First Generation Yggdrans

Willkommen to Yggdra, a young region north of Kalos. This is a multi-muse blog dedicated to a few first generation of Yggdran kids from the Wurzeln, Yawa, and Ochita families. OC-friendly, Pokemon-verse only, all these kids are UNDER 18 in their main-verse.

Chiyo excitedly ran up to Manami with an envelope in her hand, "Maaaanami!" She thrust the invitation into her hands, "Here! Aura and I are having a late birthday party in Alola, and I wanted to invite you!"

“Oh hey-”

Manami stopped, caught off guard by the sudden envelope in her hands. She hadn’t even gotten a chance to open it when Chi explained what it was. Her eyes lit up at the prospect, “A birthday party in Alola? You really live a charmed life, don’t you? How could I ever say no to this sort of invitation? I’ll have to get a new swimsuit, though.”

Happy Valentines Day, Manami!

Manami couldn’t help but laugh, this was awful.

“You mean, on a date or a with a sniper rifle?”

Raina smiled and gave the girl’s hand a gentle squeeze, “You’re never really as alone as you think you are Nami. Trust me on that one.”

She lead the younger woman out onto the dance floor, “So ya know, if ya ever need to talk I’ve been told I’m a decent enough listener.”

“I think I would like that,” she replied softly, “I haven’t really given myself a chance to really think about how I feel and all that. I’m scared to talk to my parents and, because of not talking to the people I’m closest to... I had an incident with one of my friends.”

“I don’t think we’ve spoken since then.”

Rai loves the holidays but she’s glad they’re over. Gives her more free time in her schedule to actually see people and patients. Not to mention maybe some personal time.

“Auntie!” It’s Kristal! She’s cradling her Egg in her arms, “I think our Eggs are going to hatch soon, so I wanted to come by and see if you had anything good for newborn Pokemon. I wanna make ‘newborn kits’ for me and my sisters!”

“I actually do sell already prepared kits if you like? You could also take a look at them and make one for yourself too. I’d suggest you at least get a couple of the bath bags and probably some of the herbal food mixes for sensitive stomachs.”

“That sounds like a way better idea than making my own!” Kristal laughed, “Maybe I’ll make my own for my next Egg. Lemme see the kits!”

Manami seemed to malfunction upon hearing that. Her hand hovered in the air, having stalled out on its way towards Raina’s.

“Y…you’re…?”

“I’m what?” Raina asked, head cocked to the side, “Terribly uninterested in men? I have to admit I’m not used to people not knowing already.”

She chuckled, “Is it really that big a shock to you?”

“It... it is...” Manami admitted, her hand finally resting in Raina’s. A blush grew on her soft cheeks as she looked up at the older woman sheepishly.

“I thought, and I know this is going to sound crazy, but I genuinely thought I was alone here in Yggdra.”

Kristal set her backpack down and opened the top flap. She pulled an Egg from the bag, wrapped snugly inside a two-tone green hand knitted blanket. It seemed to shake a little as she cradled it to her chest.

“This is Juniper, they’ll be hatching soon,” Kristal explained, “My mother brought this Egg with two others for me and my sisters. She travels all over the world, so I have no idea what will hatch!”

“Whoa! An Egg? I’ve never seen a Pokemon Egg before!“ Ari pipped, “What’s it gunna hatch into?“ 

Kit peaked over Ari’s shoulder at the Egg, “Oi voi?”

The smile that stretched across her face was one of immense pride, "I don't know! My mom brought me and my sisters each an Egg from her work trips. She says it should be a Grass-Type, though."

She held it out towards Ari, "Would you like to hold it?"

“I took so many pictures at the ball!” Kristal squealed, “All my classmates are always so jealous when they see my pics of the castle!”

“They’re also jealous that my mom brought me and my sisters Eggs to raise! Gou is a natural, of course. She made these cute blankets we have them in, it keeps them warm and cushioned where ever we put them. Luna is so cute with her Egg, too, I maybe took too many pictures of her too, hehe.”

“And Auntie Rai said that the Eggs are looking healthy and on track! We should be seeing them hatch within a couple of weeks!”

“I didn’t know you had professional ideas besides being a trainer,” Manami said, waving down to some of the other folks standing around the courtyard, “When did this come along? Does it involve inheriting your dad’s place? Or following in your mom’s steps?”

“Battling is more of Ryu’s forte. It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just not for me.” Tapping his finger against his cheek, Ryu would shake his head. “I would say it’s a bit similar to dad’s. Except more with Water Type Pokemon…I hope someday I can open an Aquarium here in this region with Uncle Shii’s permission. Help aid Water types in need, let people experience what lives out there beneath the surface. That kinda stuff~!”

Manami looked up at Tatsu then, genuinely intrigued by his idea.

"That's not a bad goal to aim for, actually," she said, nodding approvingly, "I bet it'd be a real hit for the next generation of kids born here, since we're a fairly landlocked region. If you ever need a model for advertisement, I know a girl."

She gave him a playful wink before laughing and finishing her drink.

Kristal held her hand out for Kit to smell.

“Nice to meet you, Ari and Kit. I’m Kristal and I’m studying to be a nurse!” She said, “When I’m much older, obviously. I’m just doing regular schooling right now. Would you like to meet my Pokemon?”

“Yeah! I’d love to meet them!“ Ari replied, rather excitedly! He was always happy to see new Pokemon!

…especially since studying to become a nurse sounded boring!

you know that one of the yggdran princes is bi and another one is Certified Fabulous right? does this really strike you as a country that Hates The Queers or what?

"One, I think that's meta knowledge you're playing with there, as I do not believe Kai is out to anyone. And two, what the ruling party is or isn't has no bearing on what a region's people are like."

Doesn't Kalos have a fairly big not-straight community tho... and you went to school there... and it's a lot more welcoming... if Hiro can find dudes to hit on, are you sure about that, Manami

"Yes, I'm certain it does, but I've never really had a chance to experience it, I just said that. Kind of like how Kai had no idea Lumiose was an amazing, lively city. We don't live there, it's just a school and vacation spot for us. One of the downsides of being a minor looking for a gay community in a large city like that, is that most of the 'events' are structured and intended for the 21+ section of the community. I've seen the signs, believe me, but there's no way I'm getting into a bar at 16."

"Hiro flirts every now and again, I don't know if he's ever been on a date with a guy. That aside, what he does has no bearing on how my own experience will go?"

((HAPPY NEW YEAR, GUYS!! First big change, I’m finally changing the name here to something I don’t completely hate, lol. ‘litterofnerds’ was kind of a right off the temple url idea that fit? Kind of, but I honestly really hated it. My ask with Manami last night gave me a great idea, though. With the exception of Mia (whom I don’t remember where she was born, lol), all of these kids are first generation Yggdrans, so I think the name is fitting.

And also I don’t hate it!))

“I don’t think you guys understand, I’m first generation Yggdran, from a fledgling, rural region so very young that I have to go to school down south in Kalos. I don’t have a lot of kids my age up here, and most of my friends and classmates in Kalos are either straight or too focused on their studies to care about dating.”

“I’ve never met another queer girl. I’m pretty sure Hiro has flirted with a few boys in the past and my littlest sibling has their own secrets, but it’s not like I have a flourishing gay community up here. If I’m not at school, then I’m helping at the Inn, so I don’t really get any time to try and find that community, either.”

“So, yes, I am. Sorry I don’t live somewhere more metropolitan and welcoming.”

“Ho ho? Congrats to you! Mm…I still need to study more for my profession that I’d like to do, get more hands on experience too…” He would sigh as his mind would drift about the idea of helping and rehabilitating Water-Types.

The idea of opening an Aquarium in Yggdra some day that would be a safe haven for the neglected ones that would also teach about the wild ones!

“Ah…that’s a long way off though…”

Here comes Tatsu! Walking up to Manami with a wave and a big smile. "Manami~! You're looking amazing!" He would chime, it was nice to see friends you haven't seen in awhile!

“Hey kid!” Manami giggled, “Look at you! You really clean up, huh? Are you and Ryu wearing matching suits tonight? Or is the whole Conley family just looking fly in general?”

“Yeah, it makes me feel old,” she admitted with a shrug, “We’re peers, after all. Save the formalities for the actual diplomats wandering around.”

Manami leaned as well, taking a sip of her cider, “I like these ones the Yawas throw. Especially since I don’t have to work during them, hehe!”

“Oh? But according to you, I’m a ‘kid’.” He would muse to her with a sly grin as he leaned on his arm. His eyes were still wandering about though as he leaned his weight on one leg.

“Right? I just like seeing everyone get together…well…almost everyone since Kai doesn’t seem ta be coming out of his room n’ all…”

"Kai doesn't thrive in these sorts of situations, I don't blame him for wanting to stay in his room," Manami admitted, "These socialites would just rub him the wrong way on purpose."

Quickly changing the subject, she added, "I, on the other hand, have met several up and coming fashion designers and a couple of photographers who said they'd be interested in giving me a shot once I'm out of school."
