December Dancer of The Month!
The December dancer of the month is going to a young lady who is on her way to becoming a star, in fact I believe she already is. Aimee Otto is from Brunswick, Georgia and has been dancing since she was 11 years old. Her accomplishments are quite numerous and she is continuing to build her reputation as a dancer in this tough industry.
Before Aimee was a dancer, she was a competitive swimmer. Aimee got into swimming through her father. He was a swim coach, and Aimee always found dancing to be too girlie and easy. After doing swimming for so many years, and continuously coming out on top, Aimee decided to give dancing a shot at age 11. Aimee says, âThe very first time I performed in front of an audience and had that adrenaline flowing there was no turning back! I think also I was not very good but I just loved it so much and I LOVED to perform that the satisfaction of not being at the top and having a goal to reach for and to know that you may never reach it was SO intriguing.â
               After the first time she performed Aimee began to shoot to the top. To start off Aimee danced in leading roles in numerous ballet performances such as Coppelia, The Lion King, Beauty & The Beast, Wizard of Oz and The Little Mermaid. As Aimee continued, her accomplishments grew as she went on to win titles from a long list of competitions including Star Systems, Applause and Miss Prime Time. One of Aimeeâs most recent and prestigious accomplishments is her title as âBest in the Beachâ from Platinum Nationals. This award was given to the highest scoring routine of the 800 that were entered. Aimee swept the competition with a solo that she had only learned three days before performing it. Now if that isnât pure amazement, Iâm not sure what is. You can also see Aimee in Decemberâs edition of Dance Spirit Magazine featured as the Future Star Dancer, given to her from Platinum Nationals.
               Besides getting extensive training at her motherâs studio in almost all styles of dance, Aimee has also trained with all of the biggest names in dance including choreographers such as Nappytabs, Tokyo, Brian Freidman, Travis Wall and Ivan Koumaev.
When it comes to conventions, Aimee has proved herself at pretty much every one there is to name including The Pulse, Coastal Dance Rage, Nuvo and Intrigue. On top of being an amazing dancer, Aimee has proven herself as a choreographer by winning awards for all numbers she has directed and choreographed. As a teenager, this is incredibly prestigious.      Â
I first met Aimee about a year ago in The Pulse Orlando. She was dancing and I was watching her saying to myself âOh my God, that girl is amazing, she is 100 percent going to win ProtĂ©gĂ©.â And sure enough, she did. I have watched Aimee grow so much as a dancer and as a person throughout the past year and she has honestly become one of my favorite dancers out there. I love watching Aimee because she brings a vibe of creepy beauty. I know that sounds horrible, but you would understand if you watched her I mean it in the best way possible. I have never seen someone morph beauty and creepy edge in a more perfect balance than she does.
Aimee plans to move to Los Angeles, California once she graduates high school and she has high hopes of dancing professionally in commercials, movies and music videos. I have 100 percent faith in her and I believe she is going to be someone who will far surpass her goals and her expectations as a dancer.
