time  consuming  as  they  may  be,  athletics  have  their  perks.  a  good  reason  to  exercise,  first  of  all.  adjusting  the  waistband  of  her  legging  shorts,  strawberry  blonde  hair  remains  tied  behind  her  head  as  she  begins  loading  plates  onto  the  bar  in  front  of  her  to  prepare  for  her  squats.  with  plenty  of  classes  still  ongoing,  the  gym  is  relatively  empty,  though  not  completely  so.  amelia  planned  this  for  a  reason;  it  makes  getting  through  her  workout  quick  and  painless.  as  much  as  she  revels  in  the  attention,  at  least  from  a  certain  group  of  patrons,  today  that  comes  second  to  preparing  for  the  upcoming  season.  once  the  weight  is  clamped  down,  she  rests  her  arms  against  the  metal  bar  only  to  turn  her  gaze  toward  the  figure  watching  her.  ❝  oh !  shoulda’  said  somethin’,  didn’t  know  you  were  there.  ❞  a  warm,  sweet  smile  played  at  her  lips  as  that  subtle  drawl  twists  her  words.  ❝  you’  wanna’  just  stand  there  or  you  wanna’  spot  me ?  ❞  @allertonstart​

   kelcy isn’t really one for working out. she’s a firm believer that you shouldn’t run unless you’re being chased. however, she has the unfortunate misfortune -- how was that for redundant, she thinks; she considers that she needs to choose words more judiciously if she’s ever going to be a journalist worth her salt -- of having to take gym as an elective. it’s not so bad normally, just tossing balls into hoops and running around in circles. but kelcy, though lithe, isn’t really fit. she doesn’t have muscle. she’s mostly skin and sinew. she’s amazed at the redhead, the way she’s able to flex muscles and wield the weight like it’s nothing. kelcy’s eyebrows raise slightly at the girl’s invitation. “uh... i dunno, i think i’ll just sit here. you probably don’t want me to spot you. it’ll be like one of those horror movies where i’ll drop the weight on your neck and then, kapooosh.” she mimicked the motion, fingers spreading out thin at the end. “you’re done-zo.”

   it was with lifted brows that odessa watched the woman perform, quite frankly a legend in her own right, it seemed. her comment caused odessa to snort a small laugh, though she appreciated the woman’s confidence. sometimes, she wished she had that measure of it. odessa had only come into the gym to use the water filter (it was better than the one in the library, and closer to her classroom). she waited for a moment, so as not to distract the coach, only then going to to fill her water bottle. “you’re right,” she said, so it didn’t seem awkward. “it was a perfect landing. i mean, i don’t know the first thing about gymnastics, but... well done. seriously.”

aja nearly jumped out of his skin when someone sat next to him. he glanced over and rose his eyebrows when he thought he recognized her. “yeah, yeah. i guess you’re right.” he took one last glance at the paper he was supposed to be grading before closing his laptop. “they probably gave me a fork even though I always grab chopsticks, here, lemme …” aja dug around in the plastic bag that housed his stir fry from the union, finding the plastic fork he had correctly assumed would be there. “and food’s meant to go into your mouth and stomach, not in your face,” he hummed, teasing kelcy for her wording as he handed over the plastic wrapped fork and napkin. he pulled out the chopsticks he had grabbed as well and started eating some of his stir fry. “did you take one of my history classes?” he asked between bites. 

   the closing of his laptop, for kelcy, meant that she had succeeded. as though to prove her point, she pumped her fist once in the air with an exaggerated ummph! noise of victory. eyes grew wide as he hunted for a fork and she exclaimed, “aha!” when his search proved fruitful. “i knew i liked you.” she took the fork immediately, diving in to her own tupperware, stabbing into the jambalaya and raising the bite as though in a toast. “heyyyy, to you, my friend.” she enjoyed the bite before answering his question, hand coming up to hover in front of her lips as she finished chewing. “yeah, and i’m in there right now. did i already say my name was kelcy? i’m usually like... in the straight up middle of the classroom. i’m in global politics right now... had the ancient history course last semester.”

aja was already exhausted. it was in the middle of the semester, and each of the professors he was assisting this semester had him doing all of the heavy lifting. he brought the thousand ton stacks of assignment packets, he made the all of the presentations, he organized and took attendance. he didn’t even want to think about tomorrow, when his own grad classes were. he had a three hour break now–something he might normally use to go home and relax–but aja worried if he left campus, he might not come back for the rest of the day. so he collapsed on a bench outside, lunch on the table he sat at, and just enjoyed the cool chicago air. finally, he sat up, pulling out his laptop so he could get ahead on his TA duties, instead of being swamped tomorrow. 

   kelcy wasn’t always in tune with what other people were going through. in fact, the girl would have even called herself disorganized at times, struggling to keep her thoughts and her calendar straight. she went down rabbit holes too easily; one new bit of information led to another, and soon, she was three hours in and she hadn’t actually learned anything she was supposed to, but god damn it if she couldn’t explain the entire history of melees. still… if there was anything her history classes had taught her, it was that no one worked harder than aja. kelcy wasn’t even sure he knew her name, though… he definitely knew everything else. she had her own tupperware of food in hand and, when she saw him with his laptop, meal beside of him… well, she felt for him. “hey,” she said, plainly, spinning to plop down on the bench beside of him. “you wanna take a break for a sec? we can be lunch buddies. way i see it… you’ve gotta eat at some point, and if your laptop’s out, i mean… food’s not in your face, so.” she shrugged, prying off the lid for her own meal, letting out a slight noise of frustration. “well, fuck me. i forgot a fork.”

The cheerleading pratice had just ended and all Lorena wanted to do was take off that sweaty uniform and take a shower. One of the teammates stopped her before she could get into the locker room, started with a comment about the difficulties of getting the choreography and when she saw it, the girl was already talking about collaborating with her in a future video. When she finally managed to get rid of the girl, she went into the empty dressing room. She didn’t like being there alone, but she needed a shower. She had just finished soaping herself when she heard a noise, she knew it was no big deal and it was just in her head.    victoria had been interested in a collaboration with the cheerleading team. when it was boiled down to it, dance and cheerleading were similar disciplines; they required skill and commitment, and unmatched strength. if she could get some of the cheerleaders into her dance class, to show how to really perform... maybe some of the newer students would understand. the inquiry had led victoria into the locker room after practice, seeking out a member or two. when she heard the student’s voice, immediately victoria put up her hands as though in defense, offering a smile as she said, “i come in peace, i promise. i wanted to talk to you about a few things. i can give you a second... i didn’t mean to intrude on your shower.”

   i did okay with keeping my last into pretty to-the-point, so let’s see how the trend goes, shall we? so basically, victoria is every much a perfectionist as she looks. makeup and hair always on point (usually red lips), composed and assured.

   dance was always the biggest part of her life. she started classes as a toddler and kept going. she was winning competitions at an early age, kicking ass, taking names. her big brothers (she has two) would always come to her recitals and competitions; basically, best supporters ever.

   instead of going to “regular school,” victoria went to dance school in new york city where she honed in on her abilities. after high school, she auditioned for and got into the new york city ballet. she was in the chorus but understudied the prima ballerina, and at twenty, went on for the first time.

   it was during this period in her life when she met her husband and married him. it was love at first sight and their marriage was ideal. when she got pregnant, it was like a dream come true.

   (this paragraph contains the mention of a miscarriage. if this triggers you, please skip to the next paragraph) victoria didn’t know how to handle it when, three months later, they lost the baby. for her, it was a punch to the gut. she mourned for a long time, and blamed herself when all subsequent attempts to get pregnant again were unsuccessful.

   she accepted the position here at allerton, mainly because she wanted to escape the painful history. additionally, her husband got a job, and they settled into a delicate balance.

   except that there’s a student. this one guy who got under her skin and won’t leave. victoria has been trying her best to avoid it, but the tension is just too fucking high. she’s going to fight it as long as she can, but... she’s only human.

   so obviously i am gonna need her husband here. also, the student with the tension. i’ve got WCs for both of them, so check it out! i also need more students, maybe former dancers with her, and someone she’s had a one-night stand with (she regrets it). hit me up for other things! i’m so excited this place is open.

   the actual most chill person in the universe: kelcy marcel. kelcy was born in lafayette, louisiana, the heart of cajun country. her mother was a big-time prosecutor in baton rouge (drove an hour to work and an hour home every day) and her daddy was a lafayette cop. it was honestly to wonder why kelcy had an interest in criminal justice.

   the only complication, kelcy thought, was branching outside of cajun country. she loved her family and she loved living near them. but what she didn’t love was the small-town mentality. she wanted more. she wanted to be where the action was.

   kelcy applied to colleges all around the country. her parents pushed for lsu (geaux tigers!) but she wasn’t having any of it. it was allerton or bust.

   as far as her personality is concerned, kelcy has always been wildly independent. she doesn’t need people in order to follow her dreams and reach her goals. however, that’s not to say that she shuns others. not at all. she’s happiest when she’s passing a bottle of whisky around a group of friends, chilling, telling stories, and shooting the shit.

   harmony is a Big F Feminist who believes that women have spent far too long being told what to do and who to be, and she isn’t going to have any of it.

   basically, it all started when she was a kid. harmony was just a wee one herself when her little sister was born and it was love at first mewl. seriously, harmony would not put the kid down. she loved her, cared for her, made sure that the little girl had everything she ever wanted. she so very rarely put her down, and even then, it was only because babies need food.

   (tw: this paragraph contains mentions of child abuse, physical abuse, and alcohol abuse. please skip to the next paragraph if this is triggering.) so when the abuse started, it was like something out of a nightmare. daddy had started drinking and when he did, he became demanding. there was nothing harmony’s mother could do to make the man happy. eventually, harmony’s mother had been beaten down (literally and figuratively) enough that she allowed it to happen. the horror turned to harmony and her little sister.

   but the good thing about the situation was that daddy was often too drunk to notice when the girls went missing. when things got really bad, harmony would take her sister outside, or next door, or they would sleep over at a friend’s house. it was pretty clear to harmony that help wasn’t going to come in the usual way, but it didn’t matter. to her, it was her and her sister against the world.

   the primary way that harmony felt better was through sex. she found a boyfriend, and then another, and then a girlfriend. it was never serious, but harmony learned how to kiss, how to fuck, and how to make a person feel like they were the center of the universe. she never felt quite as powerful as she did when she was making someone cum.

   it was, believe it or not, a logical next step to have harmony begin to sell her body. she waited until she was eighteen (for legal purposes... she didn’t want to get arrested, because otherwise, how the fuck would she take care of her sister?), but then she got hooked up with a reputable company. she started seeing anyone who wanted a little company, her brightness and drive a mega-selling point.
