â BIOGRAPHY
Meadow grew up as a pretty normal child despite her coming out as trans at age 11. She had a loving mother and father who would do anything for her and took pride in their child. They were always supportive of whatever it was Meadow wanted to do. Needless to say, Meadow had the perfect life. Her parents were however wealthy and this would be their downfall. Meadow was awoken from her slumber by her younger brother one cold winter day, tears streaming down his face as he continued to scream at her. Having just woken up this confused Meadow.
He explained their parents were now dead and Meadow found them in their room lifeless in a pool of blood laying on their bed. The robber took everything they possibly could before fleeing leaving Meadow and her brother orphans with no money. Social services took them to an orphanage in Los Angeles, CA. Meadow and her brother were adopted shortly after they entered the orphanage. At school Meadow wasnât able to focus on her studies due to everyone talking about the tragic accident causing her to eventually be homeschooled. The tragic event followed her to her adulthood as it was one of the most âatrocious crimesâ LA had ever seen.Â
Meadow moved out on her own at the age of eighteen and decided to obtain a degree in media. The one that stood out to her the most? Fact checking. There was nothing she hated more than fake news. Determined, Meadow finished college early and got a job almost immediately at CNN where she has been for four years. In her spare time you can likely find Meadow out in the wilderness taking pictures or at the local bar.Â
Professional or whatever â Lola gets the sentiment. In theory, sheâs likely supposed to be chasing a story, but she hates it when she finds one, and worse yet, when she does. So thereâs no recorder and no notepad on her person today; to hell with professionalism.
âWell,â she drags out the word, âif you change your mind, Iâll be ordering two shots, and Iâll conveniently forget to take the second one, which means itâll be on the counter for any person â definitely not you â to take it.â If you catch her clear-as-daylight drift. âI love your name.â Shrug. âIâm a Lola.âÂ
It seemed like the shot was staring at her. She looked back at it, thinking for a moment if it was a good idea or not. After careful consideration she threw the shot back eyeing the other. âI like the way you think, Lola. I guess if everyone else is getting messed up tonight i can too.â Meadow rested her head in her hand as she stared at the person beside of her. âWhatâs your affiliation?â
Sheâd pace back and forth with nothing to do. Her blonde, once curled hair now a complete mess. Sheâd been stressing about notes all night, making sure to write anything she could down in her small notepad. Needless to say she needed a distraction. About to leave, she spotted Jin from across the room. The two had shared conversations every now and then, but never had really gotten to know each other. Meadow slowly made her way over to him and sat down. âLong time no talk, stranger!â
The peach-colored bubbles inside her drink are popping themselves to the beat of the ambiance music, Lola would swear if you asked. But sheâs also bored â and two gentle puffs into a joint packed away for later. A voice calls her to look up, and â shit, she canât believe her eyes.Â
A blonde. Sheâd been looking for one all night.
(She takes it as a sign. Of what, itâs not clear yet.)
âIt was until now,â she says, because sheâs honest. âWhat was that you just downed?â Half curiosity, half an after-thought of, I want it too. âIt looked like it could do some damage. Iâm sure everythingâs gonna start looking fun once it hits.â
Sheâs taken back a bit by the girls enthusiasm, but she likes it. Meadow eyes the now empty shot glass before letting out a giggle. âJust some tequila. If Iâm honest I wish I had more than one shot, but this will do for now. Iâm trying to be professional or whatever.â And it was boring. Noticing her note pad is still open, she closes it. âMeadow. And you are?â
Aparna had only been at the event for a mere hour and a half, but her body weighed her down and made it impossible to disguish if it felt like two minutes or twenty years had gone by since sheâd arrived. It was a disappointing moment to be told the bar wasnât serving coffee yet, but she settled for a serving of rum and coke, which she impatiently sipped through a plastic straw. Startled by the unfamiliar voice, Aparnaâs head jerked up from staring into the bottom of her glass to the otherâs face. âIâm not bored,â she sounded a lot more defensive than sheâd intended â not because she felt particularly attacked by the statement, but because her mind was working ten times faster than she was accustomed. âI mean that speech wasâ definitely entertaining.â No, that wasnât the right word.Â
âIt was something alright..â She was glad she wasnât the only one who thought the speech was..entertaining, for lack of a better word. âGetting into trouble tonight?â She only half joked but the other part of her was genuinely curious. There was no way this party was going to be a clean one, was there? Everyone was invited which meant there were bound to be people that didnât get along. âI wish I could ditch this thing and go get hammered..â
Meadow would never turn down an event. She loved the scene and the lively buzz it all brought. Normally she would be drunk out of her mind by now, but since this gathering was more professional, she decided against it. There she sat, a drink in hand as she glanced around the area. All night long she had been taking notes on her small notepad and it was getting to be quite boring. She finished the rest of her drink before throwing the cup in the trash and venturing out to find someone, anyone to talk to. Meadow noticed someone by their lonesome and decided to strike up a conversation. âPretty boring night, huh? Iâll be surprised if it stays that way.â
