here comes a storm (Zero/Light)
Lightning almost let out a laughed with Zero’s use of language, but restrained herself with a somewhat lopsided smile. Recharge? Waste disposal? They were very much an interesting choice of vocabulary, but Lightning couldn’t blame him. Though his knowledge on humans intrigued her; just how much interaction with humans Zero had had with humans? It wasn’t hard to deduce that he had at least a neutral connection with humans, since he was willing to help her. It was a thought that once appeared, would stick for a while.
Stopping mid-step, she flushed slightly when he informed her that she was heading the wrong way, but thankfully her back had been turned towards Zero and he would not notice. Truly, it was not in her comfort zone to be following around anyone, but there was no chance for her to change her situation at this moment. She would continue to rely on Zero for the time being.
“I think I’m fine being an organic creature,” Lightning thought out loud, “This ‘recharging’ and ‘waste disposal’ is not as big of a problem as you might think,” she continued, finding it difficult to believe any human functions would be considered a hindrance. Though, the thought of it surely had crossed her mind before. Structurally, sleeping was, indeed, a waste of time for someone like her.
“You’d need humans to fix you up if anything malfunctions, right?” She asked, pointing at her own forearm, referring to his wires that he had shown before. It was unlike her to be so curious, but Lightning had no other source of information. The tense air around them had slowly disappeared and as they stepped outdoors, Lightning took a long, deep breath, flushing out the worries that clung in the back of her mind. The soldier watched him with focused eyes as they traveled, wondering who could have made a Reploid such as Zero.
So she was fine being an organic creature, huh? Good for her, Zero was just happy being artificial. He was rather surprised that she was so happy to stick behind the Reploid though, she didn't seem like the type.
"Humans to fix Reploids? Why would they do that? Where I come from, only one human knows how we work. We fix ourselves, and each other. Isn't it the same for you? you have those..." As he speaks one of his hands begins to circle around in the air, as if grasping for the answer, "Hospitals? Hospitals. You don't ask animals to help you, do you?"
As they both stepped outside the apartment, Zero heard Lightning take a deep breath and, purely out of curiosity, copied her. It was play-acting of course, Zero didn't have any lungs. It was an experience though, one he never really had the urge to try before.
Noted for later.
The train station wasn't far away, and Zero kept silent throughout. The natural conversation had dried up, and he couldn't think of a way to ease in a connection that didn't relate to weapons. He wanted to avoid anything so serious.
As they bought tickets and the train finally arrived the two got on. The train itself was heated to suit the stormy weather that had covered the city not an hour ago, though Zero himself couldn't feel it, merely hear the hum of the radiator. Zero's first thought was to grab one of the overhanging grips, only to find that his hand wouldn't reach all the way to the rings hanging down. Defeated, he sat in a seat as far away from the other borders as possible. As he got into position he realised that his feet didn't actually touched the ground, causing his huge feet to wave in the air. He looked at Lightning, his face showing how unamused he found the whole thing.
"I, err, don't like the rail system here..." he whispered, just loud enough so she could hear it, "It has several serious design issues."
