Hey! I decided to come back and enjoy some wandering through the Vertoak city (it was my favorite map years ago!), and I was immensely overfilled with joy to see it has been updated in 2022, all these years later! This really is a surprise that is most pleasant. Thank you very much for putting the effort into it, both now and back then! I was also wondering, how much attention is it getting nowadays from players? Surely I can't be the only one who feels so nostalgic about it...

There is a small amount of attention it receives, but it isn't nearly the same as before. There are far more maps and resources out now too, so newer Minecraft builds and addons reasonably took the spot-light. All I want to do is to make sure anyone looking is able to find the newest version.

Vertoak is please to announce, after an extensive delay, an update to the city! The map has now been upgraded to Java Minecraft 1.17.1. Several areas of the have been expanded, most notably a region east of the city center, and a rural farmland county to the west. Command blocks have also been fixed to work with the current version of Minecraft! A lot of updates have gone in to bring this map up to date, and it likely won’t be the last! yo are you still working on vertoak city?

I’m attempting to bring it up to speed with the modern world new Minecraft updates. Fixing command blocks, add some new buildings, the whole 9 yards.

Hello all! It’s been some time, but Vertoak City is proud to announce that it has its very own website. Not only this, but construction has re-started for a new version of the map, along with efforts to modernize the previous features. (Updating command blocks, ect.) The status for this can be found on the website. The city will also post photos of its progress here and on vertoakcity.com. It’s nice to be back! -Fish

BROVILLE HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!

I saw! I haven’t exactly been going to Tumblr very often, but I’m happy for Oldshoes that he could finally wrap up that project. I’m sure he’s relieved and able to relax more than usual. It’ll probably end up being the best Minecraft city map, unless Minecraft’s popularity exists for many many (many) more years.I smiled seeing my name on the long list of contributors, I hope my minuscule fraction of work was up to par. Congratulations to the Team: Oldshoes, Golonka, and everyone else for reaching completion. Hopefully if I ever make it back to Minecraft I’ll run into you guys on a server.The Vertoak consulate has sent an enchanted gift basket to Broville as well. Hopefully that .dat file doesn’t corrupt anything.

Have you started working on a post-13 version of Vertoak? (I don't want to rush you Fish btw, take all your time!) Also, can you put a download link to the old versions of the map that you still have? I would really like to see how the Beta town slowly grew into a huge city!

I have not, I’ve been away from tumblr and minecraft for a while. I can answer your request with a link to Version 3 (the oldest version I have, 1 and 2 are for all intents and purposes gone.) Back in the day Versions 1-5 were released once a month, so there wasn’t too much difference between them. Maybe I’ll get back into it, but I’ve noticed that the map downloads have lowered since the peak activity of Version 11. Its nice to see that in total though, Vertoak was downloaded over 867,000 times. Maybe I’ll try to break a million some day. Enjoy Version 3! I’m going to go poke around it too.

Hey, I'm wondering if this blog is still active. Are you still working on Vertoak?

I’ve taken a break... I don’t particularly have an big plans right now for the map in the future. Its very possible I’ll add to it again, but I was out of the country for a while and it kinda put a pause on my Minecraft playing. The various gaps that I’ve taken in working on Vertoak have also allowed other city maps to catch up (many have way more people working on them than just me). Who knows, maybe they’re be a version 14, but I wouldn’t start counting down the days just yet.

It exists. Its just fallen into the sewer. You’ll have to find it.

Do you ever plan on redoing the high school or putting in a college? I'd love to see that.

The highschool needs to be redone in some way. The exterior is terrible. Its going to be a while though, I haven’t been able to play anything as I’ve gone out of the country for a while.

Why does the spruce tower next to the hospital look like it's been burned?

It shouldn’t! Neither the Sequoia Tower nor the Mining Co. should have fire damage.
