"The Morrigan" by S.R. Harrell, 2024.
Brigid (or Brigit) is the Celtic goddess of sun, creative arts, poetry, music, smithcraft, wisdom, fertility, and healing. Hoo boy. Lots of stuff. You go girl.
"Call on Brigid to help bring peace into your heart, heal past pain, and light inspiration for a new path in life." - Ann Shen, 'Legendary Ladies'

And busy will she be there where she stands, Washing the red out of the sins of all this slaying horde; And trampling the bones of them into white powdery sands, And laughing low at the thirst of her thirsty sword— The Washer of the Ford!

Morrigan by DavidGaillet
From the artist: In Celtic mythology, Morrighan is known as a goddess of battle and war. Morrighan often appears in the form of a crow or raven, or is seen accompanied by a group of them.
Litany of the Morrígna: A hundred names for the Daughters of Ernmas, from the Irish lore will be releasing May 1 from Concrescent Press.
We’ll be holding a launch celebration for this book at the Feathered Outlaw in Alameda, California, May 14, 4 pm. If you're in the area, you are welcome to join us for a short devotional to the Morrígan and Her sisters to celebrate the launch of the Litany of the Morrígna chapbook. We’ll recite the litany together with offerings to the Great Queens, followed by a Q&A and signing copies of the book.
The book will be available to order online starting May 1, through major book retailers like Bookshop. org and Amazon, as well as signed copies on my website. I've created this blog post which will be updated with ordering links as soon as they're available: https://www.bansheearts.com/blog/the-litany-of-the-morrgna
I can't wait to share this book with you all!

The Phantom Queen, Irish Pagan Goddess of War and Fate. A mysterious goddess of witches and warriors. Much can be said of The Morrigan, and there are many interpretations of her nature and domains; the illustration I offer you is my own.
I was inspired by a scene from Irish Mythology in the Cath Maige Tuired where she takes the blood from the heart of Indech, the enemy Fomorian king, as part of some sort of brutal ritual of war. This occurred not long after Samhain.
started chatting with someone I've been mutuals with on instagram for a while, on the subject of Danu not having existed/the general prominence of misinformation in Irish mythology, and he sent me this link to an essay he wrote and it is GOOOOOOD
Why did the scribe that copied down “Taín Bó Cuailnge” in the 12th century warned that some details in it were “for the enjoyment of idiots”
meant to challenge the romanticized view of Irish mythology and pseudo-history held by self-proclaimed "celtic" neopagans and does so BEAUTIFULLY while still leaving room for wonder and joy in the non-ancient Irish customs that have been created in the wake of trying to piece together the authentic pagan practices by the Gael & neolithic Irish
The mad thing is that one of the most fundamental characteristics of the “Celtic” traditions is the wide space they always allowed for innovation, development and intensely individual imagination; and, yes, “making things up”. There is nothing wrong with developing a Zodiac system which taps into one or more aspects of Gaelic tradition. In fact, as guardians of those traditions in modern times, it is our duty to keep developing and protecting it from becoming stagnant. A new thing that expands on and contributes to the culture can never be an issue. The problem is insisting on a sense of authenticity by falsely claiming (or believing) something is ancient, and thus genuine.

Most people today who feel an attraction to the spiritual tradition of pagan Ireland, are painfully unaware that their modern concepts, beliefs and ideas of pre-Christian Ireland were created and designed by Christianity itself; and that there was an indigenous spiritual tradition here for thousands of years before the Gaels and their gods. Only by accepting this fact can anyone move forward into a deeper, truer understanding of pre-Christian Irish mythology, history and religion.
I am not attempting to rain on anyone’s spiritual parade or diminish the importance of Irish mythology (to which I’ve pretty much dedicated my life), I actually find this wonderfully inspiring. It means that we get to decide for ourselves what our Spirituality is. We get to live it, we get to build it and embody it.
Stellar article, absolutely adore this.
This is so good, y’all.

Hot take but you can’t learn about paganism without also learning about white supremacy and how it uses pagan religions to push hate group agendas all over the world today. If you don’t learn about the connections between the two and how it operates, your ignorance enables white supremacists to keep on doing it and using it to recruit others. People in our community who do nothing and stay silent are literally a part of the problem, there is no opting out whatsoever. Divorcing the two makes the issue repeat itself over and over and over again.
It’s not hard to include this in your research and stay aware. It’s the bare minimum.
