Summary: Siblings Sally (Burns) and Franklin (Partain), along with their friends, take a trip to visit their grandfather’s desecrated grave. They take an ill-fated detour to their family’s farmhouse along the way, which introduces them to the crazed family next door. The teens are terrorized by the murderous crew, which includes the infamous Leatherface (Hansen), and are unsure if they can survive the disturbing encounter.

Expectations: I have seen a lot of horror movies. This is one of the “classics” that I’ve managed to miss over the years, and I’ve been told that it’s one of the most frightening movies ever made. Honestly, this is the type of story that tends to scare me the most; supernatural horror can be creepy, but human horror truly disturbs me. So, I’m not sure it will live up to the hype, but I’m almost positive that I will get really, really scared. Or, at least grossed out.

The Fly (Halloween 2016 #1)

2/5 Glow Stick Machines: Makeup Saves the Day

Sorry, this one was super dull to watch. There was so much talking (which is, admittedly, something popular from the 50s) and so little action that I could hardly pay attention to it.

However, the makeup and special effects are pretty impressive, especially once you are able to see the Fly itself. Like I predicted, Vincent Price was fun, although his character seems to have been a second thought, probably just so they could say they had him in it. He contributes next to nothing to the actual plot, but he’s entertaining! But, yeah, overall pretty boring. This is one classic horror film that deserved to be remade, so I would recommend David Cronenberg’s adaptation instead.
