Clark kitchen sinks celebrate 75 years in the heart of the home.
Introducing Wren! We are back home and here she is 8 days old. A lot of people ask if it is a big adjustment. Well it is, but at the same time it is like she was always here, we just didn't know it. I wouldn't say that we are trying to find a routine. More like a rhythm - getting to know what to look out for, how to respond, what to encourage. I didn't read advice about pregnancy, but I am reading now so that I can try to be one step ahead some of the time. All the staff at St John of God we're AMAZING...can't thank them enough.
5 things you didn't know about being pregnant
1. There’s lots of wasted time - getting dressed in the morning, trying to remember stuff like your sister’s middle name, getting in and out of things like chairs, and basically moving.
2. Your friends’/family’s personalities become amplified - those that are good are very very good/loving/caring/gifts from above. Those that are bad are FRICKEN CRAZY, like on red cordial, red bull and amphetamines at the same time crazy. You might be surprised about who falls on which side of the fence.
3. Everyone will judge you - in fairness they already did, it just seems like they have a license now to share their judgement. The only way to stop this is to stop judging others yourself and to nicely call out people who make you feel bad about your choices.
4. Your body will do what the hell it wants - and your experience will be different to others. Be healthy, indulge a little, and know that at some point you will regain control over some parts of your body…eventually.
5. Everyone’s pregnancy journey is unique - seek expert advice, read information judiciously and find the right path for you. There are many ways to get there with the same outcome.
I've never been one to take selfies and numb selfies seem even harder. I am 31+5 here and it is the first time I have done my hair in four months so I thought it as good a day as any to take a pic. I am still measuring about the same circumference but the vertical measurement is growing with her.
Day 24. This is a childhood present from my grandparents. The jade ring represents money and is to give me good fortune in the money stakes.
Day 23. I bought this 10 years ago while on my honeymoon in Hong Kong. It was at the ladies market and they had a whole wall of different colours and stones.
Day 22. I bought this in New York about a year ago. I think it was from Columbus Circle shopping centre where I also picked up some cast iron cookware that I managed to take around the world. I am pretty good at packing a suit case.
Day 21. I bought this about 8 years ago at an antiques and vintage fair. It doesn’t have any markings on it so I have no idea what it is made of. I just liked the retro feel of it.
Day 20. I’m pretty sure I got the KW pendant free with a magazine. The gold ring though was one of the first things I bought myself when I started earning money and had some disposable income. A present to my younger self that I was on the right path! You have to reward yourself every now and again.
Day 19. I bought these in St Thomas on the same cruise that I bought the sparkly ring. They were $15 so I bought three strands. These have been doubled up.
Day 18. I bought this in Miami at the beginning of the year. I have seen it on others a few times so I am sure that it is widely available. Peter likes to arrange it into different shapes when I leave it laying around.
Day 17. My father in law bought me this while on holiday in Europe. I have to admit that I can’t remember which city he said he got it in, but it is a very sweet locket with pearls and a red gem.
Day 16. I bought this ring years ago just from a local department store. I’ve since seen a matching necklace on others. I prefer having interesting stuff that I will wear than too many expensive things that will sit in a drawer and be worn every 10 years.
Day 15. Feeling a bit rock star today. I bought this in the same vintage shop I bought the toadstool ring. There aren’t any markings on it so I have no idea who made it but it looks relatively modern. I really like brass in jewellery. It also occurs to me that I have a few things that feature wings or birds. This might explain some of the baby names that are on my short list.
Day 14. I am working from home today but that is no excuse. Here is Hello Kitty to brighten your day! I’m pretty sure I got here free when I bought some cosmetics :)
Day 13. This broach is one of the few things I have bought when not travelling. It is quite delicate plastic. I also have a white feather but someone always tells me I should have volunteered for WWI whenever I wear it. I don’t wear it as a symbol of pacifism or peace, sometimes a feather is just a feather.
Day 12. Peter bought this for me when we were in Bali. I was relaxing by the pool and he was out shopping. Or I might have been hung over, which is probably more likely. After building up my wardrobe for the past 10 years I don’t have much of a need to buy stuff in my own city. Hence most of the stuff I now have is bought on trips where shopping seem so much more exotic!
