One thing I love about the New Dream parts of I See the Light is how for Rapunzel everything is new all the time and it scares her. She feels deceived because that world is scary in a different way than she thought it would be. Her biggest fear is that she never wants to return to the tower, and she knows that desire is inconceivable. Rapunzel wants her mother to see the world the way she does now, that is, to allow her to be free and love Eugene. But she knows her mother will never let her, and Eugene has a complicated fate.

For Eugene, it's as if this love were the salvation of everything. He would run away with her anywhere as long as he was with her and she loved him. The love he feels for Rapunzel is light and pure and exactly how he feels he himself can be. Eugene finally finds his own light within himself.

For effect, I like to compare their parts to two of Taylor's songs: Cruel Summer for Rapunzel and Daylight for Eugene.

I must sound ridiculous but I'm truly in love with Death. (the character in the book- I haven't seen him in real life- ofc) and I just adore the way he tells her that as long as she'll have him, she's his. I'm in love with the quote too (not to mention the novel series itself)...

Also, Adalyn, C'mon! I mean couldn't you have ended it making Fate a bit happy? Now you've got me waiting for Wisteria which is gonna come out next year!! Why??

Seems like I can't get enough of surreal love stories these days but honestly it definitely is better than being caught in the clutches of reality that suffocate me. I hope it frees me and someday helps me breathe instead...
