[2/5] Favorite Bromances - Grant Ward and Leo Fitz
Marvel’s Agents of P.A.W.N.E.E. [12/?)
“Oh god, did he use the dad-voice? Like you’re kids that need to be sent to separate corners?” It was a voice she knew all too well, because as much as Coulson let a lot of her antics slide- there were quite a few times she crossed the line that earned her that specific tone of voice. “Doctor Jemma is bossy, remind me not to piss her off… she’d probably get even more stabby with the needles.” She half-joked, because truthfully, she’d been donating quick a bit of blood for scientific purposes. Her lips pressed together at the mention of D.C., her mood dropping. “I was there, with Coulson, when the shooting happened… supposed to be keeping an eye on things but it just happened so fast. It was terrible.”
“Oh yes.” The dad-voice was strong in Coulson. The man was good at acting like the father-figure to what Fitz could only assume was a growing number of agents under new role as Director. “I wonder if he’ll rub off on May. I don’t know what I’d do if she started to pull a mum-voice on me. That’d be weird. It’s still a little weird even hearing her talking at all.” He doubted Skye would feel the same considering the woman had taken over as her SO, but the engineer rarely spent time with the older woman unless a mission called for it. “Doctor Jemma is infuriating.” he nodded in agreement, having had plenty of experience being full of the cold, suffering from the flu or food poisoning only to have her fussing over him in a way that brought a little smile to his face. The smile lasted barely a few moments before disappearing. The events that had transpired had been a horror story unfolding before their very eyes. Having only witnessed it through the television screen, he could hardly imagine what it might have been like in person. "The Insight helicarriers would’ve been good that day...”
I’m sure I will, even if it’s an old ipod from 2004. Walk me through your work.
I’m not an Apple man. Uh... Well... Everyone-- The ICER is most widely used around here. It’s a, uh.. a... it has... It’s a tranq gun, essentially.

Settling back down in her seat, the smile failed to leave her expression. Hearing that they had some sort of shouting match wasn’t surprising for her- anytime tensions were high and things were left unsaid, it was likely going to come out one way or the other. “That’s great though! I mean, not the yelling, I would hate to hear you guys fight, but it’s great that it helped work it all out.” She presumed that it must have happened when she’d been sneaking off base, for her to not have heard it. Laughing lightly, Skye gave a small nod. “Jemma? Terrifying? Alright, yeah, I could see that… as for luck, I have to admit, if you have any to spare, feel free to send it my way.”
“Coulson walked in on us. I think he looked a little surprised.” Fitz wasn’t sure himself and Simmons would ever live that one down, but they were bound to have more pressing issues to address given their jobs than those. “You’ve seen Doctor Jemma. Imagine that but worse. “ he joked, laughing at the thought. “Well, seeing as you asked nicely, alright. Honestly, I’m just-- I’m sort of... Everything’s getting...tense... After what happened in DC, I’m just-- We need a lot more luck...”
That’s part of the job kid, things backfire all the time. Still have the mark of hitting the wall with the suit. Good times. But good, let’s just hurt people, not kill them.
Yup. Yep. I’ve-- Yeah. Got a few war wounds. Plenty. Exactly. I’ll show you, ah... Uhm... We can go to the lab, you’ll find something y’like. I hope.
Game On || Fitzsimmons
The way he stood to his feet made it look like participation in her activities that she figured fun was a chore and a bore, but she didn’t pity him for even the merest of seconds. There had been hours that she had spent worrying about him, bent over his bedside or with her fingers twitching beside her mobile, and hell; if that wasn’t enough, then there were the nights she had spent just watching him muck about with blueprints and fragments of the odd-stolen compound. Not that she was complaining, or trying to be self-entitled. No, Jemma definitely loved every single second that she had spend with her favourite engineer playing on her mind - It simply meant that she was deserving of a little bit of his time too.
But with Fitz up next to her, an excited smile on her face, the young biochemist nudged the man with her elbow. She wanted to stir something up in him, something… positive. He was simply just too pessimistic for her liking, she wasn’t going to accept it. They might not have been exactly Dancing With The Stars worthy, not even close; however, it didn’t mean that a dancing video game was the worst thing on the planet. If she was going to laugh at his moves, then Fitz was certainly going to have a field day laughing at hers.
As the two of them selected their avatars and difficulty levels, had themselves recognised on the Kinect sensor and all, it hit Jemma that suddenly, she might not win this. The game might have been her idea and all, but she was really just as hopeless as Fitz was when it came to these kinds of things. There was just as equal a chance of him winning the round as there was her. It made the girl pale slightly, even as she applied her game face silently, grin setting in stone as determination take over. This was hers.
Why couldn’t she have picked something he was at least half-decent at? Some shooter, maybe even racing, hell Fitz would have quite happily sat with her and played some of the Lego games if it had meant he didn’t have to dance. Unfortunately, she just had to go and plaster that annoying smile on her face that just happened to be one of the few things that could crack through his growing sense of dread at the embarrassment of this dancing contest that was to come. “Try not to look so pleased with yourself, hm?” He fought a losing battle against a smile of his own, deciding to focus himself on fiddling with the settings for the game rather than acknowledging the dumb smile he now wore.
“This is gonna be so bad.” Nothing would convince the Scot otherwise, not even as he selected the easiest difficulty level there was. Easy might stand a chance of earning him a few more points than any of the other settings, but it wouldn’t change the fact that he was going to have to hack into the cameras the next morning to save the two of them from any of the others on base from witnessing this showdown.
“I’ve never even played this before. What’d I do, just-- Oh!” Too busy talking, the song had already begun playing, the little figures on the screen prompting the most bizarre moves he fumbled to repeat. “You never told me it was gonna start!”
