so long as there’s been gender roles, there’s been people assigned one gender role who wished they could be assigned another.
so long as there’s been patriarchy, there’s been women who wished they were born men so they could not be oppressed.
so long as there’s been homophobia, there’s been homosexuals who wish they were the opposite sex, so they were free to love.
feminists want to abolish gender roles, patriarchy and homophobia. we don’t want to “kill/eliminate all trans people”, but with no gender roles it’s hard to believe your ideology and identity based on them will somehow remain.
what they mean when they say “‘TERF’s want to kill all trans people” is “feminists want to abolish patriarchy, homophobia and oppression of women. our ideology will be abolished alongside it, (because belief in oppressive gender roles are fundamental to it’s existence)”.
‘TERF’s have no issue with people wearing whatever they want and expressing themselves how they want, but how you define “woman” - if a male can “become” a woman by complying with patriarchal standards - is build on top of oppressive tools we aim to destroy. maybe don’t build ur ideology on misogyny next time and it wouldn’t be collateral
