            It takes her a second to get her bearings after he teleports them to the staircase. She’s still not used to being in one place and then another. But after a moment, she grins. “Do you think we just toss it or is there a special way to do it I wonder?”

“Oh...did it not come with zhe directions?” Then he smiled at her. “We do not need zhem! We are zhe X-Men.” He crouched at the top of the staircase and peered over it’s edge. His mind could not imagine how this Slinky would interact with it in any meaningful way. “Maybe we have to roll it?”

“No kiddin” said Vivienne, her grip on his hand tightening as they approached the door. This all had to be new. In that case, how’d they get it all down here?

“What do you think’s on the other side?” she asked, trying to find a button or a knob. Stepping a bit closer, however, activated some motion detector she assumed. Only thing that would explain a blue light shooting at her eye before a computer’s voice calms said “Access denied”

“Um...vhat are you--Ah!” Kurt threw his hands up against the flash of blue light. His eyes were sensitive to direct light--they had long since adjusted to darkness. 

“Well zhat is no good! I’m going to be late again, it seems.” His face fretted, he sighed and slumped against the wall. “Typical. Zhey are probably playing a prank on me.”

Don’t Remind Me

Warren could feel the eyes of the other students on him as he walked the halls. Even he hadn’t completely forgive himself for the things he did, so why should they?  Warren continued down the hall to the room he was supposed to be training in, already knowing it would be the reason he regretted coming to this school in the first place.  The first thing he noticed when he walked in, was the other faces, all so familiar from the fight back in Cairo, even an old acquaintance who must have decided that Apocalypse was wrong. But as the blond’s eyes traveled the room further, he saw someone even more familiar than the rest.  Warren couldn’t look for more than a few seconds, he was still angry at the blue mutant for his wings, and even further for nearly getting him killed. He finally decided that maybe this class would be worth it if he could have a chance to set things straight.  He’d taken pity on him last time.  It wouldn’t happen again.

Kurt had been briefed, as the rest of them had, about Angel joining the team. The morning training session was about to start and Kurt was off to the side of the room doing stretches. He didn't want anyone to see the darkness and fear swirling now in his eyes. The thought of Warren brought him back to a dark place, and his usual upbeat demeanor was replaced by a sulleness palpable to not just the telepaths. And that's why he planned on staying as far away from him as possible. The real life Angel was more threatening than even the one of Kurt's imagination. When he entered the room, his wings towered high and mighty, his face was as cold and serious as steel. Scott called the group to line up so he could pair them off. And while Kurt still stayed as far away as possible, he couldn't move his stare from the Angel. From under his mop of black hair his orange eyes pierced the side of Angel's face, waiting for some false move or sudden act of viciousness. His tail flicked rapidly in irritation. It was the least to say he didn't trust him.

The past few years had been rough for Mitzi. After her time in the Munich Circus came to a violent halt, she’d been floatiing between cities in Germany, using whatever money she didn’t use on food to keep relocating herself with Caliban. Shortly after seeing a familiar face at a cage fight in Berlin, and beeing more confused and scared than ever, she heard from Caliban about a school for mutants. And for a pretty price, purchased passage and papers to Westchester, New York. Not speaking any English, having to communicate with the small German to English brochure on the plane and through photographs, the cards had started out stacked against her. But she overcame them, and was now standing in front of the most beautiful house she’d ever seen, suitcase sitting at her feet. 

Taking a deep breath in, she knocked at the door, free hand smoothing her dark hair back towards the topknot it was tied in.

The young x-men had taken to playing quite serious games of outside tag in their downtime. Even Scott on occasion could be convinced to play, when they told him it was "strategic enemy location and avoidance training". No powers was a rule, so instead of bamfing his way to safety, Kurt stuck to creeping in the shadows of the large Institute, where he was virtually invisible. His three-fingered hands caressed the corner of the building as he edged around the massive side. He crouched down. Peter was It, so it was very very important he stay out of site. Kurt bowed his head, but movement near the door caught his attention. A girl...with a suitcase...a new recruite?! Kurt's face lit up in a smile and he bamfed inside the Institute, smoothed back his hair, and whipped the door open in a theatrical motion and bow. "Hallo! I am Kurt Wagner. I am happy to welcome you to my house! Err, our house..."

Jean had told Kurt that Angel was still in the recovery ward. He thanks Gott in Himmel that he was okay. He was kind of terrifying with the metal wings and all, but he’d also heard those were gone too. Kurt never wanted to fight him. Not the first time, not the second time–but life sometimes was like a cage and there remains only the choice to fight or die. Or worse, watch your friends die. This Angel would someday understand that, Kurt was sure. 

He bamfed to recovery ward and put a card at Angel’s bedside. It read “I am sorry about hurting your wing” and was signed Kurt Wagner. He slipped away, hoping no one had seen him.

The blonde angel was still unconscious the color of his skin had slowly returned to it’s normal color ever since jean had found him out in Cairo, Egypt. This mutant was surely always going to have battle scars if he kept picking fights trying to show how tough he was all the time. He had nothing to prove except that maybe mutants and humans could live peacefully and equally together. If only this angel agreed to that statement that would have been true, but how they treated him before his cage matches… How they tormented him making this beautiful male fight for what seemed like just a show.

As his greenish eyes opened slowly surveying his surroundings after the blurred vision had cleared, his gaze had fallen upon a card that looked like it’d been sent from… Kurt Wagner? Great a letter from the person that caused him pain during the his time in East Berlin. What could he possibly not have to say? I mean the mutant never stopped being so optimistic about events and bad situations.. Taking the mail in his hand struggling to stretch his arms out before, he opened the piece of paper that contained Nightcrawlers message. Saying in his thoughts as he took out the letter and read to himself, “That’s all he had to say… Im sorry about hurting your wing… Yeah you should also be sorry about crossing my path…. I didn’t ask for any of this….” Warren wasn’t going to show how he really felt about that letter, because he didn’t wanna let himself open up to people especially kurt wagner…. Whom’s name he never knew till now. Where was that little runt anyways…?

Jean lowered the fingers from her temple and looked up at the rest of the X-Men. "I think Angel is...He's awake now." Scott nodded grimly. Kurt looked around at them all, seeing if this affected anyone as deeply as it did him. It was weird. Kurt was trying to stay in the groove of his new life and now there was a living reminder of who he used to be, what he used to do. And no one on the team--except perhaps Jean, who gave him a careful look--knew that. But then, wasn't that the same for Angel? Kurt himself must not be a happy sight having beaten and injured him twice. Kurt walked out of the common room they were gathered in and down toward the medical wing. Approaching Angel's door he slowed. He felt the need to square things up as soon as possible but he wasn't ready to face Angel awake. He teleported with a loud "BAMF" and a cloud of purple smoke to the rooftop, where he perched on the edge like a stone gargoyle.
