he has a small voice like a big kitten
2025 we finally earned his trust enough for him to hang around more often; he's been indoors a lot during the winter
loves Finn, watches and copies what Finn does, they like to prowl or skitter around the house together when they get zoomies; Munchkin is really good and leaves Jahzeel alone, Jahzeel is taking a while to warm up to him
Grandparents named him Munchkin but he's got lots of nicknames like the others do; he thinks his name is Good Boy
for now he's mostly outdoor because that's what he's used to and insists on; we're slowly teaching him to be indoors, so hopefully eventually he'll be an indoor cat (maybe at grandparents' house)
Some older photos include Kloe (born 4/1/1998, passed away 8/6/2018), a black shorthair molly
a very smart and very sweet girl with a loud voice in a small body
had a solid black pelt with a small white star on her chest, until she got older and gained a lot of gray and white hairs; green eyes, later full of markings (probably cataracts)
outdoor cat for the first half of her life, then slowly learned how to be an indoor cat
an accomplished mouser who also loved the taste of bird; she was known to steal chicken from humans if she got the chance
didn't care much for the new kitten Finn (she was almost 17 by then)
died at 20 from old age; by then she had arthritis, some kind of dementia, and couldn’t see or hear much
