She does favors for a price. She’s a fixer.
I rewatched the Fix
And now my Zoe muse is back.
Like for a starter, if anyone is still following me.

“Good. I’ll keep you posted on when we find out who this guy is.” John just hoped this wasn’t tied to anything bigger, that it was just a random case and not a string of them. He couldn’t say he particularly liked his job, but knowing he was saving lives and doing good was certainly a perk (except for those times when the person he saved was worse than the person trying to kill them).
Zoe nodded. “Please do.” She said seriously, and in that moment she was glad she had John’s number, and now Harold’s too, thanks to her helping them with the Matheson case. “And thank you.”

Root grinned at the praise. She knew she was brilliant, but still, it was nice to be told that she’d done a good job. “It’s upstairs apparently.” Making her way to the stairs, Root ascends quickly and starts looking for, well, something that may be hidden.
Zoe followed her inside, carefully closing the door behind them. There would be less suspicion if the door wasn’t wide open. Then she followed Root cautiously up the stairs, hoping that they didn’t get caught.

John nodded. “So Finch, anything Zoe can do to help us?” He knew Finch had probably listened to their whole conversation but he felt like asking. “Mr. Reese, Ms. Morgan helping wouldn’t be a good idea, she’s in a relationship Ms. Reyes, she can’t be objective.” Mostly Finch wanted to spare her of the blame if they couldn’t save her. But he also knew Zoe needed to help in some way. “But, maybe she could ask Raven about anyone who might want to hurt her, anything that’s not on file.” John smirked slightly. “Glad you came around Finch.” He relayed the information to Zoe, hoping it would help her focus on her meeting knowing she could help Raven in some way.
Zoe nodded. She could do that. As long as she could help Raven in some way instead of just sitting on the sidelines, she would be very happy. “I can do that>” She said, and though she was still worried for Raven’s safety, she was a little more focused now that she knew she could help somehow.

It wasn’t that hard to crack open the door. In fact, Root was pleased to find that she did it in near record time for her. “Et voila! After you madame,” Root said with a smile, holding the door open for Zoe. “Easy.”
Zoe was still extremely wary of this whole situation. But she was also unwilling to leave Root alone here. “Nicely done.” She said, and cautiously stepped inside the building.

John Reese & Zoe Morgan: freelance job

52zerogmech:
“I’ll ask Finch, maybe there’s something you could do to help us.” She could probe Raven for whoever might want to hurt her, it could be an asset having someone so close to the target. Though John was thinking more and more that the person after Raven wasn’t after her for a personal reason, I mean even going off her background she seemed pretty clean, aside from her previous line of work.
Zoe nodded. It wasn’t what she had been hoping for, but if she could help Raven in any way, she would do it in a heartbeat. Especially if it kept Raven safe and, most importantly, alive. “Okay, John, just let me know what he says.” She said gently, wondering how she was going to focus on her meeting now that she knew Raven was in danger.

“Gimme a sec to get ready, and then we can go.” Roger pushed back from the table and stood, collecting the empty mugs before setting them in the sink and wandering back toward the door. He pulled on the leather jacket he’d been wearing earlier and shoved his feet into the worn boots near the door, bending down to tie them with a bit of effort. “And this time we’ll actually have an umbrella. Granted, it’s got holes in it, but it’s better than nothing at all.”
Zoe got up from the table and paced around the apartment, not moving anything or touching anything. It wasn’t her place, so she wouldn’t dare. When he said they’d have an umbrella, she grinned. “Good.” Not that she really minded the rain, but it was the being soaked to the bone she didn’t like. Especially because of how late it was, which would likely make the rain colder.

Root pulled over and parked the car. They had arrived. In front was a nice house, though it was surrounded by much nicer ones. She then gets out, grabbing the bag and walks towards the front door.
Swallowing hard, Zoe got out with her. She may not be happy with this plan, but she wasn’t about to let Root be by herself.

“i’m not sure if that’s such a good idea Zoe. On the others you didn’t have a personal connection with the target.” Truthfully John was worried that if she helped out she wouldn’t be able to remain objective and focus, but at the same time he understood why she wanted to do something to help. Not to mention they could always use her skill set (though he’s 99% sure Finch will be against it for the same reason he told Zoe).
Zoe looked at him in the mirror. “You’re right, but I can’t just sit around doing nothing knowing she’s in danger, John.” Zoe swallowed down the twinge of hysteria she felt threatening to bubble up inside of her. She couldn’t just sit around to begin with, but especially not now, not when she had such a personal stake in it.

52zerogmech:
Yeah, that was true. Very rarely could he worry about his own safety when he had to protect someone else (which was why having Finch to remind him was helpful). He really hoped they could save Raven, and part of that reason was he didn’t want Zoe to have to go through the pain of losing her, it was clear she cared about her (or at least it was to him), and coming from Zoe that meant a lot.
Zoe clasped her hands in her lap in an attempt to stop them from shaking so badly. It didn’t work, but at least she’d tried. She ran her fingers through her hair and tried not to worry about Raven. “I’d like to help.” She said. “I mean, I’ve helped with others numbers.”

52zerogmech:
“Zoe, this is what we do. I can’t say we won’t get hurt, cause we might, but we’re used to it. It’s all part of the risks of the job.” John couldn’t believe he was doing this to be honest. If you had told him 7 years ago that he’d be working for a man with a machine that knew when people were in danger of being killed and he had to save them, he would have thought you were insane. But this was his life now, as strange as it was.
Zoe should’ve expected that response. “Just be careful, then.” She said simply. “Although, I guess you can’t do that either, if you want to guarantee the person’s safety.” She rested her chin on her hand and looked out the window of the car.

the-fires-dead:
“Tellin’ me. I was one of those young people, but I’ve settled down. Got tired of bein’ a little shit full-time, so now I’m only a shit when situation calls for it.” He gave Zoe a small smile, glancing over at the window. “Sounds like it’s tapering off; you need any company to get where you’re goin’?”
Zoe was incredibly surprised to hear this, that he had been one of those young people. “That’s fair enough.” She couldn’t help smiling at his words. It did sound like it was tapering off, and she didn’t relish walking back by herself. She could call her driver, but he was nice enough to offer. “I’d like that.” She told him.

52zerogmech:
John nodded, sneaking a glance back at her before turning his eyes back to the road. He didn’t really know what to say to comfort her, telling her not to be scared wouldn’t help. “Zoe, me and Finch have hardly ever lost anybody. I can’t promise you anything but we’ll certainly try our hardest to save her. And it’s ok to be scared, you care about her. If it was Finch, I’d be scared too.” Not that he and Finch had the same type of relationship Zoe and Raven had, but the sentiment was the same.
Zoe gave him a weak smile. She believed it, she’d seen them at work. Not just with herself, but with the other people she had helped them with. They were dedicated. “I believe you, John. I just don’t want you or Harold getting hurt either.”

52zerogmech:
“No thanks needed, it’s my job. And I figured you wouldn’t tell her, just wanted to make sure.” He really hoped they could save her, he hated it when he couldn’t save someone. He and Finch would certainly try their hardest. If it wasn’t someone who wanted to kill her specifically, which is what he was suspecting, then it would be harder to track down. “Have you heard anything suspicious lately? Any people who’d want to hurt her for any reason? Even if it’s not her specifically that they want to hurt, if that makes sense.”
Zoe gave a nod and a very weak smile in John’s direction. She considered his words, trying so hard not to lose her cool. “No, I haven’t. Not concerning Raven, anyway.” She explained. Could she admit it to him? “John, I have to admit, I’m pretty scared right now.”
