“I hope to god I’m not as numb as you make out!”
rekant:
she looks at him for a long time with this stupid blank look on her face like she can’t understand what he’s saying. she sees his mouth moving, knows that words are coming out, but none of them stick to the walls inside her head. she doesn’t remember asking. realistically, she never would have.
‘ i had alcohol poisoning, but i’m cool now. ’
they wanted to run tests on her liver. sometimes these things are better dealt with when they become a real problem.
‘ did you annoy someone into calling an ambulance? is that what you said? ’
“I guess I did. I think I scared them, more than anything,” he says, the crumpled Kleenex still in his nose like a frozen bubble of snot. He sits back in the ER waiting room, waiting to be discharged. He stretches his arms along the length of the chair’s, and feels very free and tingly and full of static and syrup. Rolls his head on his neck and says:
“It’s a good thing to be here, with you, on such a beautiful night like this. I think you look great in the fluorescent lights. You don’t even look like you’ve had alcohol poisoning. You look super young and fresh. I wish we could go surfing together, you know?”

“I’ve got a painful, swelling brain, in the back of my head. Got me pulling out my hair.”
backstagetothedoctors:
He continued scrutinizing the menu, even squinting his eyes at it. On onlooker that didn’t know him well would think he wasn’t paying attention from the intensely focused look on his face, but unless he was sleeping, Jareth was one that was always listening. Though, that didn’t mean he always answered.
He ignored the question about folk music, moving right back to the menu. “That’s not exactly what kosher dietary laws entail. It’s about what God considers to be clean and unclean animals.” There was little inflection to his words, making it sound almost as if he were reading from a book. “Nothing to do with being ‘humane’ or not.”
Jareth sighed and put the menu down. Sometimes he wondered to himself why he was so dedicated to following kosher law, and be default religious word, when it was always such a struggle. Then he remembered what it all meant to him, how it had helped him and his family throughout his life, regardless of whether or not it was real.
“Only fish that have both fins and scales are considered clean. Thing is, I don’t know jack shit about fish, except that mackerels are kosher. So I’ll have the mackerel sashimi, whatever that even is.”
He knocked back the rest of his sake.
Romeo isn’t about to tell him about his atheistic ideology or the fact he could give less of a shit about Kosher dietary laws, and he isn’t about to ask him why he waltzed into a sushi restaurant when he won’t eat anything without scales. But he gives him a curt nod and retreats behind the bar, summoning the one and only mackerel from today’s shipment. It doesn’t sell often.
Rice vinegar. Salt. That’s it.
He makes pretty intense eye-contact with Jareth as he slices through the poor fishey’s body, the loud clunk of the knife cracking against the cutting board interrupting the music that’s playing overhead--Pale Shelter.
Plating it upon a bed of radish, beside ginger and wasabi, he brings his picky eater, his musician, his food. Its scales glint purplish in the light of a neon menu. He then oddly extends a hand with his red, beautiful nails, and ruffles Jareth’s hair.
“Live to eat, kiddo.”
like this 4 a lyric starter!
I’ll stop the world and melt with you, you’ve seen the difference and it’s getting better all the time

y’all remember that point in the rpc in like. 2014-2015 when ppl decided there were “too many” gay (mlm) ships and that they weren’t “paying enough attention to female characters” jrdhfgikjdfhgdfkjgh
maybe it's just me but i feel like there are a lot of homosexual/bisexual characters here that don't actually write out anything gay. it's just like a label to make ur character more interesting. i'm not even talking "write out explicit sex!!!" but i can't remember the last mlm ship or rp i've seen here. maybe i'm just not following them?? or i miss them when they r posted lol
senselessyears:
He doesn’t really know anything about this restaurant he’s wandered into, chosen mostly at random–such is life for a touring musician. Finding himself in unfamiliar cities with nearly all his free time sucked away by rehearsal, wandering the streets within a few blocks’ radius of his hotel or venue and ducking into whichever restaurant caught his interest, if not his eye, first. This one will do. Felix steps inside, removing his sunglasses and setting them atop his blond head.
Somewhat less expected is the man inside the restaurant–the host?–who hands him his menu. Looking up as he hears the words, for one brief moment shaken out of his mundane touring routine. Eyes widen fractionally, quirking his left eyebrow in his signature way. It’s an odd coincidence, but the other man’s knowing greeting has taken a bit of the edge off its surreality.
“Hello yourself.” His tone growing slightly warmer with amusement as he recovered from his initial surprise at the uncanny sensation of looking into a mirror. Well, a mirror with certain alterations, the most notable of which is brilliantly red lipstick, shiny as vinyl. Apparently such a thing would suit him far better than he ever would have guessed. “Tell me, what is someone as unutterably good-looking as you doing working in a restaurant?” A slightly dry tone. There was nothing to do in such a situation but roll with the absurdity.
Everyone apparently has one lookalike somewhere in the world. If not their twin, someone, somewhere, that is currently alive, looks just like them. It’s a real-true-honest-to-god statistic, Romeo thinks--he’s sure he’s read it somewhere in a pink, girly magazine he’s picked up before. But he doesn’t quite remember. What a coincidence, though, that Felix has happened to wander into Romeo’s restaurant! Romeo takes note of his English accent. The stars have aligned! His European counterpart!
Or Romeo’s fallen prey to his wavering sense of reality again. Both are equally plausible.
“I know, I know. If I was only a hostess, it’d be tragic,” he says, as if this is the most normal thing in the world. They garner turned heads from the table beside them as he leads Felix to the bar. He wonders if they assume that him and Felix are brothers--if the accents differentiate them enough. It’s an exciting new thing! He can’t wait to add this detail to his life, like a classy accessory. Like carefully applied rouge.
“But I own it. Not bad, right? Twenty-six and my own restaurant on the Strip!” he brags, grabbing him a glass of white wine immediately, despite the fact he has yet to order anything. “What is someone as unutterably gorgeous as you doing in my restaurant? Hey...”
He leans down close and whispers in his ear that looks just like his, “This is weird, right?”

biirdbone:
“Oh, my God. Honestly? Same.” She moves to hold his hand with both of her own. She loves him! Feels like they’re related or something. It’s kind of like looking in a super pretty mirror. She’s enchanted. Emma won’t take any future psychotic episodes to heart – you should really meet her family. Or any of her other friends, really. She doesn’t know a single normal person. “Totally down… What’s your idea of fun, hon’?”
He likes to be touched tenderly. Especially when he’s sane. Romeo is such an isolationist, such an outcast from the prospects of all life and society, that he rarely ever gets touched. And when he does, it’s usually violent flailing while he’s got a neck between his big hands, and his knees pressed to their legs, and he’s strangling the life out of them. But that kind of touch is not, like, of their own volition. So that hardly counts, you know?
“I hope you don’t mind me admitting to being very lame and unexciting, but I would like to play with your hair and watch Forensic Files with you.”
pestaside:
A flush of color comes into his sickly face at being called ‘sexy’. He’s unfamiliar with the term being used to describe himself and he’s uncertain how to take it. “That’s about it, I’m afraid. A poor diet and no sunlight. Maybe the English blood might have something to do with it too?”
“Oh, I suppose so. I don’t know. I labor over collecting products that will make me as paper-white and shiny as some sort of porcelain doll, or a pretty geisha. I buy these powders and this sunscreen-based moisturizer and I even have a parasol. I live in Vegas, though, and the sun is unrepentant. It’s like a DESERT, or something!”
