News of the destruction of their bridge spread quickly, as did the tale of it’s demise. “What business have you with the humans?” Forseti asked, though knowledge told him her business lied not with the humans themselves, for news of Loki’s journey to Midgard had too reached his ears.

"You know well Forseti that Midgard itself is not my purpose. I would go to Alfheim, Svartalfheim, and even into Helheim if that is to where he had fled." Sigyn was aware he knew of whom she spoke. The fact that Loki lived still and had gone to the realm of humans had spread as far and fast as news of bifrost has.

My character just accidentally said "I love you" to yours. How does yours react?

She no longer cared who observed them. She’d been locked up tight with her own hopeless infatuation for decades, lifetimes. So long she didn’t know how she’d bourne it. It was woth her patience, though she’d had more than enough of that now. Now she was ot just Loki’s Sigyn, but also Sigyn, beloved by Loki. Even the knowledge at the smug self satisfaction that her parents would derive from knowing best was not enough to dampen her spirits. Her half brothers would be annoyed to see her in such good spirits, on the other hand. There’s another happy thought to add to what was suddenly a vast collection of them.

Even through the veil of tears, Sigyn could see the resulting panic her sudden turn of emotion had brought on her prince. She was astounded he thought he’d need to apologize for saying all the things she wanted most to hear. “If that is what’s been on your mind you’d do better apologizing or not having spoken it sooner. I’m afraid I really must cry though, I can hardly help myself. They’re happy tears.”

Despite her declaration she did manage to stop, when laughter replaced the tears. She went readily to the hand that drew her closer, let him tilt her face upwards. Happiness had blossomed across it like a flower and she wore a pink flush in her cheeks that came from exhuberance with a touch of embaressment. Not that the latter in any way marred the former. She’d known his words could make and unmake her and here she was. Crystalline walls all crumbled to pieces and she refashioned.

Another laughed gave sound to her bliss, her lips curving upwards into an affectionate smile. “That silver tongue again. It will be the death of me.”

It was forward, but the need of it overcame the impropriety of the act. Sigyns arms went to his neck and she rose up onto the balls of her feet to give herself the extra height she needed to burst the bubble of space between their lips and kiss him.

Euphoric wasn’t even a term that could describe his emotional state as their lips connected. Meshed together like an assortment of flavours that complimented each other perfectly. Sugar and spice; chocolate and chilli. They were two odds to an end, fitting together perfectly like wood carven puzzle pieces.

Such forward acts confronted Loki with the heavy weight that his words carried. Oh how he could bear that weight, if this was his much tailored punishment then he’d commit the same crime repeatedly, heinously and insanely just to receive a quick taste of your sugary lips.

Though ultimately, everything must come to an end. As once Autumn delved into Spring their lips parted, leaving the dark haired prince utterly breathless at his loves forward thinking.

"How scandalous…" He breathed, unable to stop a soft smirk from parting his lips further in a symbol of his fondness for their previous encounter.

"I am your prey, Lady Sigyn… As the snake hunts the mouse you have undeniably caught me… I submit to you my love, for I have and forever will be your King… I am yours my lady…"

And so, just as he had instigated before, the dark haired mystery stepped forward, claiming his lady’s lips in another kiss, much more potent in the emotion of affection then the last.

"I was merely following your advisement. Was it not you, my love, who said a little scandal could go a long way," more laughter glowing in the eyes that searched his face. His words settled over her like a sunlight, warm and welcome.

He drew her in for a second kiss and Sigyn bloomed beneath his lips, pliant and yielding to the mouth that claimed hers. Kissing her prince is everything she never dared to imagine it would be, gentle and perfect. All her senses are him and only him, drawn so close that it was as if they occupied the same space. Her heart was brimful, all her love and happiness spilling over the top. Being encompassed in the sanctum of his arms was worth a hundred thousand scandals. Sigyn's hand fell from his shoulder to his chest, resting over his heartbeat. It throbs in a rhythm that matched her own.

When the kiss breaks again he feel breathless, draws air across lips that tingle still with sensation. She knew she was well and truly possessed. That she'd follow him even to the blackest corners of the universe and set the darkness ablaze if he wished her to. The fact that she'd ever fought against such all consuming feelings seemed suddenly absurd.

"We will surely be the nexus of gossip in Asgard now. Only imagine what will the Allmother think of me for my impropriety."

It was harsh, an act of cruelty on his part. Knowing that the Allfather wasn’t here to justify his actions wasn’t morally just. Yet Loki held strongly onto his faith that you would indefinitely support him in whatever view he had on his childhood. He knew that wasn’t right, to mentally assume that you would do that for him. He craved some kind of sign from you, a gesture of love and support. He’d professed his love in which he viewed as the ultimate gesture of love and support for his betrothed.

Another soft trickle of faint laughter fell through the princes lips as he listened to his betrothed speak of the events she recalled during his untimely absence. He made a mental note to thank The Lady Embla for not taking part in seemingly heated discussion about himself. Even now hearing that he was in fact the height of gossip made his thoughts incline to those of retirement to the library. A solitary place where he indeed found knowledge to be quite substantial in pleasing him.

"You? Well I must admit that I am flattered. I would have thought you would have been in bitter resentment towards me. After all we are all but acquaintances and yet we are soon to be married."

These words were honest, nothing originated from his sharp skill with his wisely named silver tongue. Besides it would not be wise to lie to the object of his affection, a marriage shouldn’t be built on lies. As sick as the thought sounded he wanted a happy marriage like his adoptive parents had. One with much love and adoration for their partners from both sides. Except he wouldn’t dare be so cruel as the Allfather could be to Frigga.

"I wouldn’t dare provoke him that far, my dearest. I for one want this engagement to go well. Not for our parents sake or because it is something that has to be fulfilled. I believe that if given the chance, you’d rival even Frigga’s fine ruling as the Queen. You are smart, beautiful and have the finest intentions, as previously said… I love you Sigyn. It is that love that gives me hope for us”

"I did not mean to suggest what the Allfather did was less than that, only that I wish the joys you knew did not have to be murdered by it. I regret that his callousness has robbed you of that." Sigyn could understand the inescapable sense of hiraeth. She felt it whenever she thought of Muspelheim, the realm of her mother that she had never known, but that ran in her blood and sparked in the flame within her.

When Loki strung her name together witht he word love again, Sigyn knew immediately she was, quite simply, done for. It had taken all her willpower to withstand the words the first time he said them. She could not hold out against it a second time. She felt like a floodgate had opened inside her, releasing the waters that she had drank from so liberally as a child before daming up when she became a young woman and understood that the reality was that the chances of her prince ever needing her as she did him were near to impossible. Buy here he was, like a miracle.

"I may have been a mere aquaintance to, but you have never been such to me. I have known of you for a long time. You scarcely knew me and yet I was Loki’s Sigyn. I never dared to dream you’d speak of love to me, I fear I dream now. "

Sigyn’s hopes for the future had never been so abstract. Always they had been very focused, extremely clear. She had never speculated on the type of marriage she wanted, since she’d accept any union so long as it was to him.

She took his head and pressed his palm to her cheek. Her eyes closed against the tears that pricked her eyes and in the darkness behind her lids she could feel more vividly his closeness. And she no longer cared about the risk that this might be no more than deception, because even if it turned out to be a lie it was such a beautiful lie. The possibility that she might truly have is heart is far more than she can resist. So Sigyn lets it’s all go. She loses complete complete control of her reservations and decides on faith.

"My love and all else I am has and always will be yours, Loki. Even if hope ever fails, that will not change." She opened her eyes and the world before her was blurred by the tears that had clustered there. Sigyn released her hold on his hand to swipe at them. "You’ve made a complete mess of me."

Letting his body fall prey to the malevolent birds of his mind, Loki stopped. He’d said them again, preying that the words were strong enough to break down any crystalline walls you’d placed around yourself in his presence. He wouldn’t dare to speak his mind here, not so out in the open. The eyes and ears of Asgard had fallen on them, anticipating and awaiting for any sign of awakening hatred in their ‘perfect’ engagement.

The asgardian prince had truly meant the words that had fallen from his pale lips. He truly meant every syllable as it brushed over his tongue. Dulling its use and rendering it useless for the indefinite time being. Time with his betrothed was always cut short, parents needing their child or a Realm in trouble in which Thor always requested his aid. Things made him leave you, people made him leave you… Never again, love came first… You came first.

"Shall I pinch you… For if this is a dream, for both of us… I don’t want to wake. Yet even if I did, I’d find you… I’d find you just to mimic nightingales song and say those words again… For no lies weave their way through such words of purity. They are honest My Lady… I Love You”

If a look of horror overcame his face at the sight of your tears then you didn’t see it. He’d made his maiden cry… He’d made you sad? Were you sad that he professed his love again? Was this a message meant for him yet represented in the most diabolic way… If demons existed then they existed to torment the prince. For the sight he was beholding was one that he would never wish to behold again, it was nightmarish.

"My love… Please don’t cry, I apologise if I have wronged you by speaking my mind… It was out of turn.."

Curiosity overcame the prince as he took a step closer, extending his thumb and tracking it over your soft cheek, his other hand mimicking the one already positioned on warm flesh. “My love…” Breaths rushing out of his lips as he tilted your face upwards, angling it towards him as if the angle itself was enough to discontinue your flow of tears. As if your words amused him a choked laugh left the males lips as he stepped closer again.

Trailing a hand down the soft curve of your jawline he left it under your chin, keeping your head elevated. The other hand, now free of your grasp pressed itself onto your back, bringing them closer again.

Sigyn lifted one eyebrow in response to his initial declaration, obviously drawing the same conclusion that his mention of false professions was a reference to his earlier one. Odd that that didn’t sting. Probably because she had not believed it from the first. Then he had to go and back peddle so quickly. She had always considered herself to be at a disadvantage, since she had all her life been privy to their parents’ plans to match them together, while he’d come far more recently to the news. She’d known everything about him before she’d been so much as a passing thought of his. Sigyn had called him Loki a hundred thousand times in her head, before he’d invited her to do so aloud.

“The flustering is a side effect of keeping up with you, I suppose.” And her constant effort to puzzle out the things he said. How much of it she should take to heart and how much it would be detrimental to. His words were like a chisel upon marble. They could make and unmake her. And he wielded them just so deftly.

He stepped away and he was no longer in every inhale she took. In fact now she could breath properly again. She never thought breathing would be so regrettable. Her fingers readjusted a hair ornament Loki’s knuckles had tipped out of alignment when he’d touched her face.

News of the various reckless things that Loki had done had trickled back to her fairly regularly and each tidbit of gossip rankled. So much that once she’d accidentally set the garden shrubbery alight, which had invited her mother’s wrath.

“Which is it that would fuel their hopes? The riding or the catching me should I fall?”

"Would both not suffice? Either way I’d be seen with you and that, My Lady, would do us both positive justice. God knows the current gossip surrounding our engagement. Forced or not I would happily take your hand, Lady Sigyn"

Blithe words for a darkly depicted God. Loki was never one to dwell on the rumours that circulated so currently around the nine realms regarding himself. Nor was he one to really take them into consideration when making rash decisions. Though now he had to think about someone other than himself and how his choices would affect them… He’d chosen to be more alert.

Many things in the young prince’s life had been false thus far. His true lineage, the love that came from his father (if he could even call it that) and many other mindless portions of information he’d thrown to the hounds. Yet each one of those lies had created dozens of rumours, he begged silently that you didn’t heed them and make judgement of him so freely based on those.

"My Lady, would you walk with me?" He asked, holding out his arm for her to take if she did so desire. "I have been curious as to know what it is you thought of me. Not from what your parents have told you- we both know they would have highlighted the important things- but from what you’ve heard here… Perhaps from my brother or my family. I wouldn’t want you to think falsely of me at all."

Sigyn didn’t have to know to guess. Not that any rumor bandied around could be worse than the months when she’d worried it might be called off entirely. And then what would she have been? Besides furious. Furious enough to sink islands. Sigyn would not have just had a cow, she’d have had a dragon.

The arm he offered her was stared at for a long moment, before she tentatively accepted the invitation, taking hold of the proffered limb. It was not the invitation to walk that made her pause, it was the invitation to voice her opinion of him. She had not thought he would care what she thought of him. She had not though he had much concern for what anyone thought of him. He spoke as if he worried about her bad opinion and now she had to decide just how much she was prepared to offer up on the off chance that the patron of lies was offering her what she had already resigned herself to believing she’d never get, truth.

“We have met before,” Sigyn said haltingly. “once, a long time ago. I imagine you do not remember it. My hair was dark when I was younger and I was admittedly unkempt at the time.” The memory of her first meeting with the boy she’d been told she was to marry was the brightest in her mind, like the pearl inside an oyster. “My half brothers were…taking objection to me. You ran them off with illusions.”

Sigyn did not think she could explain to anyone how much the sharing of that cost her, even if she tried. She did not, obviously. Instead she fanned a free hand through the air.

“As I said it was a long time ago.” Though not so long that she did not carry it with her constantly. “I have heard you are often at odds with the Allfather and at time with your brother as well. They have fashioned dozens of names for you. Silvertongue. Deceiver. Liesmith. And I have seen enough of you from afar to know they are not entirely unfair to call you so. I have heard you are dangerous and I agree. I’ve heard you do love a mess and that I believe. I’ve heard you have a dark heart,” she paused, glancing out across the immaculately manicured gardens, “that I know to be untrue.”

Feeling a differed weight wrap around his arm caused the prince to smile, his free hand tentatively covering hers as he embarked on his leisurely stroll with his betrothed. It was nice, being around someone who didn’t outrightly hate him or think lowly of him. Then again he didn’t know what you thought of him, the outcome of his question was now starting to look very bleak.

Not that the names bothered him yet it was the very feeling that behind his turned back others referred to him unjustly. Really, behind all the lies and illusions he’d weaved he was just a prince, scared of everything that could pose him as a threat. He had no clue of who he was really, maybe that was what drove him to act so sarcastically all the time.

"I admittedly don’t remember that encounter but I wish now that I did. I guess I’ve subconsciously chosen to do away with the memories of my childhood… They are, after all, a lie."

Upon finding out he wasn’t Odinson but Laufeyson, the dark haired prince had indeed cast away every living memory he had of his childhood and lived in bitter resentment to the Allfather. Wouldn’t any child do the same? After all, fragments of his childhood did return to him in his sleep, he seemed happier then than he was now. Maybe that was another reason to do away with those memories. A frost giant didn’t deserve to feel happiness. Yet around you he let that thought shatter and submerged himself in a golden bath of happiness.

"My my… Asgard does have so much to say about its prince… You are free to think what you will of me. As I am free to think what I will of you– mind you it is nothing but lovely. It is true that the Allfather and myself do not see eye to eye, as does my brother and I on occasions. My silver tongue has become quite infamous in the Nine Realms, in a way… I must use it… Mainly as a defence mechanism. Just between you an me I find myself quite insecure when insulted”

Unlike Asgard’s prince, Sigyn did not think she didn’t deserve happiness, but she was afraid to believe in the joy that was being offered to her, because it would hurt so very much if it dissapeared in her hands.

What did surprise her was the hear that he had renounced all of his childhood memories. It seemed to her so drastic. “Does one lie spoil everything so completely?” She said it, even though she knew that yes it could. Wasn’t that was she herself was afraid of, why she was unwilling to accept his declaration of love at face value? Because it could be that sort of lie that probably seemed small to anyone else but would be so big to her, big enough to destroy her world.

"Your activities were the height of gossip about infamy during the times when you were away. The Lady Embla owes you her thanks as everyone was far too busy discussing you to ruminate on her intoxicated revelry during the winter festival." She let a moment of levity invade the sober exchange. "And as for me…I think much of you." Sigyn didn’t clarify whether she she meant much in terms of frequency or in terms esteem. Largely because both interpretations were truth. She wasn’t blind to his flaws, indeed they frustrated her to no end at times. But she could find nothing in him that she did not wish to claim as hers. Or be claimed by. "I enjoy your silver tongue when it is being civil and I like that you are clever in ways others could not imagine being."
