ââŚI guess?â Kaleb shrugged. He debated with himself for a moment in his head, trying to find the best option. Trusting Faina and joining her in her mission was a risky move, but so far, it seemed like no one else was smart enough to actually succeed in escaping. And those who had, ultimately failed as well.Â
âAlright. If you agree weâre in this together, weâre equal, and neither of us get left behind, Iâm in.â If this turned out to be the wrong decision, he would deal with it then, but right now he saw no harm in getting in yet another shot of freedom. âNow, tell me more about my part in this.â
A smile was painted in her face, a perfect one, almost a fake one. She even clapped her hands quickly in a childish yet joyful behavior because of the little victory she achieved!
âI wonât leave a precious comrade behind, only ashes will stay here.â The tone of her voice was fast, child-like and a ghost of a chirp could be heard. She would outstretch her right hand to him, but the accord wasnât firm enough yet. If he wants to hear the plans, he must earn it. âI wouldnât discuss it where everyone can hear, what about the rooftop? Itâs seems to be a nice place to have some serious business.â Rolling her shoulders, she stepped away while facing the sky, taking mental notes about how strong should be her jump to reach the rooftop of that building. The only wrong move he can do is to agree with her new idea, since high places are like home for birds. âFor now, influence and protection is your part.â

That moment when you didnât even finished your oc and wants to make another.
we-are-guiltless:
âI donât care what they are, they rely on demons to use their powers for them, and I can do it all myself.â He mumbled. âTechnicalities donât matter. At the end of the day, they are just stupid mortals, and I come from an ancient line of powerful witches and warlocks. From Halloweentown, and when our kind rightfully ruled the mortal realm.â He gestured between the two of them when he referred to âour kindâ, since the girl was also of supernatural origins.Â
âWhatever.â He rolled his eyes, furrowing his brows. âWell, yeah. All of us are innocent without a real crime. Thatâs kinda the idea. Those who havenât committed crimes, or at least, not serious ones are over there, and the ones who have are here.â What didnât she get about that? âReturning home, here? Why would we spend all this time bringing down the barrier and escaping, only to come right back?â Faina was getting on his last nerve, and Kaleb was having enough. âEnough with the games. Tell me what you want from me, and what you want to do together, or get out.â
All that magic talk was something the bird really wanted to avoid and ignore it was proving to be quite hard, even catching herself in some thoughts like âwhen he will finish it?â or âdid he finished this babbling about magic and I didnât noticed it?â she wasnât capable to avoid some parts. Her form was indeed calmer, but a little sad by her slouched shoulders.
âItâs a selfish desire, I know.â She spoke in clear dismay. âI know I can live outside and never be trapped again, the others... I was just going to use them as a passport, I donât have any reason to break the barrier and let everyone escape, almost no one is worthy enough.â Her skin turned pale again, that red flush indeed made her face look more angry than she was in reality and itâs disappearance confirmed her calmness. âBut, staying by my side would allow a freedom with some benefits. Donât you agree? I was really considering about not using you as a tool to be discarded since you are a clever person and, after that I saw today, a strong person too.â

we-are-guiltless:
âMagician? Iâm a warlock, birdie, not one of those Facilier kids and their voodoo crap.â He instantly corrected. How dare she bring a being as strong, powerful, and ancient as him down to the same level as measly parlor tricks.Â
âUnless you can give me some sort of plan or idea on what you want from me, I donât know what to tell you. I donât have time for your weird riddles.â Kaleb shook his head. âI know your dad is some kind of Phoenix and heâs made of lava or something, but other that I know nothing about him so no, I donât know what you mean.â
Itâs the second time he was able to startle her, something that mustnât happen once happened twice. This gonna be a wild ride, the blood that flushed to her forehead painting the pale skin into red was giving tips how herd he hit the red button. âI thought they are some kind of witch doctors.â She managed to say in calm tone, but the rest of her sentences came with a little sour taste:
âPhoenixes are awesome, I canât deny, but my father isnât one of them and I gladly ask you to donât repeat yourself.â A fake cough made itâs presence to clean her throat. âIâm saying that without a real crime, heâs innocent. But, you know how he would react if someone got near him, even being nothing more than a pile of ashes, so we canât use him...â A long pause was made before she could calm her voice enough to do that dreamy tone from before: âIâm saying that Iâm clean, I can be used!... Well, itâs a long plan, I canât go around telling the details to someone who havenât any interest in returning home and stuff.â
haley-deadflowers:
âYeah, you have no idea Faina,â she mumbled. âHope is the last thing left in Pamdoraâs box for a reason. Itâs pointless and because itâs still trapped in there, it never works.â
The bird rolled her eyes, almost saying something to cut that gloomy philosophy but she decided it would be a waste of her time and words. Instead, she tried to play along those lines: âA wildfire starts somewhere, the whole forest is reduced to ashes. And then a new forest is born on that same place when the spring arrives.â Raising her left hand, she lit a gentle fire in her fingertips only to extinguish it in five little clouds of smoke. âOne day, the wildfire will start again and the story will repeat itself in a endless cycle.â Lowering her hand, she said finally said: âI donât mind if you think that thereâs no way a wildfire can start again, because I know it will start.â
we-are-guiltless:
âOh, you caught the show just now, huh? Hope you enjoyed yourself.â He grumbled, though he grew confused at her response. She really thought he won? Kaleb wouldnât correct her, because it helped his bruised pride when he thought nothing would tonight.Â
âUmm, what do you mean? You want me⌠Do you want me to join your gang?â He asked. âI already got one, butâŚâ He hesitated. Kaleb was never one to let an opportunity pass him by if it meant a better position for himself. âWhatâs in it for me?â
Easy to impress, too naive to survive! Such big ego, what a fine toy. How funny would be to play with his ego? The bird didnât asked herself about it, this kind of game wasnât her field, physical pain was undoubtedly her preference when it comes to a little violence.
âI have none.â She said immediately. âAlliance suits better.â She started to scratch the back of her head, thinking about her previous plans and the new reality. âA bird canât live inside of a cage forever, I think the same is for the magicians. Birds without wings... They are.â She could have played with blunter words or vaguer ones, but that wouldât suffice. âI still have my wings, but I canât fly high enough all by myself, I need a support to get on the top of this island.â And then. she put her game on the table in a whisper: âMy father accomplished his goal, but this wasnât a crime... Can you understand?â
we-are-guiltless:
âBeat it!â Kaleb initially snapped to the girl at the door. Normally, a womanâs voice was always welcome and he would let them in without hesitation, but tonight was different. He was beaten down, humiliated, and not in the mood for any visitors. His father would not be pleased when he heard the news, and he wouldnât want to face any more disappointment and mockery than necessary.Â
Though, at the threats of burning his door down, he begrudgingly pulled himself to his feet. He would just need to tell this person to leave face to face, he supposed. âWhat do you want?â Kaleb frowned.Â
She almost hit the door again a mere second after that response, but she didnât, a little startled to think quickly or even to properly react. Well, at least the bird wonât have to burn anything. How lucky he was! Unluckily for the bird who was quite interested in testing her fire on that wood and inhale the precious smell it would burst from every crack. Well, maybe another day.
âYou were alone.â She said vaguely in a dreamy tone. âAnd won that fight all by yourself.â Hiding her face inside her red scarf in a impractical way to mask her delightful speech. âI saw you many times, but this was the first time I saw you prove your strength!â Anyone who could see her hopeless state could say she was more than happy, more on the side of a really high-happy. âI want this! I want this strength of yours!â Even being able to do even worse, inside that isle she was just weak as a bird with thick but fragile bones. Well, that would be enough to convince him to join her, not to let her join his gang.
haley-deadflowers:
âTrust me, seeing my father isnât a good thing,â she muttered. âAnd I donât enjoy staying here, I despise getting hopes up only to get them crushed.â And it wasnât so much her, but Hadie. She couldnât handle his face when his hopes depleted. âMy dad runs a prison of the dead, and because of that fact alone, Uncle Zeus thought throwing all us blue haired spawn of Persephone in here was more than justified, no matter how many hours ago we were born.â
âYou try, you fail.â She said almost cutting the otherâs last sentence. âBut the true failure is when you stop trying.â She felt tired by the way her shoulders dropped when she turned to face the other one more time. She was undoubtedly upset, the fire in her eyes was so visible and deadly orange that could be mistaken for little droplets of lava. âI wonât bother you about it again, I had no clue you are tired enough to give up.â Rolling her shoulders, she gave a little smile before saying something that wasnât so vague: âBy the way, nameâs Faina.â
