French Techno MiniDisc (199?)
Zimmer, French house/techno producer extraordinaire, joins up with the Aussie powerhouse indie band, Panama to supply a dance hit for the masses. The vocal feature adds a touch that appeals to your emotions while the drums take you and your body elsewhere. The song feels like it is calling you to explore what lies ahead, pulling you in with the repeating rhythm of steel drums in the background.

Laurent Garnier - “Dance 2 The Music (Live At The Rex Club - Paris)” Live And Rare 1998
Laurent Garnier is representative of the spirit of this tumblr. Known for being an elite techno artist, he might be better known for being one of the world’s most eclectic DJs, having a taste in music that spans nearly every genre, and being able to mix to his tastes or for just about any setting. Like this tumblr, Garnier has an appreciation for almost any music. Hailing from France, but getting his start in Manchester, England as a house DJ and from there launching a solo techno career and co-founding eclectic French electronic label F Communications, Laurent Garnier has been everywhere and seems to have done everything an electronic musician can do.
This track, featured on F Com’s 100th release, is a brilliant piece of 90s dancefloor techno. It starts with a melancholic synth, buffered by some wind effect, and then adds the “Dance to the music” vocal sample. Garnier then adds some hi-hats, hand drums, and hand claps. After about two minutes, the TB-303 kicks in. This song is all about Garnier’s TB-303 noodling, going from low notes to high notes. He’ll spend a bar playing his TB-303 at a low note and then the next bar at a high note. It isn’t until the last two minutes of the song that he ditches this theme and changes the note of his TB-303 unpredictably in the middle of a bar.
Great techno with a dark feel, yet still highly danceable.

I was in Granada walking by the grand cathedral at sunrise as this song was playing
i saw u covered in sweat/ i saw u smoking ur cigarette
ou sont les garçons qui font la chouille au discothèque
qui dance toute la nuit avec les filles avec les mecs
je cherche les jolies filles c’est claire que je cherche les belettes
qui bougent et qui transpire en compagnie d’une cigarette
