hi so my most recent fic marks the total of 50992 words published to AO3 for The Old Guard. Okay! Why not!
remembering again the full extent of what forever is
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Andromache says, "I used to think it was my job to save you," and Quỳnh feels the oath breaking like it's her skin and bones, like she'll bleed out from Andromache's betrayal before Nile's stab. Anger, too. She is so angry.
"It was," she says, and presses the detonator.
2k words! Andromaquynh. Lots of fun to write, to be honest. I think Quỳnh deserves to be so so so angry. Discord loses, and there's a happy ending also.
remembering again the full extent of what forever is update: 2k
the "quỳnh blows them up" fic, now titled "remembering the full extent of what forever is" (hozier lyric) update: 1.7k
my other new WIP: in which Andy says "I used to think it was my job to save you," and Quỳnh tells her that it was and then hits the trigger.
(They live, don't worry. Because Andromache does as she'd promised and saves Quỳnh despite saying she wouldn't keep that promise anymore.)
Progress: 1.2k, pretty much all written in @travellingdragon's dms (sorry and thanks)
new (ish) WIP: Copley POV, in which Quỳnh comes to him first, not Booker. (Discord also doesn't exist.)
Current progress: 1.7k
48 hr exchange masterpost
Hi. Yes I know I have already posted some of these already.
WRITTEN DURING THE 48 HOURS
Cookie, Cake, and Slice, the three fics I wrote for my assigned recipient, gred_and_feorge0! All Percy Jackson fandom. Respectively, ~600, 1.3k and ~400 words. Cookie: in which Sally Jackson worries about her son and they accidentally bake cookies the 'wrong' way. Cake: in which the Athena cabin wakes Annabeth up to tell her her boyfriend is doing something weird... and it's her birthday. Slice: in which they repeat the cookie cake incident, on purpose, at New Rome University.
Shadowed valley, ~800 words for meadowblades! The Old Guard, set post-movie 1; a reflection on what it means for Andy to be mortal and still a leader, and what has changed and what hasn't.
birdsong, 2.5k for codesandstuffs. Six of Crows duology. Inej, in a modern era, who can hack safes and still thanks her saints. Featuring some light Kaz/Inej.
dream a little dream of you, 5k for DistractedDaydreamer! Percy Jackson fandom, again, but this time Rachel/Reyna, and how they might meet again post-HoO. I saw this ship posted and it enthralled me! I was indeed writing this down right to the very deadline.
Total written during the 48hrs: 10,652 words
WRITTEN DURING TREAT WEEK
Secret-holder (300 words exactly) and bloodsong (also a triple drabble), for dim_paper_lanterns! Six of Crows duology again. The request I worked from was for fun AUs and a focus on Inej, so they are, respectively, Inej in a fantasy world where she has a magical power that matches her in canon (able to see people's secrets) and Inej in a fantasy world where she has a magical power that goes against her in canon (she can hear weapons whispering for violence and they always want her to kill).
Ache, ~300 words for fensandmarshes!!!! Six of Crows duology again. Implied trans woman Nina, her femininity, how Inej is a woman too but doesn't wear it the same way, vibes of "do I want her or do I want to be her." Nina/Inej.
Belonging, ~700 words for maevedelights. Six of Crows duology, again. Inej is back in Ketterdam, for a visit. Kaz wants her help with something. Their unconventional relationship, the barrel king and his Wraith, the Wraith and her Dirtyhands. Them and their city. They do not touch. They do not need to.
lūcēscō, 8.2k for DistractedDaydreamer. We are back to Percy Jackson fandoms. Rachel/Reyna again, set post-HoO again. This one is a different AU: what if demigods have phones now, and Reyna, who can't say that she's doing fine because her dogs know it's a lie, accidentally texts a wrong number. Thankfully, she gets the one mortal who's not shocked to receive a text about killing the Minotaur. Things escalate from there. I can't believe I wrote 8k for this, frantically trying to finish it in time to post it in treat week. I hope it's enjoyed!
shining armour, ~600 words for GallifreyanFairytale. PJO again, Rachel/Reyna again. This one's a modern AU, in which Reyna is a historical re-enactor and Rachel runs a flower shop and the new meds that are meant to help her fainting spells aren't exactly up to the task.
Words written over the entire exchange: 21,060. Now I have to get back to my actual life.
@extremetimedchallengeexchange mods, thank you so very much for running this incredibly fun event! Thank you also to everyone who sprinted with me :)
dream a little dream of you
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
That gets her a proud smile. "I was a praetor for a while," Reyna says. "Retired, now. I'm between positions; I was thinking about joining the Hunters."
She doesn't say anything else about that. Rachel can't blame her; that sounds very personal, and they've only just met. "The Hunters are cool," she says.
Reyna sighs. "I don't know if it's for me," she admits, and looks almost surprised at herself. "There's… a prophecy."
Rachel snorts. "I know something about those," she says, and extends her hand. "I should do the full thing, I guess. Nice to meet you, Reyna. I'm Rachel Elizabeth Dare, current Oracle of Apollo."
5k words!
I wrote this at breakneck speed in sprints in the last few hours of @extremetimedchallengeexchange and it's for a ship I hadn't ever considered before but which was lots of fun. Excellent prompt.
Birdsong
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Inej slips down, lands with barely a sound, walks three isles down, five steps in, punches in her birthdate, overrides the error message by requesting to change the code, puts in the generic back-up check-code and… yes, they hadn't changed it from the default.
Amateurs.
2.5k for @extremetimedchallengeexchange. This fic was one I thought might get me to 5k, but... did not want to go that long.
Shadowed valley
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
It's what doesn't change that surprises her the most. Sure, she bleeds now. Sure, she feels each fight for a few days, now, her muscles sore, bruises tender and aching. But —
Approx 800 words, also for @extremetimedchallengeexchange!
Cookie / Cake / Slice
Three works I wrote for the 48hr exchange run @extremetimedchallengeexchange!
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Sally laughs. Her feet ache and her eyes are dry and itchy, remembering the tears she'd swiped away before Percy got home from school.
She hands him the box of chocolate chips and watches him tip them all in. It's too many, probably, but it'll work. They'll make it work.
Approx 600 words
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
"What's going on?" Annabeth asks. She won't be able to go back to sleep now.
"Your boyfriend is doing something," Malcolm says, and… yeah, she should have expected this.
1.3k words
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
They make a cookie cake for Percy's birthday. In between classes, maybe, but they bake the cake.
Approx 400 words
rome crashes against the curve of your back (all roads lead back to you)
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Andy, through time, and the living act of finding a home and family.
Minoan Crete, circa 1300 BCE
She'd stayed here too long, perhaps, the first time. It's like a shock of cold water, a blade in the back. It's another lesson to learn: she cannot control how she is remembered. She can make lasting change, but she can never stay.
CHAPTER ONE IS UP! Each time period I pick will get 1000 words exactly and there will be an overarching plot. First up was Minoan Crete. Coming next will be the fall of Troy. I'm doing so much reading for these, and you all get to be witness to it through footnotes. If I get something wrong please tell me!!
portrait of a girl as longing, girl as home rendered in light, girl with a citrus mouth & sunscape hands. heartbreak girl / heartache girl. melodrama in three acts, meaning tragedy is the last one.
see the drowned light pouring onto our hands? see me, foxglove at my mouth? we are both kneeling begging for forgiveness & absolution is an ochre-colored word / there’s never enough of it to turn to gold. rome crashes against the curve of your back. all roads lead back to you.
& she says, there is a world where angels are made of sunrise & something ruinous. let me take you home. let me fold pages of history above our heads so we can search for something greater in them. you know i would have loved you in a past life.

rome crashes against the curve of your back (all roads lead back to you) AKA "the old guard through the ages" fic progress: 1k!
I have now written Andy in Minoan Crete, which is the first of the eras on my long list, mostly due to their use of the double axe symbol. I have read so many pdfs on linear a. I have done so many google searches. This is the type of fic i very much could provide footnotes for
Andromache in Minoan clothing, inspired by John Collier's Clytemnestra (1914) and to a lesser degree Clytemnestra (1882).
Next thing on the list is the guard through the ages, which doesn't even have a working title yet.
'til then my windows ache
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Andy misses her axe. Andy misses Quỳnh, and her axe, and the rest of her team, and sometimes that seems to hit her like a sledgehammer. It's loneliness like a knife, piercing her between her ribs.
"Are you using those?" the woman asks. Her voice is a false memory, too.
OR: in which Andy stays behind while the team runs a mission, and she doesn't believe her eyes, at first, when Quỳnh finds her.
7.7k
This one was good fun and then it fought me and then it was good fun again. I hope it's equally rewarding to read!
