Atonement

Sometimes you see things are getting worse and worse even though you’re trying to fix them up. In my case this is a very common phenomenon. Anyway, the bad part is you can never take back your attempts. The movie, Atonement has depicted this situation profoundly. Briony, a 13-year old girl  falsely accuses her sister's lover, Robbie, of a crime, after she catches them in a compromising position. Later on, when she understands what she has done, she started  regretting and carrying the burden of guilt. Briony liked imagining Robbie and her sister’s happy ending and fixing up everything. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible in the end. One more thing I want to add apart from this story is, Saoirse Ronan is undoubtedly one of the the most beautiful and talented actresses.

The Danish  Girl

I would never know what actually sexual dysphoria is if I didn't watch The Danish girl. This movie depicted the sufferings of a dysphoric person who never stopped pursuing his true identity. I want to clear some concepts as people often can't distinguish between sexual dysphoria and homosexuality. First of all, sexual dysphoria can be psychological disorder despite one can help himself from having it. Homosexuality, on the other hand, is not a disorder. It's a choice. Sexual dysphoric or transsexual person thinks he/she doesn't belong to the body or to the sex that he genetically has. So a male thinks himself as a female and then he can choose to be homosexual or heterosexual.

End of the f***ing world

Teenage love story but not the usual one.  I think  it tried to portray difficulties and challenges that adolescents mostly face and how they overcome these problems after they learn to take  responsibilities and understand the concept that every step of life is important. Okay now let's come to point. 

Two teenagers Alyssa and James. Both had past traumas that made them sociopaths. Jame's mother committed suicide in front of him when he was a kid.  From that time he became lunatic and started hating his father for his being chilled. Alyssa's mother, on the other side, got separated from her biological father and then married a jerk with whom she had twins. Her step father sometimes abused her but her mother never believed and always stayed busy with her new babies.  Basically both of them had hatred and went through lots of traumatic events. They had something in common at least. One-day Alyssa proposed James for being her boyfriend. James agreed but intended to kill her. However, they eventually fell in love with each other but before realizing it, a big threat came before them. James killed a man who tried to rape Alyssa. The story goes so far and in the end they realized the world is not just a thing that you see, it has many unrevealed secrets. This movie is indeed a poetry. In the summer of 1983, 17-year-old Elio Perlman. while spending the days with his family at their 17th-century villa in Lombardy, Italy met Oliver, a handsome doctoral student who's working as an intern for Elio's father. Elio and Oliver eventually discovered the heady beauty of awakening desire over the course of a summer that had alter their lives forever.

Cell division  Part 3

Nucleus is starting to surround the chromosomes on both sides. The full process of mitosis cell division is known as karyokinesis. Now remember cytoplasm? It surrounds only one nucleus. So, after mitosis stages, when there are two nucleus, it also has to separate into two. The process cytokinesis is responsible for the final septation into two cells by splitting the cytoplasm.  

There are some human cells that don't have 46 chromosomes. Human sperm cells and egg cells which are also known as gametes have 23 chromosomes when a sperm cell and an egg cell come together that makes 46 chromosomes. That will allow a newly formed fertilized egg to develop into a human. Meiosis is a reduction division because you have a starting cell that has 46 chromosomes and your ending cells-the sperm and egg cell have only 23 chromosomes. Just like mitosis, interphase occurs before meiosis takes place. In meiosis, similar stages occur but they occur twice. First occurrence can be stated as meiosis 1  and the second one can be called meiosis 2. 

Prophase 1 is where the chromosomes are going to condense and thicken and they're going to line up with their homologous pairs. In meiosis an amazing process occurs called crossing over. The original and duplicated chromosome (as they're united with centromere)  pairs with their homologous pairs which is called crossing over. This is how 4 chromatids make a single pair.  then like mitosis in metaphase stage chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell but this time there are 2 pairs of chromosomes together in every line. Similarly in anaphase these homologous pairs are Carried away and in telophase they're divided into two cells including cytoplasm. After completing meiosis 1, there are 2 cells and each cell has 23 chromosomes but 46 chromatids as as the pairs have separated.Then, just like the mitosis process, In meiosis 2, these two cells containing 23 chromosomes, again divide into 2 cells. Each of the last two cells contain 23 chromosomes but each chromosome is of a single chromatid in other word, each cell consists of 23 chromatids.

Cell division Part 2

Now let's talk about mitosis cell division. Mitosis cell division is different from meiosis because it is not the process that produces sperm or egg cells but it works for the human body’s growth, repairing, and healing part of skins that are being cutted off. It makes identical cells which carry the same number and types of chromosomes that the original cell has. Before mitosis starts, the cell takes some time to grow, replicates DNA as in duplicates chromosomes and carries out its daily life functions. This time is called interphase. There's centromere which is part of chromosomes where sister chromatids are held together. Usually we count chromosomes by their centromeres and with a single centromere we call it a chromosome. That's why when the 46 chromosomes duplicate but attached by their pairs' centromere, we still say there are 46 chromosomes where it went from 46 to 92 chromatids. Anyway now we can get right into the steps of the mitosis process. The process is done by 5 steps. Prophase, metaphase, Anaphase and telophase.  

The very first step is prophase. The nucleolus is gone, the nucleus is still there and it's going to go away later on but this is a stage where it's actually there. The chromosomes are visible, in fact what we say they're condensing which means they're thickening and visible. The next stage is metaphase. In this stage the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell. The nucleus has been disassembled, it's no longer there's so we've got the chromosomes in the middle waiting there. Next, the anaphase starts. In anaphase, the chromosomes move away, they're moving to opposite sides of the cell, so they are moving towards the poles of the cells as in sister chromatids separated. Now one thing to point out, these chromosomes are not moving by themselves, they actually have something called spindles. These spindles are fibers that help move the chromosomes to the ends. Kind of helps them move along.The last stage of mitosis is telophase. In telophase, the chromosomes are actually at the complete opposite ends and new nuclei are forming on each side to make two new cells.

Cell division  Part 1 

Maybe this post will seem boring as it’s a part of biology that reminds you of your typical studies and so on. Well, I’m talking like this cause the same thing had happened to me until I found it interesting. Now let’s go to the point. This topic is about cell division in where I’m going to describe "a little" about it in case of humans & animals. I’ll try to provide the basic concepts rather than going too deep and making things complicated. 

Before going to cell division we should at least know that a cell consists of cytoplasm and nucleus. If you think of a broken egg, then the middle yellow circle would be the nucleus and white part you can imagine as the cytoplasm. Like the broken egg, each cell includes only one nucleus and in the nucleus there’re nucleolus, nuclear pore, nuclear membranes, chromosomes that is made of chromatin (DNA, RNA & protein), etc. In human body, there're 46 chromosomes or 23 homologous pairs of chromosomes. Homologous chromosomes are about the same size and contain the same types of genes. One more thing you should know before starting, which is, the plural form of nucleus is nuclei not nucleuses or something. We all know that cell divisions can occur in 3 ways. One is amitosis which can only be found in the unicellular organisms like bacteria, yeast, fungus, ameoba etc. In the process of amitosis cell division, nucleus at first forms into a dumble. Then cytoplasm carries two sides of the dumbbell and directly divides into two daughter cells. These cells are similar to each other.

Johan Leibert (Monster)

This post is about one of my most favorite antagonist in the anime world. Usually it looks bizarre when you like the villain more than the protagonist of the same play. Johan has some unique attributes that caught my attention. However, in the end I didn't feel the same as before but still he deserves to be called the smartest and the most charming antagonist. Now, Let's start the intro again. Johan Liebert is the main antagonist and a mysterious character, in the series of famous manga “Monster” (author: Naoki Urasawa ). In 1986 a Leibert couple from East German adopted twins and named them Johan and Anna. The story began when Johan was once found shot in head Along with his Leibert parents. The couple died but a Japanese doctor, Kenzo Tenma saved Johan's life. After 9 years of the incident, Dr. Tenma once again met Johan and realized he saved a serial killer. Tenma started regretting saving Johan's life so he decided to stop him even if it costs his life. The whole story focused on the mystery of Johan's past. What made him who he was? Was there something else hiding behind this mask of a monster?

Annarasumanara 

Annarasumanara is a manhwa series where a teenage girl, Ah-ee yoon loves magic in her childhood but for some reasons,  she becomes as realistic as possible. Yoon's parents got divorce and abandoned their daughters. So, yoon and her little sister had to lead a very hard and poor life. Meanwhile, a magician appeared in the town where Yoon lived. Magician used to live in the tent of an old park where Yoon had charming memories with her mother. Anyway, magician tried to take back Yoon's believe in magic and helped her a lot to earn her way of living.  

To be honest till these chapters it was kind of boring to me cause in my sense it was going to last as a typical ups and downs story. But it turned out really deep when I found a different meaning of the series. Magician claimed himself as a true magician but in reality he was the same tricky as the others. Then what made him a true magician? 

The answer is, he could free himself from the ritual of being "prosperous". Adults always tell children what to do in every step of their life to become successful. And when one of them fails to make it, he gets blamed for everything. Kids aren’t even allowed to know what they want to do in their life let alone accomplishing it. They don't get the moment for enjoying their childhood while adults forget their responsibilities and do whatever they want. Due to this magician never wanted to be an adult. He came out from being an irresponsible adult and got the joy of his life which he  termed as real magic. Ah-ee yoon, then, learnt the real magic to live her life from a true magician.

Chernobyl  Part 2

Engineer Antony Dyatlov, Plant Director Bryukhanov, and Chief Engineer Fomin planned for the 4th safety test for their personal motive. Due to the matter Antony Dyatlov broke every of their rules and gave controlling responsibility to an engineer who was only 25 years old and 4 months experienced. Eventually Akimov (another engineer) activated an emergency shutdown that made graphite in the rod accelerate the power to at least ten times the reactor's limit before it exploded. That’s how shutdown button worked as a detonator. However, none of them were aware of the design flaw in the control rods of RBMK.    After the exploration, Valery Legasov, chief of the commission and Boris Shchebina  investigated the whole reason behind the Chernobyl incident and led to save the environment, lives and future generations with the help of thousands of scientists and a million people. Many lives sacrificed to save the world and many of them sacrificed their health. Unfortunately after revealing  the suppressed information about the Leningrad plant, Legasov was sentenced to punishment. He was forbidden to speak to anyone about Chernobyl, received no credit for his role in containing the disaster, and could never work again. 2 years after the incident, Legasov attempted suicide. The whole drama was dedicated to those who suffered and sacrifice. It showed much more than usual expectation.

Part 1

Normally when I hear of a series about  bombing or tragic incident, the first thing that comes to our mind is, in the end it's going to exaggerate the whole thing and most of them are going to be fake. This stereotype often makes me reluctant to watch history based series/movies and makes things dull. Anyway I made this huge introduction because I was about to watch Chernobyl last year but my uninterest and procrastination brought me here. 

Chernobyl is a historical drama where we see the tragic moment of Chernobyl in 1986. The whole series is about an exploration of a nuclear power plant, Pripyat being a ghost city and all. But in  question of what made it different, I'll have to write an essay.  The Chernobyl disaster was caused by a nuclear accident that occurred on 26 April 1986, at the No. 4 reactor in the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, near the city of pripryt. It was caused by one of only two nuclear energy accidents rated at seven—the maximum severity—on the INES. The accident started during a safety test on an RBMK-type nuclear reacto, which was commonly used throughout the Soviet Union. The test was a simulation of an electrical power outage to aid the development of a safety procedure for maintaining reactor cooling water circulation until the back-up electrical generators could provide power. This gap was about one minute and had been identified as a potential safety problem that could cause the nuclear reactor core to overheat. It was hoped to prove that the residual rotational energy in a turbine generator could provide enough power to cover the gap. Three such tests had been conducted since 1982, but they had failed to provide a solution. On this fourth attempt, an unexpected 10-hour delay meant that an unprepared operating shift was on duty.

From the time I started watching anime, I've always loved ghiblies. Maybe you'll say I'm into slice of life or I like fantasies. I'm not completely denying it but in my case the reason behind my likings mostly focuses on the magical world and the fragrance of nature that I barely find in other animes. Again If anyone asks me why do I love ghiblies I'll always say they're aesthetic, do I need more reasons?
