Thankful for quality music.
It’s the day of eating, thankfulness, and for those whose indulge, turkey, in the states, and this year, I am oh so thankful for all the quality music I access. With Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube, and social media, I have limitless access to sounds and styles of all varieties. I’m thankful for the quality music and people who create the art. From folk bands in New England America, to trance producers internationally. Here are a few labels I am thankful for, artists and songs will come. Enjoy to all whether or not you celebrate Thanksgiving - and remember - be thankful for the good people, music, and times in your life.
Thankful for these labels:
Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep: Two groups headed by the dynamic electronic trio Above & Beyond. These labels hover across the progressive and trance & deeper side of electronic dance music. I find their artists, soundscapes, and moods fit a niche spot of dance music - one of beauty and emotion.
Future Classic: An Australian label representing a wide variety of artists and they do an excellent job of promoting individual artist styles. Most other labels I feel have a blended or similar style, but Future Classic really curates individual styles. They have one of the best collection of artists in the world, all nestled in Aussie.
SAVEMONEY: I’m biased being from Chicago, but this one is for my favorite hiphop label. Certainly not the most prolific or legendary, but a label with a genuine style doing what they do simply because it’s natural. Their mindset is admirable.
SOULECTION: A label that soothes and eases the atmosphere in any place given the right artist. The weekly Soulection radio show hosted by Joe Kay is absolutely top notch - competing against Triple J and Pete Tong’s Essential Show. They represent many minorities and up-and-coming artists with a great story. They cater to traphouse jazz, r&B, and soul sounds.
