“And here I had hoped the rumors were lies,” Loki said, rolling his eyes. “Well, it’s good to see one us is changing their drinking habits.”

“Oh, is that so?” Thor smiled, looking to the other. “I don’t believe I’ve changed whatsoever, is it you, perhaps?”

“I highly doubt that,” Loki replied, his eyes narrowing slightly at Thor’s smile. “I have seen many changes in you. I am not the one changing.”

“What changes do you see, brother?” He asked, raising his eyebrow. “No longer do I thirst for war, that is true, but still...”

“Perhaps it is he who turns the blind eye to me, Loki” Thor chuckled at the joke. “But when all is done, Father is not…. in the best of places at the moment” He frowned. “But then… Perhaps he is in the best place, where his eye is blind to me being on Midgard for as long as I have been” He spoke quietly.

Loki did not appear amused. In fact, his expression darkened, his brow growing further creased as Thor spoke. A breathe of frustration slid from his lips and his green eyes grew a trace more hard. It was reminiscent of the expressions Thor used to garner in days of old when Loki was the thunderer’s voice of reason. “So it is best because he will not take action against your affection for Midgard? Really? Thor, Odin is no longer in his right mind, even as you have just said. Bespeak the healers, I am certain they shall levy the same verdict. He is insane.”

Loki’s words were sharp and succinct, adamant and earnest, “As heir to the throne it is your responsibility to take action in light of that. Odin is no longer fit to rule Asgard! Do you not understand that?” His tone betrayed his esaxpersation, “It is not enough that he allows you to lavish your attention on Midgard. There is something coming, Thor. A storm Asgard shall not be able to weather.”

“Brother, please, listen. As a candle burns brightly and eventually wanes, so has Odin’s rule. The flame is snuffed out and all that remains is smoke; a mirage, an illusion. He will lead Asgard to its death.”

“And what is it you wish me to do, Loki? Force father off the throne? Or is there still a hint of jealousy - of hate in your mind? I do not understand where you got this hate from, he has given you every opportunity to claim what is yours, but you threw it away when you fell form the bridge. Loki... Things have changed” he spoke. “I cannot take from Odin for a reason” Thor replied, looking away for a moment.

 “I have no power in Asgard any longer.”

Lost track of the last few days due to physio

“Asgard will forever be my home -and yours, Loki, but I felt the need to.. what is the word… vacation? Yes, that seems appropriate. I have come on vacation to get away from Asgard for a while, and while my hands cheer for more war and battle, my heart and mind breathe for peace” He replied, ignoring the last remark.

“Do not seek to tell me where my home is, brother.” Loki said sharply, but he was quite aware of the truth of Thor’s words. Asgard was like a shackle forever bound to his ankle for which no key existed. Sometimes the link was not heavy and he was proud to bear it; at others occasions it was like a cruel weight and he cried with frustration for its presence. He did not even know why he loved Asgard, when it did not return any of that sentiment. 

A slight smile lifted Loki’s lip, and a soft, almost cynically amused breath rushed from his nostrils. Some attributes of Thor had not changed; there was still warrior’s blood in his veins and nothing could entirely extract that desire for battle. But it was well of what he said was true, and he also sought peace. But it did not escape Loki’s notice that Thor entirely avoided his question concerning Odin.

“So Odin’s reign does not please you…” He murmured, “Thor, you cannot forever turn a blind eye to him. Asgard is complacent and he only encourages its slumber. Asgard is a ripe apple for the picking and what will Odin do if its enemies came to harvest? Face them still with swords and spears, with the old ways?”

“I tend to try and look my best for you. To look…pleasing in your eyes.” He replies to him.

“I think you’ve told me several times.” Loki grins before kissing his cheek.

“Yes, several thousand, I believe!” He smiled, kissing the other’s cheek in return.

“Oh yes, how could I have forgotten?” He grinned. “You look fine as is, brother, no need to make yourself look better”

Loki sneaks a small peck of a kiss to Thor’s check. “But I want to. I like to look good for others.”

“For others or for yourself?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.

“’Tis Midgard, Loki, where else would I be? As its protector, I am obligated to come down and protect it from the evils it faces” He replied simply. It was strange to see his brother here, but at least he wasn’t causing mischief… or was he?

“Yes, you have said as much. But you used to belong to Asgard as well. Has it ceased to be your home?” Loki’s tone was not derisive, but there was a hint of earnestness in his eyes that bid Thor not to be lulled into a false assumption that Asgard was safe from all that might threaten it. “Do you trust Odin’s reign so fully?”

The thunderer stopped, looking at the other before him. “Loki” Was all he said, his mind telling him it was just an illusion; yet his eyes and heart telling him he was there before him. “I thought you were elsewhere”

Loki. That was all. Simple, short and to the point. It was no more a greeting than a snarl might have been, and he released a soft sigh, even as his jaw shifted. “One often finds others in the place they least expect.” He remarked, casting a glance about them. “Midgard is not an unpleasant Realm, even though its inhabitants always are in a hurry, seemingly fleeing from their swiftly ending lives.“

“You…I did expect you to be here.”

“Brother.” It was a soft rush of breath as Loki set his eyes on the god of thunder. It was warm, and though France’s summer was temperate and mostly unoppresive, the heat was still not to his liking, thus he did not wear a cloak. He had not expected to see Thor here, but it was not so strange, due to the other god’s fondness for Midgard.

Loki, though tense and uncertain, felt too weary to be angry at Thor. “Are you enjoying the city of light?”
