This is easily one of the CRAZIEST videos I've ever gotten. I was rafting down a river when a Yellow Jacket came, landed on my bright pink waterproof phone pouch, and started drinking from the water droplets that had gathered there.

The most amazing part is how the water droplet magnifies the Hornet's mouth parts, so you get to see them up-close!!!! It was FASCINATING to witness!

Various odds and ends from the Blackwater River Canyon and Canaan Valley, captured earlier in the week before a massive heat dome set in across the East Coast. The Blackwater River and tributaries were at full flow from several days of heavy rain and the spruce-hemlock woods looked damp, lush and mysterious, the way I love them. On any given weekday, the white tails seem to outnumber the human beings in the valley - many skittish fawns leaping and darting about their mamas this past week. On the downside, the black flies are now at their summer peak, and they can make a long hike a miserable experience. But I love this place dearly, and biting bugs are but a small price to pay for a couple days of restorative communion with Mother Nature.

This time all sneak peeks from book 3 (in process). Aerial views of the Cañada region, with Yabaham (Cuicatlán), and Naxi Yujne (Quiotepec) visible; and a night scene in the highlands flanking the Cañada to the west.

I'm fascinated by how the animators for TADC handle Caine's impossible anatomy so well. There's so much to balance and they've somehow engineered a solution for his expressions to hold during speech.

I also traced Caine answering the phone from episode 4 to demonstrate his phonemes and mouth shapes.

ONYX EQUINOX ART BOOK FROM ALLTHEANIME

Recently, UK anime distributor "alltheanime" released a special edition blu-ray of Onyx Equinox and it included a small art book with some familiar designs we've seen in the past plus some never before seen. Achille Etna Michallon, a landscape painter of exceptional talent, won the inaugural Prix de Rome in 1817. His study in Italy had a profound influence on his work during the remainder of his short life (he died of pneumonia at only 25). In this painting, he depicted the commune of Mont-Dore, located on the Massif Central in the Puy-de-Dôme department of central France.
