“You have?” Neo echoed in surprise, his antennae flicking slightly in his startled curiosity. “Ah - yes, very significant. They were the first of the sapient races here, and until recently they were thought to be extinct.” He explained, gesturing vaguely as he contemplated the thought of somewhere that such a thing was not of significance. Then again, perhaps they hadn’t been the first people in other places?
“They created many notable works, both in terms of technology and magical artefacts.” He continued, though he warily eyed the thought-bereft creatures as they passed. “I’ve tried asking the recently rediscovered Roaches about their forebears, but a lot has been lost to time, and I was told that many of their records were lost when they crossed the Deadlands.” In all honesty, he was still impressed that they had survived a trip like that.
Though the caterpillar-like Inichas didn’t look like much, they were apparently rather aggressive. When the duo were near enough, about two of the creatures attempted a rolling attack in their direction, a Jellyshroom following in their wake with vague bored hostility.
Ah, that would explain the difference. There were so many mixed stories and such old history, much of the world had no clue who or what came first. Some kingdoms claimed multiple different sources, others didn’t even bother trying. Interesting they had a keen idea what sapient group first inhabited Bugaria. “Hm- props to you for actually keeping track of that. Can’t say I’ve seen many who knew the very first sapient groups in a given region.”
Though, any further thoughts on that would need to wait. Yet again the pair was interrupted by aggressive inhabitants of the den... Oh well. Galehaut still wasn’t quite keen on trying to hit the Jellyshroom in case it was more volatile than its rather apathetic expression told- but with the rolling Inichas, he had an idea. Setting down his axe, he braced himself and attempted to grab one of the rolling creatures as if it were a ball having been kicked at him. They were certainly small enough in comparison to be treated as such, before being slung at the Jellyshroom.
The other would still ram into one of his legs, causing him to recoil that leg a bit and keep it off the ground. Far from a devastating attack- but it was instinct to keep limbs out of harm’s way nonetheless. He could still balance on seven for a moment as he readjusted, trying to step back and see where the aggressive little thing had rolled to after striking him. His vision was well enough, but compared to some other species tarantulas honestly didn’t have the sharpest eyes.
