Lonely | Daniel & Lane
Daniel looked at Lane when she asked him if he was okay, obviously he wasn’t okay, he was never okay, he looked at her with the same fear that he looked at his abusive father with, he pulled his knees into his chest and looked down, he needed his twin so much, he was the only one he trusted and confided in, he wanted his comfort and his kind words, he didn’t want to be in this place but Zephyr was at university and he hadn’t picked up his phone calls, he hadn’t even said goodbye to him, at least Alec cared but that wasn’t important to him, Zephyr was important to him and he was seriously suffering without him but all the violence that Daniel had given his twin, god he hated himself so much, this only brought more tears to his eyes, he had even forgot that Lane was there, he got lost in his sadness, he just started at the ground, thinking of what a better brother he could be, then he looked to Lane with his glum expression and then he whispered “it-it is tr-true…..da-daddy ha-hates m-me..”
Lane blinked slowly, watching as the boy seemed to be consumed into his mind. It was sad seeing someone like this, even if she did not know who he was and why he was at the asylum. Slowly, she ran her slim fingers through her blonde hair, her eyes leaving the boy to stare at the ground as the silence filled the space between the two that sat in the dark and cold room. When she finally looked back to him, his face met with hers and Lane carefully studied the expression on Daniels face. Even though he had been quite he was reminding her more and more of her brother. The boy who spent his life by her side and was now elsewhere. The boy who used to mutter the same words that slipped out of Daniels mouth, the only difference being that he did not think their father hated him, but their uncle, the man who put all of his emotion into that blonde girl even as a child. “I’m not going to disagree with you.” She finally replied, looking to her feet and tugging on her bottom lip. “Maybe you’re right.. Maybe he does hate you.. And I know it is difficult to know that someone so close to you can hate you, but you should not care…”
