Noriko Ogura, Ultimate Internet Vigilante
not much to say on her design, i just tried to make her look more fantastical for lack of a better word and also gave her a rabbit's foot sine i think she would be pretty superstitious
for her backstory, i changed her ultimate to be more focused on her work as an internet vigilante since being an itasha painter felt extremely random. i also wanted to focus more on how her chuunibyou persona is sort of a front for her i.e. her breaking character in chapter 1 with akiba at the warehouse. it felt like past that point she had very little development so i wanted to flesh out her character a bit more, making her a loner to amplify her savior complex
in the story she doesn't befriend matthias, akiba, or anybody for that matter. she only gets to know maekawa, ruka, and nishiguchi at first and refuses to talk to the men until she's forced to pair up with matthias. she lets her guard down with him as she considers him naive and non-threatening but is still slightly hostile with everybody else. after chapter 1 her savior complex kicks in once everybody realizes that even somebody like ouno would murder, and she becomes more protective over matthias, excluding him from the bleeding, but her persona is almost completely shattered when matthias ends up getting executed. still, she manages to maintain it, set on not letting a murder happen again. it gets to the point where her search for control of the situation becomes overbearing and she’s called out by yaitabashi, who knows all too well about people babying others. ogura is forced to realize that the burden of finding an escape should not be her own, and yaitabashi and ogura agree to formulate a plan to end the killing game, letting hirose an maekawa in on it by the end of chapter 3. by the end of chapter 5 they’ve done enough work to set their plan into motion, and with the encouraging words of erina they tell the other two survivors (shishikura and nishiguchi) about the plan and revolt against monomoko, successfully escaping together and ending the killing game prematurely.
her backstory and a bonus of her eye under the patch:
Noriko Ogura was born to a single mother who died in childbirth, so for most of her early childhood she lived in an orphanage. She wouldn't stay there forever, as when she was 4, she was adopted by two loving fathers. Noriko had always been an introverted and shy girl, gaining an interest in art but only showing her drawings to her fathers or keeping them to herself. This interest in art had stemmed from discovering anime when she was around 8 or 9, but she didn't have anybody to share it with as her classmates considered watching anime a pretty weird hobby. That all changed when Noriko went to high school. Her dads had moved to a new neighborhood, which meant a new school, new people, and overall new beginnings. She took on a chuunibyou persona, becoming the self-proclaimed Patron Goddess of Women across the Second Dimension. It made interacting with people like her much easier—she could pretend to be someone much more confident than her real, awkward self. She quickly became popular with members, especially female ones, of the art club, anime club, and cosplay club at her new high school, and was seen as a bridge between members of the three clubs. She's kept up the act for a long time, only dropping it when she's by herself or at home with her fathers. As a child with way too much internet access and freetime, Noriko had seen a lot online. She had also come across many odd people; people with ulterior motives. She took on her third identity as an internet vigilante, catching predators and criminals on the dark web and anonymously sending evidence to the police. All of these events in her life were so much that they soon became part of one identity. The shy, awkward art girl, a Patron Goddess, and an internet vigilante—they were no longer just acts, but part of who she was.
