Lorictober 2021 Day 6: Antigravity
Once upon a time, Nine wished he could fly. Now, he wishes Five couldn’t fly. The Garde keeps flying up to bother him when Nine’s lounging on the ceiling. The others just leave him alone unless he’s purposely bothering them. Or, Johnny-boy’s ragging on him for being shirtless again. Honestly, the boy could just say he wanted to see with the number of times he sought Nine out to talk about it.
“If you fly up here again, I’m going to throw you to the ground,” Nine growls as Five steps into the room. Half of the penthouse had trouble sleeping, but only Five seemed to keep seeking Nine out.
He looks up at Nine and grins. “After that game? I’d like to see you try.”
Nine glares at him. Five had put up more of a fight during the capture the flag game than Nine had anticipated, and his telekinesis was strong. The challenge was exhilarating as much as it was annoying. Of course, Nine’s team still won because his plan was solid and Five was easy to keep distracted and tangled up with Nine.
Five flew up to meet Nine, touching the ceiling next to him. Nine grabbed his hand and noted with interest that Five froze and stared at their connected hands. Nine grinned lazily at him and watched Five blush in return. Then he switched Five’s gravity, briefly transferring a bit of his legacy and let, watching as Five shot to the floor before crashing back into Nine on the ceiling.
Nine laughed so hard his whole body shook. Five clung tightly to him. “Asshole. This is weird. How do you do this all the time?”
He shrugged, folding his arms behind his head. “It’s comfortable. I sleep like this.”
Five settled beside him. “I tend to fly in my sleep—well more float.”
Nine bites back a laugh. “Is it comfortable or do you wake up with like only part of your body floating?”
Five snorts. “It’s probably more comfortable than sleeping on the ceiling.” He wrapped his arms around Nine and floated to the middle of the room, making a face. “This is so weird.
Nine flipped them. “I’m sleeping on you then.”
“Your legacy’s not going to give out on us in the middle of the night, is it?” Five asked nervously.
Nine rolled his eyes. “I sleep like this. It’s not going to give out, but I promise I’ll catch you if it does.”
Five relaxed against him.
In the morning, Six walked in on Nine and Five wrapped around each other floating in mid-air fast asleep. She took a picture and sent it to everyone else in the penthouse and the message: Who all owes Marina money?
Eight: Not me, I knew better than to go against her judgement. They both actually talk to her.
Marina: Aww… they’re so cute.
Sam: I owe ten bucks. Fihting does not seem like a good flirting technique
John: You pointed a gun at me
Ella: About Five and Nine. Not whatever’s going on with Sam and John. I think I hear them pillow fighting.
Six smiled and left the couple to their sleep floating.
